The Indiana-Purdue Football Game to Kick Off at 7PM this Saturday night at Memorial Stadium <\/strong> The kick time and television designation are set for Indiana\u2019s regular season finale against Purdue in Bloomington. The battle for the Old Oaken Bucket will kick at Memorial Stadium Saturday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. ET and air on FS1.\u00a0 The game is sold out.\u00a0 We\u2019re working to confirm, but this could be the first ever evening kickoff in the history of the series.\u00a0 There have been plenty of games that kicked off in the late afternoon and ended under the lights. This will be the 126th game in the IU vs. Purdue football series, with the Boilermakers holding a 77-42-6 advantage all-time. Indiana (10-1, 7-1) will be competing for a chance to stay in the College Football Playoff conversation.\u00a0 Meanwhile Purdue (1-10, 0-8) has not defeated an FBS team this year, and has not won since Labor Day weekend.\u00a0 ESPN\u2019s FPI gives IU a 97.7% chance to win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It wasn\u2019t until 1925 that the schools began competing for the Old Oaken Bucket. The standard and most widely quoted historical accounts on the origins of the Bucket claim it was taken from a farm between Kent and Hanover, Indiana that was owned by a family named Bruner. This year\u2019s matchup will be the 99th edition of the Old Oaken Bucket Game. Purdue holds a 63-32-3 advantage when the Bucket is up for grabs.  IU has not won the Bucket since 2019, with Purdue winning the last three meetings.  Indiana would have been a heavy favorite to win against Purdue in 2020, but the game was canceled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

#16 North Carolina locks down Indiana University Women’s Basketball to win the Battle 4 Atlantis<\/strong> The 16th Ranked North Carolina Tar Heels dominated the Indiana Hoosiers 69-39 Monday Afternoon to win the Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament at the Imperial Arena at the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island in Nassau Bahamas. The Tar Heels are 6-1 on the season and beat Ball State 63-52 and Villanova 53-36 and held the Hoosiers who were missing starter Sydney Parrish after she was injured in Sunday’s win over Baylor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hoosiers are 4-3 on the season and will return home to Bloomington to host the Maine Black Bears on Sunday at 2 PM in Simon Sjkodt Assembly Hall. Indiana was led by Yarden Garzon with 10 points. The Hoosiers struggled going 16-55 from the field for 29%, 4-26 form three-point range for 15% and 3-6 from the free throw line for 50%. Indiana had 31 rebounds, 7 assists, 5 steals, 1 block and committed 15 turnovers. Shay Ciezki who scored 34 points against Baylor and was held to 5 points. Juliana LaMendola pulled down 11 rebounds and added 6 points in her first start in place of Sydney Parrish. Lexus Bargesser has returned but it is unclear how long Sydney Parrish will be out for, and Lenee Beaumont is still out, and the Hoosiers are going to have to fight the injury bug and depth concerns. The Tar Heels missed their first 8 shots of the game finished 26-61 from the field for 42%, 11-23 from three-point range for 42% and 6-13 from the free throw line for 46%. Indya Nivar scored 15 points and Taryana Crisp added 15: points off the bench and drilled 5 three pointers. Alyssa Utsby pulled down 12 rebounds and added 9 points. The Tar Heels pulled down 47 rebounds, 16 assists, 7 steals, 2 blocks and committed 11 turnovers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana opened the game on 5-0 run and North Carolina scored the next 4 points as the Tar Heels led 11-10 after the first quarter. North Carolina outscored Indiana.21-16 in the second quarter to lead 32-26 at halftime. The Tar Heels controlled the second half holding Indiana to 13 seconds half points. As the Tar Heels outscored Indiana 22-7 in the third quarter and 15-6 in the fourth quarter scoring 37 second half points and shutting down the Hoosier offense. The Heels were hard to stop once they started knocking down shots, but it was the defense that led the way as the Hoosiers were out of sync for the entire game. North Carolina leads the all-time Series 3-1 after Indiana beat North Carolina.87-63 on December 1, 2022, in Bloomington the Tar Heels beat the Hoosiers on December 4, 1989, 80-75 in Chapel Hill North Carolina and 76-58 on January 20,1977, in Lexington