Indiana University Men’s Basketball Announces the Signing of Illinois Transfer Luke Goode
IU Head Coach Mike Woodson announced the addition of transfer Luke Goode (GOOD-ee) to Indiana Men’s Basketball on Tuesday. Goode, a two-time Big Ten Champion, joins Indiana after three seasons at Illinois. “Luke is a knockdown 3-point shooter that provides length and rebounding ability from the wing position. He comes from a very athletic background with deep family ties to this University. He has competed at the highest level of the Big Ten and is a player we will count on to help us stretch the floor. We are excited to bring his family back to Hoosier Nation” Mike Woodson said in a Press Release.
 
The 6-7 wing averaged 4.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.1 made 3-pointers per game on 38.8% shooting from behind the arc in three seasons playing for head coach Brad Underwood. He posted 25 career games with at least two made triples. Goode, a two-time Academic All-Big Ten performer, was one of six players to appear in all 38 games during the Illini’s run to the 2024 Elite 8. He averaged 5.7 points and 3.6 rebounds in 20.2 minutes per game. He shot 38.9% (61-of-157) from behind the 3-point line and made 1.6 triples per game. Goode appeared in 76 career games for Illinois and made seven starts. Goode, a graduate of Homestead High School in Fort Wayne, left the Spartan program as the winningest player in team history (79), ranked second in career points (1,480), first in made 3-pointers (232), fourth in rebounds (499), and fourth in assists (293).
 
He is the son of Craig and Susan Goode and has a younger brother, Jake, and younger sister, Ella. His grandfather, Irv Goode, was an NFL offensive lineman for 13 seasons and member of the Miami Dolphins Super Bowl VIII championship team in 1973. His father played football at Indiana (1994-96); his uncle, Trent Green, played football at Indiana (1990-92) and played quarterback in the NFL for 12 years; and his cousin, Ben Skowronek, won Super Bowl LVI with the Los Angeles Rams. Goode trained with former Indiana men’s basketball player Matt Roth during his prep years.

Indiana University Women’s Soccer announces 2024 Schedule
Indiana University Women’s Soccer Head Coach Erwin van Bennekom announced the 2024 fall schedule on Tuesday afternoon. The 2024 schedule includes eight 2023 NCAA Tournament opponents and nine that finished top-40 in the RPI last season. The Hoosiers wrapped the 2023 season with an 11-4-4 record and went 7-0-3 on their home field.

“As the spring draws to a close, we are looking forward to a competitive Fall Season,” Associate head coach Tim Verschuren said. “Our schedule features three exhibitions, six non-conference tests, and an 11-game Big Ten slate – all packed with top competition.” “We are excited about the new members of the B1G and our games with them. This balanced schedule provides the perfect platform for continued development and opportunity to compete in postseason play. We are looking forward to the start of pre-season with the goal to build upon last year.”

The Hoosiers will open the season with three exhibition matches against UIC (Aug. 3) at Bill Armstrong Stadium before hitting the road for two games against Illinois State (Aug. 6) and Notre Dame (Aug. 10). The non-conference slate will start under the lights at Bill Armstrong Stadium with a top SEC opponent in Tennessee on Aug. 15. The Vols finished the season with a 9-7-4 overall record and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Their run came to an end with a loss to No. 15 Nebraska, 2-1. IUWS will travel to Ball State for a match against the Cardinals on Aug. 20 before hosting Wright State to close out the first month on Aug. 29.

Indiana is set to travel to the east coast for a match with Ivy league’s Brown University as they start the month of September. The Bears held a perfect 7-0-0 record in the Ivy League conference. BU wrapped up the season with a top-25 ranking (No. 16) and an appearance in the NCAA second round before a 2-1 loss to No. 18 Mississippi State. The Hoosiers will close out the non-conference portion of the schedule with Evansville (Sept. 5) and Division III opponent Lawrence (Sept. 8). Indiana will also honor their seniors in the final non-con game of the season.

With the addition of four schools to the Big Ten this season, IUWS will face new competition with four universities on the west coast. But first, the Hoosiers will play a familiar opponent in Ohio State to start conference play on Sept. 12. The Buckeyes fell in the first round of the tournament to Pitt. The Hoosiers will welcome both California universities to the Midwest. IU will host UCLA on Sept. 19 and USC on Sept. 22 to Bill Armstrong Stadium. Indiana will head to the west coast to compete on the pitch against new Big Ten opponents in Oregon (Sept. 26) and Washington (Sept. 29).

