Indiana woman dies on plane while traveling back from the Dominican Republic
A 41 year-old woman from Central Indiana has died on a return trip to the US from the Dominican Republic. The unidentified mother of two passed after falling ill on the Wednesday flight headed toward Charlotte, North Carolina from Punta Cana.
The plane diverted to Turks and Caicos Islands, located Southeast of the Bahamas so the woman could receive medical attention from a hospital, but she was later pronounced dead. A postmortem will be conducted in order to determine the official cause of death.
Big Ten’s Clark makes history, again
Iowa Senior Caitlin Clark scored 35 points against No. 2 Ohio State on Sunday afternoon to pass Pete Maravich and become the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer in college basketball history with 3,685 career points. Clark passed Maravich’s record on a free throw with 0.3 seconds left in the second quarter. Maravich played three seasons at LSU from 1967-1970 and set the previous mark of 3,667 career points in just 83 games.
During the 2023-24 season, the West Des Moines, Iowa native has broken multiple national records. She surpassed Lynette Woodard on Feb. 28 with 33 points against Minnesota to become the all-time leading scorer in major women’s college basketball. Clark also broke the NCAA’s record for three-pointers made in a single season (162) and became the first Big Ten women’s basketball player to record over 500 three-pointers in a career (509).
Meanwhile, Grace Beyer a Guard with the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis, MO. has recently become the all-time scoring leader in the NAIA. Beyer has scored about 250 points more than Clark, and is 5th in all-time college basketball history, regardless of league or division.
MCHA teams up with Bloomington Animal Shelter to offer low-cost, appointment-free vaccine clinic for dogs and cats
Monroe County Humane Association (MCHA) and the City of Bloomington Animal Care & Control (BACC) are teaming up this March to bring accessible vaccines and basic wellness services to local dog and cat owners. As two of the leading animal welfare organizations serving our community, this event is another exciting milestone in an ongoing partnership that brings together our shared goals for responsible pet ownership and access to basic veterinary services for all members of our community.

Mobile Clinics offer a range of services, including legally mandated rabies vaccines for pets aged 12 weeks (about 3 months) and older. Additionally, clinics provide nail trims, anal gland expressions, microchips, and preventive measures for flea, tick, and heartworm. The Mobile clinic will be offering a variety of affordable services including vaccine services, wellness services, heartworm prevention, and flea/tick prevention.

Indiana State Police accepting applications for Civilian Polygraph Examine
The Indiana State Police is accepting applications for a Civilian Polygraph Examiner to serve in the Indiana State Police’s Area III, which includes the Bloomington, Evansville and Jasper Districts. Primary responsibility is to support the laboratory’s responsibilities in polygraph examinations and associated court presentation of routine and non-routine cases of varied complexity and difficulty under general supervision.
A Baccalaureate degree or higher is required and the salary starts at $63,869 per year but may be adjusted based on education, experience, and training. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement plans and accrued time off.

This Week in Hoosier History
(John) “Wes” Montgomery, American Grammy Award-winner jazz guitarist, born in Indianapolis. Montgomery was known for his unusual technique of plucking the strings with the side of his thumb, and for his extensive use of octaves, which gave him a distinctive sound. Montgomery died of a heart attack on June 15, 1968, while at home in Indianapolis. He was 45 years old.