Kentucky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana University Swimming sweeps The Ohio State Invitational <\/strong> No. 3\/3 Indiana men’s and women’s swimming and diving swept its midseason meet, the Ohio State Invitational, as the three-day meet concluded Saturday inside the McCorkle Aquatic Center on the campus of the Ohio State University. Heavily favored coming into the meet, the Indiana men delivered by recording 2,995.5 points \u2013 a margin over 500. Indiana women’s swim and dive outlasted the host Buckeyes, pulling away on the final day to earn 2,526.5 points over OSU’s 2,413.5 total. It was the women’s program’s first invitational victory since the 2017-18 season. Indiana has qualified every relay for the 2024 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, as both the men and women notched NCAA A cuts in each of the five events. The Hoosiers totaled three individual A cuts: senior\u00a0Anna Peplowski in the 200-yard freestyle (1:42.36), junior\u00a0Owen McDonald\u00a0in the 200-yard backstroke (1:38.07) and senior\u00a0Josh Matheny\u00a0in the 400-yard freestyle (1:50.31). McDonald’s 200 back time on Saturday re-set his own program record in the event \u2013 the junior transfer went 1:38.13 earlier this month in the dual meet versus Texas. Eleven athletes combined for 18 individual event victories over the three days. Peplowski (500 free, 200 free, 200 back), McDonald (200 IM, 100 back, 200 back) and sophomore\u00a0Miranda Grana (200 IM, 100 fly, 100 back) starred in the lap pool, winning three events each. Senior and three-time NCAA diving champion\u00a0Carson Tyler\u00a0swept the springboard events between the first two days. Indiana will host Cincinnati at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatics Center on December 6, its final dual meet of the fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana Pacers snap a Three Game Losing Streak beating the Washington Wizards at Gainbridge Fieldhouse <\/strong> Pascal Siakam scored 22 points, Tyrese Haliburton had 21 points and nine assists, and the Indiana Pacers snapped a three-game losing streak with a 115-103 victory over the Washington Wizards on Sunday. Rookie Alexandre Sarr and Bilal Coulibaly each had 17 for the Wizards, who have now lost 11 in a row and have the NBA’s worst record at 2-13. Sarr also had a game-high 14 rebounds. Bennedict Mathurin had 16 points, Moses Brown 15 and T.J. McConnell 12 for the Pacers. The Wizards won’t take much solace in staying close for much of the game because another loss in a losing streak is just that, but there were positives amid the setback and the Wizards can build on them with six of their next eight at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Pacers after not playing well defensively for the past three games, allowing 129.6 points per contest, the finish qualified as modest improvement as Indiana allowed just 16 fourth-quarter points. Now 5-3 at home, the team needs to figure out how to win on the road, where it is 2-8. Indiana went on a 7-2 run in a span of about four minutes to build a 105-98 lead with 4:53 remaining. Washington missed six shots during the stretch and was unable to close the gap in the final minutes. Moses Brown, signed last week, scored Indiana’s first eight points and had 11 in the first quarter. The 25-year-old New Yorker is playing for his eighth team in six seasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Detroit Lions dominate the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium <\/strong>\u00a0 Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions spent three months scoring at a historic rate. Now with the weather changing outside,\u00a0they\u2019re winning with old school football, too. Jahmyr Gibbs rushed for two scores, David Montgomery added a third TD run and Detroit’s increasingly stingy defense kept the Indianapolis Colts out of the end zone on Sunday, leading the Lions to their ninth straight win, 24-6. \u201cThis is, whatever it is, 10 quarters without allowing a touchdown and the three last games in the second half we’re not allowing it,\u201d coach Dan Campbell said. \u201cWe talk about it all the time \u2014 limiting points, play physical style, shut down the run \u2014 we were able to do that.