The squad kicks off October with reigning Big Ten Champion Iowa on Oct. 6. The Hawkeyes wrapped the 2023 season with a 13-5-4 record and went 6-1-2 in the B1G. UI advanced to the NCAA Tournament with a first-round win against Bucknell before falling to No. 12 Georgia in the second round, 3-2. A three-match homestretch with in-state rival Purdue (Oct. 10), Wisconsin (Oct. 13) and Illinois (Oct. 17) will conclude the home portion of the regular season. Indiana defeated the Boilermakers 1-0 with a win in West Lafayette, Ind. to take home The Golden Boot. Wisconsin held a 14-5-4 record and went 7-2-1 in conference play. The Badgers made it to the second round of the NCAA tournament with a first-round victory over Milwaukee before falling to No. 5 Texas in the second round. IU will hit the road to Minnesota (Oct. 20) and conclude the regular season with Nebraska (Oct. 27). The Cornhuskers were ranked No. 15 in the 17-4-3 and a 10-1-2 record in the B1G. They advanced to the Elite 8 with wins over Tennessee and UC Irvine before falling to Stanford in the quarterfinals.

Indiana University Rowing’s Second Varsity Eight named Big Ten Boat of the Week
Indiana’s Second Varsity Eight crew earned Big Ten Boat of the Week honors after helping IU win its seventh-straight Dale England Cup Championship, the conference office announced Tuesday. Indiana’s 2V8 had the largest margin of victory in the program’s sweep of Michigan State on Saturday, finishing in a time of 6:59.3 and 17.2 seconds ahead of the Spartans. The crew improved its head-to-head record to 15-8 heading into the Big Ten Championships on May 19. IU’s 2V8 boat included junior coxswain Lilly Gintert, senior Sofia Sperduto, freshman Maddison Shanks, junior Lily Haupt, junior Phoebe Inall, senior Niamh Monk, junior Clare Hunsberger, freshman Lilly Murphy and sophomore Caroline Schrieber.

Indiana University Men’s Golfer Drew Salyers selected All-Big Ten Second Team
Indiana Senior Drew Salyers was selected to the All-Big Ten Second Team, the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon. Salyers posted a Hoosier-low 71.69 strokes per rounds while playing all 35 rounds across 12 tournaments. The Howard, Ohio, native collected eight top-20 finishes, six top-10 outings, and three top-5 results throughout the season. He nabbed runner-up honors at the Windon Memorial Classic when he shot a 201 (64-67-69; -12), the sixth-lowest tournament score in program history. Salyers finished atop the Hoosier leaderboard in six of the 12 events played.

Sixth-year senior Noah Gillard was named Indiana’s recipient of the 2024 Big Ten Sportsmanship Honoree. He played in all 12 team events for the Hoosiers with a stroke average of 71.94 across 35 rounds. Gillard posted four top-10 finishes and three top-5 efforts. He was named Big Ten Men’s Golfer of the Week on April 10 after runner-up accolades at the Hoosier Collegiate in which he shot a 213 (73-69-71; E) to lead Indiana its first of two-consecutive team tournament titles.   

Indiana University Men’s Swimmer Rafael Miroslaw Qualifies for the 2024 Paris Olympics
Indiana Swimming and Diving Junior and German Swimmer Rafael Miroslaw has qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Miroslaw swam a 1:46.11 to win the 200-meter freestyle at the TYR Pro Swim Series in San Antonio on April 10. His performance achieved an Olympic Qualification Time and came within the national qualification period (April 1-28), and Miroslaw is one of two individuals in the 200 free to meet German Swimming Federation’s selection policy for Paris 2024.

The German Swimming Federation will officially announce its Olympic team at a later date. In 2023-24, Miroslaw completed his third year for the IU swim and dive program, helping the Hoosiers win their third-straight Big Ten Championships. Miroslaw is an 18-time All-American, two-time NCAA runner-up, 10-time Big Ten Champion and three-time first-team All-Big Ten honoree.

The Indiana Pacers to face the San Antonio Spurs in Paris France for two games in 2025
Bonjour, Paris. The Indiana Pacers will play a pair of regular-season games in France in 2025, the NBA announced Monday. The Blue and Gold will take on the San Antonio Spurs in a two-game series as part of the NBA Paris Games presented by Tissot. The games are schedule for Thursday, Jan. 23, and Saturday, Jan. 25. According to the NBA, this marks the first time the league will play two regular-season games in the French capital in the same season. It’ll be the team’s first visit to France and the eleventh time the Pacers have played an international game.

The last time Indiana played overseas was 2019, when the team took on Sacramento in Mumbai, India, as part of the preseason. The international trips are intended to help the NBA grow the game of basketball across the world. The Pacers and Spurs will hold interactive fan activities, NBA Cares community outreach initiatives and youth basketball development programs during their visit.
