Andrew Capobianco and Michael Hixon Win Sliver in Tokyo
Indiana University Senior to Be Andrew Capobianco and 2018 Graduate Michael Hixon won the sliver medal for the United States in the Men’s Synchro Springboard at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics Wednesday. The pair had a score of 444.36. China won the gold with a score of 467.82 and Germany won the bronze with a score 404.73. So far five current and former Indiana University Athletes have won medals in Tokyo with two golds and a bronze in swimming and Hixon and Capobianco join Jessica Perratto who won the Sliver Medal in the platform diving event with her teammate Delaney Schnell.  Other Indiana University Athletes competing Wednesday, Lilly King finished 2nd overall in the Women’s 200-meter Breaststroke heats and will advance to the semifinals Zach Apple finished 11th overall in the semifinals of the men’s 100 freestyle with a time 48:04 and will not advance to the finals. Apple then swam the 3rd leg for the Men’s 4 X 200 freestyle relay as the United States finished 4th with a time of 7:02:43. Vini Lanza of Brazil finished 25th with a time of 1:58.92 in the Men’s 200 Individual Medley Heats and will not advance.

Canada Water Polo Dominates South Africa 21-1
2014 Indiana University Graduate Shae (Fournier) La Roche scored 2 goals as Canada dominated South Africa 21-1 in Women’s Water Polo at 2020 Tokyo Olympics on Wednesday. La Roche has started all three games and has scored four total goals so far for Team Canada which has scored 36 goals in the tournament and has allowed 23. Canada is 1-2 and will play their final pool play game Sunday afternoon against the Netherlands at 3:30 PM local time.  

Crossroads Classic Basketball Event Ends After December
The Crossroads Classic Men’s Basketball Doubleheader that is held at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis every December will end after an 11-year run. The final Crossroads Classic will be held Saturday December 18th when Indiana Faces Norte Dame and Purdue plays Butler. Scheduling issues for the schools and the timing of the event held right before the Christmas holiday has made it difficult to keep the teams on board. Every Year fans from across the state gather to watch the four schools play in a doubleheader. Indiana and Purdue do not play each other in this event since they are in the big ten so the rotate playing Butler and Norte Dame every other year. Indiana is 7-3, Butler 6-4, Norte Dame 4-6 and Purdue 3-7 all time in this event. 

Indiana Women’s Basketball to Play in The Bahamas
Indiana Women’s Basketball will play defending National Champion Stanford and Miami Florida in the Baha Mark Pink Flamingo Championship in Nassau the Bahamas. The tournament will take place at the Grand Baha Hyatt Resort on Thursday November 25th and Saturday November 27th.  Indiana will face Stanford on Thanksgiving Day Miami Florida on that Saturday. This will be the 3rd all time meeting between Stanford and Indiana. Stanford is coach by IU Alum Tara Vanderveer beginning her 43rd season as college head coach. Indiana and Miami Florida will meet for the 2nd time in 3 seasons with the last meeting coming December 4th, 2019 in Coral Gables Florida with Indiana winning 59-48 and the series is tied 2-2. Times will be announced later and the games will be broadcast on Flo Hoops.
