Community Foundation launches Local News Survey
This is your chance to share what you think of Monroe County’s local news landscape. Your input will be used to better understand local news needs and how we might work together as a community to address local news challenges and opportunities. Survey results will be used by the Community Foundation, local news professionals, and community stakeholders to begin identifying potential solutions from which the entire county can benefit. The survey only takes 5-7 minutes, and participants can enter a drawing for one of two (2) $100 Visa gift cards. Survey closes April 12!

Indiana State Police Accepting Applications for Crime Scene Investigator for Indianapolis Post
The Indiana State Police is accepting applications for a Crime Scene Investigator to serve out of the Indianapolis Post.  The Indianapolis District covers Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Johnson, Madison and Shelby Counties. Primary responsibilities for this civilian position is to provide routine laboratory services and forensic support at crime scenes with associated court presentation, and as directed maintain the security and quality assurance standards for evidence handling and storage at district facilities.

A Bachelor’s degree or higher with natural science, forensic science, and/or criminal justice courses.  Five years of experience as a certified full time Crime Scene Investigator for an ISO/IEC 17020 or 17025 accredited laboratory may substitute for a Bachelor’s degree. Pay starts at $66,534 per year but may be adjusted based on education, experience, and training. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement plans and accrued time off.

This Week in Hoosier History

Ryan White

1990 – Ryan White died at age 18 in Indianapolis. An AIDS patient, his courageous struggle for acceptance gained national attention. Shortly after his death, Congress passed the Ryan White Care Act, which provides services for people living with HIV/AIDS.