\u201d They’ve been doing it all season in their greatest run-in decades but have been more effective lately and it has shown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lions improved to 10-1 for the first time since 1934, their inaugural season in the Motor City. They own the league’s longest active winning streak and are 6-0 on the road this season. While the Lions have scored points by the dozens all season, Campbell’s preference for physical football means they’re equally capable of grinding out wins with the combination of a ball-control offense and an ascending defense that propelled them to this win. Gibbs finished with 21 carries for 90 yards on a day Goff went 26 of 36 with 269 yards and no touchdowns. And for the third straight week, all against AFC South foes, the Lions had a second-half shutout. \u201cIf you can win on the road, you’re normally a pretty damn good team,\u201d Campbell said. \u201cAnd we can win on the road.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Colts (5-7) found out the hard way by losing their second straight home game and for the fourth time in their past five games. Anthony Richardson had another up-and-down game, going 11 of 28 with 172 yards while rushing 10 times for 61 yards. But it was Indy’s inability to finish drives with touchdowns that again cost the team. That flaw was evident right from the start when Richardson took the Colts inside the Lions 5-yard line on the game’s first series and settled for a short field goal when they couldn’t punch it in. \u201cWe’ve got to take advantage of our opportunities,\u201d Colts coach Shane Steichen said. \u201cThis league comes down to inches, it comes down to yards and you’ve got to take advantage of those opportunities. We’ve had issues down in the red zone and you have to look at the tape and clean it up.\u201dDetroit made Indy pay dearly for its offensive miscues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gibbs’ 1-yard TD run on the Lions’ second series made it 7-3 early in the second quarter and after Indy settled for another short field goal, Montgomery spun his way across the goal line for a 6-yard TD and a 14-6 lead. Detroit’s defense made sure that was all the scoring punch it needed. \u201cThose players, we’ve been around each other long enough, they’ve been around each other to know exactly what we’re looking for,\u201d Campbell said. \u201cWe have an identity about us. We know the critical factors as they pertain to winning, and those guys take that stuff serious.\u201d Gibbs’ 5-yard TD run late in the third quarter gave Detroit a 21-6 lead and they closed it out with a 56-yard field goal midway through the fourth. Amon-Ra St. Brown caught six passes for 62 yards for Detroit while Michael Pittman Jr. had six catches for 96 yards for Indy despite leaving briefly in the first half with an injured shoulder. Gibbs’ first score extended Detroit’s league record to 25 consecutive games with a TD run, including the playoffs. He’s also the third Lions player with 1,000 scrimmage yards and 10 TDs in each of his first two pro seasons with Detroit, joining Billy Sims and Barry Sanders. Gibbs and Montgomery have each scored at least one TD in the same game nine times. Detroit host Chicago in its traditional Thanksgiving Day game while the Colts visit New England on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Michael Strahan to drive the Pace Car for the 109th Indy 500 <\/strong> Michael Strahan, Pro Football Hall of Fame member, “Good Morning America” co-host and longtime “FOX NFL Sunday” analyst, has been named honorary Pace Car driver for the\u00a0109th Indianapolis 500. Strahan will drive the 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 coupe and lead the field of 33 drivers to the start of the \u201cThe Greatest Spectacle in Racing.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMichael is an impressive addition to the lineup of all-star athletes and celebrities to serve as honorary Pace Car driver for the Indianapolis 500,\u201d IMS President J. Douglas Boles said. \u201cFrom the gridiron to the broadcast studio, Michael is no stranger to leading a fast-paced field. As we kick off a new era of INDYCAR and the Indy 500 on FOX, Michael will have one of the best seats in the house for the start of the world\u2019s greatest race.\u201d Some previous Pace Car drivers include Morgan Freeman, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Robin Roberts, Patrick Dempsey, Ken Griffey Jr. and Tyrese Haliburton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 coupe has 1,064 horsepower and is capable of going 233 miles per hour. The Corvette has paced the Indy 500 more times than any other car, with 2025 marking the 22nd time overall and 36th for a Chevrolet-branded car.
