Terre Haute inmate beaten to death<\/strong> Indiana Attorney General\u2019s Office returns $133,023 to Hoosiers at the Indiana State Fair<\/strong>
Michael Rudkin, the former Bureau of Prisons officer who was serving time at the USP Terre Haute Federal Prison in Indiana for having a sexual relationship with an inmate and plotting to kill his wife and a Federal Agent that was investigating him for the misconduct, has died. Rudkin was beaten to death by a fellow Federal Inmate, according to sources. His death is being investigated as a potential homicide. According to the Associated Press, the Bureau of Prisons said Rudkin was found unresponsive at the prison around 6:30 p.m. on Monday and staff members began administering medical attention and called for emergency medical crews. He was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and died on Tuesday. Rudkin was a Corrections Officer at the Federal Prison in Danbury, Connecticut. He was convicted in 2009 for his sexual involvement with a female inmate as well as for arranging to pay that woman to murder his wife. Additionally, Rudkin had began making payments to have the Federal Agent killed that was investigating his involvement with the woman with whom he was having the affair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Attorney General Todd Rokita announced that he and his staff returned $133,023 in unclaimed property to Hoosiers at this year\u2019s Indiana State Fair. This latest outreach effort brings the total amount of money returned to Hoosiers in 2021 to $31,264,893.04. During the fair\u2019s 24-day run, the Indiana Attorney General\u2019s Office interacted with more than 5,000 Hoosiers, mainly discussing unclaimed property that might have been available to them. Staff from the Attorney General\u2019s booth also handed out information to help consumers protect themselves from the most prevalent types of scams, including fraudsters trying to steal Hoosiers\u2019 identities and\/or swindle them out of money. Staff members also provided copies of the Parents Bill of Rights developed by Attorney General Rokita to help families exercise their legal right to have a voice in their children\u2019s education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
