Indiana University Men’s Soccer Adds Transfer Aidan Montoure to the 2024 Squad <\/strong>
Indiana Men’s Soccer Head Coach\u00a0Todd Yeagley officially announced on Monday the addition of transfer goalkeeper\u00a0Aidan Montoure to his team’s roster for the 2024 season. A graduate transfer from Farmington, Wisconsin, Montoure spent his last two seasons at Evansville following a two-year stint at Presbyterian. In 20 career matches, Montoure has totaled four clean sheets and 1.50 goals against average.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana University Volleyball adds Carly Skjodt to the Staff <\/strong>
Professional volleyball player and former Michigan All-American Carly Skjodt will join the Indiana volleyball staff as the Executive Assistant to the Head Coach. She will work with the program before joining the Indy Ignite for its inaugural season in the Pro Volleyball Federation in 2025. “I have known Carly since her playing days and it has been exciting to watch her develop and grow into the pro that she is today,” head coach\u00a0Steve Aird said.\u00a0“She will be back in Indiana playing professionally in the spring and reached out with interest about learning more about the mechanics of coaching and running a program.\u00a0Everyone that has played with her or worked with her says the same thing.\u00a0She is an Incredible person who cares a great deal and is not afraid to work.\u00a0She brings so much to the table and her personality, experience and passion will touch every part of IUVB.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In her role with the Hoosiers, Skjodt will spend time working with players and coaches in an off-the-court manner. She will learn the ropes and the inner workings of being on a division one staff while assisting head coach Steve Aird with all program needs and requests. She will provide support to student athletes and brings a wealth of collegiate and professional knowledge to the gym. Skjodt, a native of Carmel, Ind., helped lead Carmel High School to the IHSAA 4A State Title in 2014 and was named the Prep Volleyball National Senior of the Year in her final season of high school. She played for Munciana and helped the illustrious club to a runner-up finish at the 2014 AAU National Championship. “I’m so excited to work with such a loyal, special and hard-working staff that has welcomed me with open arms,” Skjodt said. “I know that each one of them has so much to teach me and I’m looking forward to working with this group every day.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During her indoor career at Michigan, Skjodt compiled 1,401 kills from 2015-18 including 512 during her senior campaign in 2018. She ranks 8th all-time in program history at Michigan in career kills. Her senior year tally of 512 kills ranks fifth in program history. She played in 130 career matches and helped the Wolverines to the Sweet 16 in 2018. Carly is the niece of the namesake of Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, Cindy Simon Skjodt. In addition to her playing career at Michigan, she played one year of beach volleyball at Pepperdine. She has played professionally both indoors and on the beach. During her first season in the PVF, Skjodt played with former Indiana libero Paula Cerame in Orlando. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana University Men’s Tennis to host a Program Alumni Event in September <\/strong>
The Indiana Men’s Tennis team is hosting a program alumni event on the weekend of Friday, Sep. 27 through Saturday, Sep. 28 in Bloomington. The event will feature a multitude of activities to allow alumni from all graduating classes a chance to catch up and connect with fellow members of the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The weekend will feature the following itinerary:
-Friday (Sep. 27): 7 p.m. – dinner at Pfau Golf Course (only program alumni allowed).
-Saturday (Sep. 28): 9 a.m. \u2013 tennis\/pickleball at IU outdoor tennis courts.
-Saturday (Sep. 28): after tennis\/pickleball \u2013 tailgating at Memorial Stadium lots.
-Saturday (Sep. 28): TBD \u2013 attend Indiana vs. Maryland football game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you wish to attend the football game, tickets will be provided to you and a guest. Additional tickets can be purchased online through the IU ticket office. Circle City Classic to return to Lucas Oil Stadium in September for its 40th Anniversary <\/strong>
2024 marks the 40th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary of the Circle City Classic, the annual football game between two HBCU schools. This year\u2019s game will feature Norfolk State against North Carolina Central at Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 28. The game\u2019s halftime show will feature the Circle City Classic \u201cBattle of the Bands,\u201d where the two school\u2019s marching bands will go head-to-head. In its 40th year, The Circle City Classic continues to spotlight the excellence of HBCU athletics. What started as a single football game in 1984, has evolved into a multi-day cultural celebration that showcases the athletic talents of HBCU teams and enriches the community through scholarships and a celebration of African American culture. Indianapolis Colts drop Preseason Opener to the Denver Broncos <\/strong>
Quarterback Anthony Richardson played in a game for the first time since October as the Colts opened the preseason with a 34-30 loss to Denver at Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday. Richardson played the Colts\u2019 first two offensive series, going 2-for-4 for 25 yards. He also led the team to one first down on a 19-yard completion to tight end Mo Alie-Cox. The fourth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft missed most of his rookie year after suffering a shoulder injury in week 5 that required season-ending surgery. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Defensive back Kenny Moore\u2019s interception was the highlight of the day for the Colts\u2019 first-team defense. The takeaway led to a 35-yard Matt Gay field goal for the first points of the game. The Broncos answered with 10 points to take the lead. Indianapolis running back Evan Hull, returning from injury, scored from a yard out to tie the game. Denver regained the lead on field goal right before halftime. Former Notre Dame running back Audric Estime scored a 2-yard touchdown for Denver to make it 20-10 early in the third quarter. Sixth-round draft pick Micah Abraham provided the second big play for the Colts\u2019 defense, scooping up a fumble and returning it 45 yards for a touchdown to make it 20-17. The teams exchanged two touchdowns to cement the final margin. The Colts host the Arizona Cardinals for two days of joint workouts at Grand Park in Westfield before meeting them in their second preseason game on Saturday night at 7 p.m. on CBS4 in Indianapolis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indy Eleven Falls to New Mexico United at Carroll Stadium <\/strong>
Visiting Western Conference leader New Mexico United scored three second-half goals in a 22-minute span to rally for a 3-1 road victory over the Indy Eleven at Carroll Stadium. Indy Eleven played an impressive first half with an 8-4 advantage in shots.\u00a0 In the second minute of the match, a header from Romario Williams set up a chance for Augi Williams for a left-footed opportunity in the area that was saved by New Mexico keeper Alex Tambakis. In the 23rd minute, Neidlinger struck a nice cross from the right corner to the far post to defender Aedan Stanley, but his header was just over the bar. The Boys in Blue took a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute when 18-year-old midfielder Logan Neidlinger became the youngest player in franchise history to score a goal.\u00a0 Neidlinger is also the first Indy Eleven player on a USL Academy contract to score.\u00a0 Neidlinger, born in Indianapolis, has played the full 90 minutes in all three of the team\u2019s August matches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Defender Adrian Diz Pe started the scoring sequence with an interception at midfield.\u00a0 Three quick passes got the ball to midfielder Laurence Wootton, who quickly passed it to Neidlinger on the right side of the box.\u00a0 Neidlinger fired a shot into the top left corner.\u00a0 It was Wootton\u2019s second straight match with an assist. Indy Eleven had a great chance to take increase its lead just three minutes later when Neidlinger delivered an excellent cross from outside the area on the right side to the far post to Augi Williams, who headed across to the far post, but Romario Williams was not able to finish. In the 39th minute, forward Sebastian Guenzatti spun and passed to Stanley, who hit a cross that just eluded both Augi and Romario Williams. Indy Eleven are in fourth place in the Eastern Conference with 35 points.\u00a0 Their next match is at the Las Vegas Lights FC on August 24.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
