Indiana University Men’s Soccer Duo Wins Big Ten weekly Awards <\/strong>\u00a0 Indiana men’s soccer Senior Defender\u00a0Jansen Miller and freshman\u00a0Charlie Heuer\u00a0were among the Big Ten weekly award winners announced by the conference office on Tuesday, October 15. Miller was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week. In its victories over Kentucky and Penn State, IU allowed a combined 10 shots, two on goal. After Kentucky scored two goals on four shots in the first half of the October 8 match, IU would not concede a goal the rest of the week (145 minutes). The Hoosiers would come back to win that match and shut out Penn State on Friday. Miller also recorded assists in each match, contributing to the game-tying goal against Kentucky as well as the winning goal versus Penn State. The center-back has tallied an assist in three of IU’s last four matches. Heuer scored both goals in Indiana’s 2-0 win over Penn State. The freshman appeared for the first time in over a month as a 61st-minute substitute, scored his first-career goal in the 68th minute and doubled IU’s advantage in the 76th. With his performance, four different Hoosiers have scored brace in four consecutive matches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana University Women’s Basketball ranked in the Associated Press Preseason Top 25 For the Sixth Straight Season <\/strong> For the sixth straight year, Indiana women\u2019s basketball is ranked in the preseason AP Poll. The Hoosiers check in at No. 25 in the 2024-25 preseason top 25. Teri Moren\u2019s program has been a mainstay in the rankings, staying in the top 25 in every poll since the 2019-20 preseason. IU was picked to finish fifth in the Big Ten preseason poll. Five other Big Ten programs are ranked ahead of the Hoosiers in the AP Poll: No. 3 USC, No. 5 UCLA, No. 14 Ohio State, No. 18 Maryland, and No. 23 Nebraska. IU is coming off a third-place finish in the conference last season, along with a No. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament that led to a Sweet 16 appearance. Indiana opens the regular season on November 4 against Brown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana University Men’s Basketball Returns to the Associated Press Preseason Top 25 <\/strong> Let the high expectations officially begin.\u00a0 The Indiana Hoosiers are back in the AP Top 25. Mike Woodson\u2019s fourth IU squad will open the season in the No. 17 spot according to the preseason AP poll released on Monday afternoon. This is the first time Indiana has been ranked since the final poll in March of 2023.\u00a0 The Hoosiers spent 16 weeks ranked during that 2022-23 season.\u00a0 And that campaign was the first time the program had been ranked since the early portion of the 2018-19 season. No. 17 is Indiana\u2019s best ranking since February of 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The AP began compiling a ranking of the top 20 college men\u2019s basketball teams during the 1948\u20131949 season. It has issued a poll continuously since the 1950\u20131951 season. Beginning with the 1989-1990 season, the poll expanded to 25 teams. Overall, IU has now been ranked in the AP top 25 for 577 weeks, the eighth most in college basketball history.  This is the 32nd time IU has been ranked in the preseason AP poll. Joining IU in the preseason poll from the Big Ten are Purdue (14), UCLA (22) and Rutgers (25). Indiana opens the 2024-25 season on Nov. 6 against SIU Edwardsville in Bloomington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana University Baseball Fall World Series dates announced <\/strong> The Indiana Baseball program’s annual Fall World Series will take place over homecoming weekend, spanning over a four-day period with football’s game against Nebraska (Oct. 19) sandwiched in between. Compared to previous years, all three games will be played in one weekend. IU completed its two allowable fall exhibitions against quality opposition in Louisville and Cincinnati. Freshmen Jake Hanley and Hogan Denny impressed at the plate while transfer arms Gavin Seebold (Southern Indiana) and Cole Gilley (Indiana State) showed some big-inning potential for the Hoosiers. Bloomington will be busy on homecoming weekend with the Fall World Series, Hoosier Hysteria (Oct. 18) and Indiana Football’s game with Nebraska (Oct. 19). The Thursday and Sunday games will be open to the public. Due to homecoming parade activities, Friday’s game will not be open to the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Purdue Men’s Basketball Alum Zach Edey leads the Memphis Grizzlies to a Preseason Win over the Indiana Pacers <\/strong>\u00a0 Zach Edey was back in Indiana Monday night and once again put together a dominating performance on the basketball court.\u00a0 With most of the stars on the bench for both teams, Edey scored 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Memphis to a 120-116 preseason win over\u00a0Indiana at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The game was Edey’s first professional game in the state where he earned two national player of the year awards at Purdue. Edey shot 10 of 15 from the floor against the Pacers in less than 19 minutes of game action. The ninth overall pick in this year’s NBA draft is averaging 13.5 points and 7.3 rebounds in four preseason games. The Pacers, who were playing without All-Star Tyrese Haliburton, T.J. McConnell, Aaron Nesmith and Pascal Siakam, were led by Jarace Walker’s 15 points. Myles Turner, Bennedict Mathurin and Ben Sheppard each scored 12 points as eight Pacers scored in double figures. Indiana fell to 1-2 in the preseason and will host the Charlotte Hornets on Thursday, Oct. 17 before opening the regular season in Detroit on Oct. 23. The Pacers host Philadelphia on Sunday, Oct. 27 in their home opener.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taylor University Cheer to Host Kids Spirit Camp on October 26<\/strong> The Taylor University competitive cheer team is hosting a Kids Spirit Camp on Saturday, October 26 from 9:30 am until halftime of the home football game at approximately 2:00 pm. The camp cost is $75 and is for any child in grades kindergarten through sixth grade who would like to experience the excitement of cheering at a college football game. Included in the cost is a shirt, bracelet, bow and one ticket into the game. The camp will include a time of learning cheers and jumps with the Taylor cheer team prior to a devotional and then the Taylor football game against Lawrence Tech at 1:00 pm. At the game, the campers will perform on the field with the Taylor competitive cheer team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
