Indiana Lands Lawrence North WR Omar Cooper Jr

Indiana Football has landed a verbal commitment from Omar Cooper Jr for 2022. Cooper is a 6-0 195 pounder from Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis. Cooper picked IU over West Virginia and 16 other schools. Cooper caught 38 passes for 1,001 yards and 14 touchdowns teaming up with current IU freshman Donaven McCulley as Lawrence North went 7-4 and their first winning season in 15 years. Cooper as sophomore caught 53 passes for 1,024 yards and 13 touchdowns. He is the 10th commitment for the 2022 IU Football Class.

Team USA U-19 Basketball Routs South Korea

The United States Under-19 Men’s Basketball Team routed South Korea 132-60 in the FIBA U-19 Championships in Riga Latvia. Gonzaga Incoming Freshman Chet Holmgren had 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Americans. Holmgren is 7-1 from Minneapolis Minnesota and is rated the top player in the 2021 Class. Purdue Sophomore to be Jaden Ivey scored 11 points and played 14 minutes and 23 seconds. Incoming Purdue Freshman Caleb Furst scored 14 points in 14 minutes and 20 seconds of action. The Americans had 8 players in double figures and advance the Quarterfinals on Friday against Senegal.

Indiana Softball Adds Transfer Lindsey Warick

The Indiana Softball Team has added Missouri Transfer Lindsay Warick to the roster. Warick played in 12 games in 2021 as catcher for the Tigers. Warick batted .333 with 2 hits, 1 double, 1 run scored and 3 RBI’s. Warick redshirted in the 2020 season which was canceled after 26 games because of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Warick is from South Brunswick New Jersey and should have four years of eligibility with the Hoosiers.

Rebecca Blitz Competes for Israel at European Championships

Former Indiana University Softball Player Rebecca Blitz competed for Israel at the European Softball Championships. Blitz batted .320, fourth best on the team with two doubles and four runs batted in 10 games and played primarily in right field. Israel was 6-4 and lost to the Czech Republic 2-0 in the Bronze Medal Game.
