Tyler is 20 years old and competing in his first Olympics and is the first American to qualify for both the platform and springboard since Mark Ruiz in 2000 and Greg Louganis who won both events in 1984 and 1988. \u00a0IU\u2019s Mariah Denigan finished 16<sup>th<\/sup> overall in the Women\u2019s Open Water Swimming 10 Kilometer Event with a time of 2:06.42.9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The United States Men\u2019s Basketball team came from 17 points down to beat Serbia 95-91 in the Semifinals and will face France on Saturday for the Gold Medal Game. Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers did not play in the game as the United States 5-0 and Serbia is 3-2 and will play for the Bronze against Germany. France won 73-68 over Germany as former Indiana Pacer Daniel Thies started and played 27 minutes for the Germans scoring 8 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 1 block as both Germany and France are 4-1 overall in the Olympic Men\u2019s Basketball Tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The United States Women\u2019s Volleyball Team beat Brazil 3-2 in the Semifinals in a five-set thriller 25-23, 18-25, 25-15, 23-25 and 15-11 to advance to the Gold Medal match on Sunday vs Italy. Elkhart Indiana Native and Purdue Grad Annie Drews scored 18 points. Italy beat Canada 10-5 in the Women\u2019s Water Polo Consolation Semifinals. IU Grads Jessica Gaudreault played all 32 minutes in goal for Canada facing 21 shots and 11 making 11 saves and Shae La Roche started and played 20 minutes and 43 seconds with 2 shots and a block as Canada will face Greece on Saturday for 7<sup>th<\/sup> place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Purdue University Graduate Paula Reto of South Africa shot a 1 over par 73 in the Second Round of the Women\u2019s Individual Golf Tournament and is tied for 47<sup>th<\/sup> place with a two-round score of 151 which is 7 over par for the tournament. Reto finished the first round with a score 78 which was 6 over par. The United States leads the Overall Medal Count with 103 with 30 Gold, 38 Sliver and 35 Bronze. China who is second with 73 overall medals has 29 Gold, 25 Sliver and 19 Bronze. France, Great Britian and Australia round out the top five. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Westfield\u2019s Jake Cesare wins the Golfweek Hoosier Amateur Men\u2019s Tournament at the Pfau Course        <\/strong>                                                                                     <br>Jake Cesare of Westfield Indiana won the Golfweek Hoosier Amateur Men\u2019s Tournament at Pfau Course on the Indiana University Campus Thursday. Cesare finished the 54-hole tournament with a 6 under par and a total score of 207 after a shooting a 5 under par 66 in the final round to win tournament by five strokes over Ben Cors of Wooster, Ohio who fought back after a rough second round to finish the tournament 1 under par after he led the first round. Shane Ochs, Drew Rowan and Jackson Stillman for third place with an even par. Defending Champion and IU Golfer Nick Piesen tied for 29<sup>th<\/sup> with a total score of 221. Cesare becomes the fifth different winner in the tournament\u2019s five-year history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jason Bannister of Bloomfield and Colton Girgis of Bedford tied for 39<sup>th<\/sup> with three other golfers at 12 over par. Bloomington\u2019s Mitch Oard tied for 75<sup>th<\/sup> at 25 over par while Colton Watson tied for 85<sup>th<\/sup> at 34 over par. Luke Garrett of Ellettsville finished 92<sup>nd<\/sup> at 43 over par and Robert Wise finished 95<sup>th<\/sup> at 59 over par. Three more players withdrew from the tournament before third round began leaving the final number to 95 golfers that finished the 7217-yard par 71 course. What started as a field of 102 golfers before the tournament began became a field of 95 after Jack O\u2019Donnell, Titus Boswell and Matthew Schull dropped out joining Tucker McDonald who dropped out before the second round Wednesday. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Matchups Revealed for the 2024 Indy Classic at Gainbridge Fieldhouse <\/strong>                                                                                                                                         <br>The third annual Indy Classic powered by Sports Tech HQ will take place on December 14 inside Gainbridge Fieldhouse.  One of the matchups was\u00a0previously revealed\u00a0back in April. And on Thursday, the other game was revealed.  One of the games will be Purdue versus Texas A&amp;M, which was revealed in April, while the other will be Butler versus Wisconsin.  Game times and television information will be announced at a later date.  \u201cWelcoming four renowned basketball programs to Indianapolis is a testament to our commitment to growing the Indy Classic into a premier basketball event,\u201d Indiana Sports Corp President Patrick Talty said in a\u00a0news release. \u201cThe 2024 Indy Classic will showcase top-tier collegiate basketball, offering fans an unforgettable experience in the nation\u2019s most celebrated basketball state.\u201d   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It will be the fifth matchup all-time between Purdue and Texas A&amp;M. The Boilermakers won three of the previous four meetings. The last meeting between the programs came in the 2010 NCAA Tournament second round, when the Boilers beat the Aggies 63-61 in overtime. Meanwhile, Butler and Wisconsin have met 31 previous times with the Badgers holding a 17-14 all-time advantage over the Bulldogs. The last meeting between the programs came in the 2011 NCAA Sweet Sixteen when the Bulldogs beat the Badgers 61-54.   \u201cThe Indy Classic has quickly become a favorite of fans here in Indianapolis and beyond, and we are excited to welcome these exciting programs for another fantastic afternoon of incredible college basketball action,\u201d Pacers Sports &amp; Entertainment President &amp; Chief Operating Officer Mel Raines said in the news release.  \u201cThe Indy Classic is an annual fundraiser for Indiana Sports Corp\u2019s non-profit mission,\u201d according to the news release.  Tickets will go on sale Aug. 23 at 10am through&nbsp;Ticketmaster.  Last year\u2019s Indy Classic featured Purdue beating Arizona in a top-five matchup. The other game featured Indiana State beating Ball State.  Purdue also was part of the<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>first Indy Classic&nbsp;in 2022. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Indiana University Men&#8217;s Soccer opens Preseason Camp <\/strong>                                                                                                                                                                      <br>The ball is rolling for the 52nd edition of Indiana men&#8217;s soccer as the program opened its 2024 preseason Wednesday morning with its first training session. Speaking to media, IU head coach\u00a0Todd Yeagley kicking off his 15th season in that role \u2013 emphasized veteran leadership as the squad welcomes 14 newcomers to the program this fall.  &#8220;This program goes by the older players,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Them passing down what knowledge they have and how we do things is incredibly important. They&#8217;re the storytellers, they&#8217;re the ones that keep it going. &#8220;We (the coaches) can only do so much, and the players are the ultimate guide in how this happens.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>IU comes into preseason as the No. 7-ranked team in the country according to the United Soccer Coaches poll, reflective of an Elite Eight run in 2023. The Hoosiers have 16 days to prepare for their season opener, a marquee road matchup with Saint Louis on August 23. In the buildup, Indiana will travel for exhibition matches against Bowling Green (Aug. 13 in Westfield, Ind.) \u2013 and Louisville (Aug. 17).  IU&#8217;s first home contest comes Aug. 29 against No. 2-ranked Notre Dame, a rematch of the 2023 Elite Eight match. Fans can purchase season and single-game tickets by clicking&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/iuhoosiers.evenue.net\/list\/MSM\">this link<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Jasper National Little League Falls in the Great Lakes Region Championship Game<\/strong>                                                                                                                      <br>The Jasper National Little League from Jasper Indiana lost to Hinsdale Illinois Little League 8-7 in 7 innings in the Great Lakes Region Championship Game in Whitestown, Indiana Wednesday Night. Hinsdale is 20 Miles west of Chicago and will make its first trip to the Little League World Series in Williamsport Pennsylvania next week. \u00a0This will be the 15<sup>th<\/sup> team from the state of Illinois to make it to the Little League World Series and the first since 2014. Hinsdale was making its second ever appearance in the Great Lakes Region Championship after losing to Gross Pointe Woods-Shores Michigan 6-3 in 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jasper who was playing its fifth game in five days battled all the way back after losing to Hinsdale in the first game on Saturday and won the Indiana State Little League Championship for the first time and making its first appearance in the Great Lakes Region Tournament. Jasper scored five runs in the top of sixth Inning to take the lead before Hinsdale scored in the bottom of sixth to send the game into extra innings. Hinsdale scored in the bottom of the seventh to win the game and book their trip to Williamsport as the Great Lakes Region Championship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Indy Eleven win at home against Rhode Island FC <\/strong>                                                                                                                                                                            <br>Indy Eleven delivered an impressive performance to end the longest active unbeaten streak (eight matches) in the USL Eastern Conference with a 1-0 victory over Rhode Island FC at Carroll Stadium.\u00a0 With the victory, the Boys in Blue (10-7-5) are in sole possession of fourth place in the Eastern Conference with 35 points.  Indy Eleven forward Sebastian Guenzatti provided the game-winning goal in the 34th minute off an assist from Laurence Wootton.\u00a0 It was Guenzatti\u2019s fourth tally this season and his 74th career goal in the USL, moving him into a tie for fifth on the all-time list.\u00a0 Wootton recorded his first assist of the season after entering the match in the 15th minute as an injury replacement for Cam Lindley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Indy keeper Hunter Sulte recorded his fifth clean sheet this season with four saves, including three in the second half.\u00a0 Sulte made the save of the night in the 76th minute off a header from Frank Nodarse toward the bottom left corner, swatting it off the line.\u00a0 The only save of the first half by Sulte was a spectacular diving stop off a Mark Doyle shot in the 17th minute. Indy Eleven, who outshot Rhode Island 18-10, improved to 9-1-1 this season when scoring first, including a 4-1 mark at home.
