Sebastian Munoz beats Jon Rahm to win the LIV Golf Tournament at Chatham Hills in Westfield Jon Rahm successfully defended his LIV Golf season points title Sunday without winning an event all year, closing with an 11-under 60 before losing a playoff to Sebastian Munoz on the first extra hole in the Indianapolis event. Munoz won two days after becoming the first player to shoot 59 with a double bogey. The Colombian player —with Rahm hitting balls on driving range — birdied the final two holes in regulation for a 65 to match Rahm at 22 under at The Club at Chatham Hills.

Rahm also lost on the first extra hole last week outside Chicago, falling to Dean Burmester in a three-way playoff that included Josele Ballester. On Sunday, Munoz beat the Spanish star won with a birdie on the par-4 18th in the playoff. Rahm took the season points title from Joaquin Niemann, a five-time winner this season. Niemann shot a 66 to tie for fourth at 17 under, his first top 10 finish of the year that he didn’t win. Munoz led Torque GC to the team event championship. Torque finished at 64 under to break the LIV record of 53 under. Ian Poulter birdied four of his last five holes for a 67 to tie for 17th and avoid relegation from the tour. Majesticks teammate Henrik Stenson was relegated, missing a 20-foot birdie putt on the final hole that would have keep him on the tour and left Poulter out.

Indiana Fever Head Coach Stephanie White is Hopeful that Caitlin Clark Returns before the end of the WNBA Regular Season “The hope is that she’s back.” That’s how Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White responded Sunday when asked if All-Star Caitlin Clark would be back before the end of the regular season, which is just 23 days away. Clark has been sidelined for over a month after injuring her right groin at the end of July 15’s win against the Connecticut Sun. She’s missed 13 straight games, bringing her total up to 22 after dealing with two other lower body injuries earlier in the season. “The most important thing is that she’s 100% when she’s ready to come back,” White said before Sunday’s game in Connecticut. “The timing is never ideal, but the long-term health and wellness is the most important thing.”

The Fever are focused on continued patience. Clark rushed to return earlier in the season after her first two injuries. This time around, the team wants to ensure she’s at her best when she comes back. “I think the experience throughout the year, trying to come back quickly, taught her that she needs to make sure she’s 100%,” White said. “Yes, every competitor wants to play. But at the same time, doing it the right way and making sure that after we’ve had a couple of setbacks that we’re prioritizing her long-term health and wellness is the most important thing.” After Sunday’s overtime win against the Sun, the Fever are now 11-11 without Clark on the floor. They’re currently sixth in the WNBA standings with nine games left in the regular season. Clark was averaging 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 8.8 assists per game in 13 games that she has been able to play this season.

Indy Eleven Fall to Loudon United on the Road Indy Eleven and Loudoun United FC combined for all five goals after halftime, with the hosts scoring last to earn a 3-2 win. For the second consecutive year, Boys in Blue defender James Musa scored at Loudoun.  This time it came in the 51st minute off Indy Eleven’s first corner kick of the match. Forward Maalique Foster earned the corner, turning and firing on target from inside the area.  Midfielder James Murphy delivered the corner into the center of the six to Musa, who headed it home for his second goal as a member of the Boys in Blue.  It was Murphy’s second assist in his last three games.

After the hosts tied it at 1-1, Indy Eleven goalkeeper Hunter Sulte started the next scoring sequence in the 78th minute.  Sulte scooped up a loose ball at the left edge of the area, sprinted it toward the 18, and fired it to Cam Lindley in the midfield.  Lindley settled it, took three long strides, and uncorked a perfect pass to the edge of the area to forward Elvis Amoh.  At full speed, Amoh touched it forward and then hit it between the legs of Loudoun goalkeeper Hugo Fauroux to give his team a 2-1 lead.  It is Amoh’s fifth goal this season in USL Championship action and his ninth overall in all competitions.  Amoh now has 45 career goals in USLC play, good for a tie for 40th all-time.
