Indiana Football Gets Commitment from James Monds III

Indiana Football got their 9th commitment for the 2022 Class with a verbal commitment from Cornerback James Monds III on the 4th of July. Monds is a 5-10 and 177 pounds from Vero Beach HS in Vero Beach Florida.  Monds picked IU over Nebraska and Wisconsin and had 37 total offers.  He becomes the 3rd player from the state of Florida to join the 2022 class joining Trevell Mullen and Richard Thomas Jr. IU had 22 Players from the State of Florida on the 2020 roster last and 2 others that played their High School Football in Florida even though they are from other Countries.  IU Head coach Tom Allen coached a two different High School in Florida from 1992-96 and South Florida in 2015. All commitments are verbal until they are allowed to sign a national letter of intent which is December 2021 or February 2022 which are the National Signing Period’s there Senior Year.

Former Indiana Hoosier Kyle Schwarber Named MLB All Star

Former Indiana University Star and Washington Nationals Outfielder Kyle Schwarber has been named to National League All Star Team for the MLB All Star Game Next Tuesday in Denver Colorado. Schwarber will on his first all star team in his 7-year MLB Career. Schwarber went off in June hitting 16 home runs in an 18-game span. Schwarber will miss the game due to hamstring injury he suffered last Friday. Schwarber was the 4th overall pick of the Chicago Cubs in the 2014 MLB Draft. He won a World Series title with the Cubs in 2016 and played the Cubs from 2015-2020 before being released. Schwarber signed a one-year deal with the Washington Nationals. In his MLB Career Schwarber is hitting. 233 with 145 Home Runs and 331 Runs Batted In.

Team USA Basketball Under 19 Team Goes 3-0 in Pool Play

The USA Men’s Basketball Under 19 Team headed to Round of 16 to play South Korea Tomorrow in Riga Latvia. The Americans beat Turkey 83-54, Mali 100-52 and Australia 87-66 to win Pool D. The state of Indiana is represented with Purdue Rising Sophomore Jaden Ivey who played at Mishawaka Marian before playing his Senior season at LaPorte La Lumiere.  Ivey has scored 45 points in 53 minutes in the three pool play games. 2021 Indiana Mr Basketball and Incoming Purdue Freshman Caleb Furst from Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian has scored 24 points in 41 minutes played in 3 pool play games.   

Fort Wayne Komets Win East Hockey League Title

The Fort Wayne Comets Ice Hockey Team Beat the South Carolina Stingrays 2-1 in Game 4 of the East Coast Hockey League Finals at Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne to win the series 3-1 and claim the Kelley Cup for the first time as part of the East Coast Hockey League. It’s the First Championship for Fort Wayne since 2012 and 10th overall.
