Indiana University Athletics Announces Changes to Student Seating for Men’s Basketball IU Athletics is making a transformative shift of the seating configuration of Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall for the 2026-27 men’s basketball season.  In a move designed to further enhance the facility’s legendary gameday atmosphere, IU-Bloomington students will occupy both the north and south court-level bleachers beginning next season. Both bleacher areas will feature general admission seating for IU student ticket holders.  This change will nearly double the number of court-level seats set aside for the IU students to approximately 1,200. Previously, IU students occupied only the south courtside bleachers, while the north courtside bleachers were utilized by general public season ticket holders.

The change was inspired by feedback IU Athletics received from Indiana students in classes taught by IU Kelley School of Business instructors Rebecca Butters, Anna Deeds, and Clark Barwick. “We are excited to continue making Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall the toughest road environment in all of college basketball,” head men’s basketball coach Darian DeVries said. “We appreciate all the support we have received from Hoosier Nation and look forward to seeing you all this season.”

“IU students are the heartbeat of this campus, and they are a huge part of what makes gamedays special at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall,” IU Vice President and Director of Athletics Scott Dolson said. “This change recognizes and celebrates that by giving our students a huge percentage of the best seats at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.” IU students who purchased the 2026-27 Student Season Football and Men’s Basketball Combo package will receive an email with an option to upgrade to either a north or south bleacher ticket package. If upgrade requests exceed availability, the IU Student Ticket Points Program will be used to determine eligibility based on accumulated point totals.

Indiana University Football Headed to the White House for National Championship Celebration Indiana football’s national championship celebration is headed to Washington D.C. The Hoosiers are set to visit the White House on Monday, May 11, a source confirmed to The South-Central Indiana News Network. The tradition of championship sports teams visiting the White House and the president of the United States dates back to the 1800s. The undefeated Indiana men’s basketball team in 1976 was the first men’s college basketball team to attend a White House celebration; college football champions have gone to Washington since Alabama in 1961. IU will become the latest group to visit the White House. The Hoosiers sealed their title on Jan. 19, 2026, with a 27-21 victory over Miami (Fla.), at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla. in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game. This is the first of two prominent public appearances for IU head coach Curt Cignetti in May. He will also drive the pace car at the Indianapolis 500 on May 24.

Indiana University Softball Takes Down Illinois in the Series Opener Indiana Takes Game One in Illinois Series On a chilly May night, Indiana’s bats edged Illinois on Friday night at Andy Mohr Field as the Hoosiers won 8-5 in game one of the series. The win marks the third in a row and puts Indiana at 39-13 on the year and 15-7 in the Big Ten. Illinois used a sacrifice fly and home run over the center field to go up 3-0 in the top of the first.  Indiana countered in the bottom of the first with two runs scoring on a Josie Bird double to draw the score closer at 3-2.  It didn’t take long for Indiana to take the lead as in the bottom of the second. Brooke Mannon tied it at 3-3 when she scored on a groundout from Aly VanBrandt. Then, after Alex Cooper walked, Avery Parker hit a grand slam to make it 7-3. Eileen Donahue’s 2-run homer in the top of the fifth put the score closer, pushing it to 7-5.  Indiana added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth when Peyton Drummond came home on a groundout from Josie Bird to make it 8-5. Indiana University Baseball Flys the W at Wrigley Field An awesome night of baseball at one of the sport’s most iconic venues saw the Indiana Baseball team (21-25, 7-15) pick up a big 9-2 victory over Northwestern (17-25-1, 5-17 B1G) on Friday evening at Wrigley Field. He and sophomore first baseman

Jake Hanley each had three-hit days in the win. Freshman designated hitter Owen ten Oever continued his hot ways with two hits and three RBIs. Sophomore outfielder Cole Decker added a triple and a pair of RBIs. Graduate student Tony Neubeck (W, 6-4) bounced back in a big way with his fifth quality start in Big Ten play this season. The veteran southpaw tossed six scoreless innings with seven strikeouts. He threw 100 pitches and commanded the game with a mix of pitches for strikes. Graduate student right-handed pitcher Reagan Rivera (SV, 3) picked up the save after recording the final seven outs of the game. Over the last three seasons, IU is 13-6 in the month of May during the regular season.

This was the 12th consecutive win at Fishers Event Center for the Ignite.  After dropping two of the first three sets, the Ignite roared back to take the match, 25-22, 20-25, 18-25, 25-18, 15-13. Ignite coach Lauren Bertolacci said in a news release, “We said in the locker room that we’re playing to get the record today and we put a team out there that we believed we could do that with, I’m super pumped, it was one of the most fun games of the season. That was our first five-setter at home, so it was really exciting.”

Ignite rookie Emma Halter finished with 20 digs, five assists and a 76 percent positive reception rate. The Indy native said, “We looked at each other, and we’re like, ‘We are not losing!’ I looked at Ainise (Havili, Ignite setter) in the fourth set and I said, ‘I don’t care what happens or what this looks like, but we’re winning!’ It was really fun to see us just come together and finish.” Outside hitter Emoni Bush led Ignite scorers with 24 points on 20 kills, two blocks and two service aces.  The Ignite are now 22-5 overall and close out the regular season this afternoon when they host San Diego at 3 p.m.  Looking ahead to the MLV Championship semifinal, the No. 1-seeded Ignite will meet No. 4 Omaha at Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas, in a rematch of last year’s semifinals.
