He came to Indiana after serving as head coach at the University of Evansville for nine seasons following a stellar playing career with the Purple Aces. He mentored five First Team All-Big Ten players and two NSCAA All-Region players during his 11 years as head coach of the Hoosiers. His best season came in 2007, when IU posted a 13-7-3 mark and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third time in program history. The 2009 season saw the Hoosiers set a then-school record by reeling off six straight wins to open the season, including a 2-1 overtime win against No. 6 Florida at Bill Armstrong Stadium &#8211; the highest ranked opponent the Hoosiers have ever defeated. The native of Lincolnshire, England recruited Orianica Velasquez from Columbia. She would become the first IUWS player to compete in the World Cup (2011) and the Olympics (2012).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>19<sup>th<\/sup> Ranked Illinois visits Indiana University Men&#8217;s Basketball <\/strong>                                                                                                                                                       The 19th Ranked Illinois Fighting Illini visit the Indiana Hoosiers tonight at 7 PM inside Simon Sjkodt Assembly Hall with the game streamed on Peacock. Both teams are coming off a loss on Saturday Illinois lost at home to USC 82-72 while Indiana got blown out at Iowa 85-60. Illinois is 12-4 on the season and 4-2 in the Big Ten and will come into Bloomington with a 3-game road winning streak. Illinois dropped six spots in the Associated Press from 13th to 19<sup>th<\/sup> and five spots from 15<sup>th<\/sup> to 20<sup>th<\/sup> after the home loss to USC. \u00a0\u00a0Indiana is 11-0 at home and 13-4 against teams that have a .500 record or better this season. The Hoosiers are 13-4 overall and 4-2 in the Big Ten\u00a0but 2-4 away from home with all four losses by double-digits. Illinois has been without Leading Scorer Kasparas Jakucionis who has missed the last two games with a forearm injury. The 6-6 200-pound Freshman from Vilnius, Lithuania is averaging 16.4 points and shooting 49 percent from the field along with a team leading 5.4 assists per game. Indiana has been without Malik Reneau for the last three games with a knee injury. Reneau is averaging 14.1 points and 5.9 rebounds for the Hoosiers, and it is uncertain if either one will return for their respective teams tonight.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7-1 Sophomore Tomislav Ivisic averages 12.8 points and leads the team with 8.6 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game and will matchup with Indiana&#8217;s seven-footer Oumar Ballo which will be a good post matchup. Tre White is averaging 11.3 points per game. Kylan Boswell is averaging 11.2 points per game and leads the team with 1.3 steals per game. Freshman Will Riley is averaging 10.9 points per game. There are two Indiana natives on Illinois in Sophomores Jake Davis and Dre Gibbs-Lawhorn. Davis played at Cathedral HS in Indianapolis and transfer to Illinois from Mercer. Davis is averaging 8.5 minutes, 2.7 points, and 1.5 rebound per game and has played in 14 games this season. Gibbs-Lawhorn is from Lafayette and played at four different High Schools in four different states after starting his High School Career at McCutcheon. Gibbs-Lawhorn is averaging 16.5 minutes, 7.2 points and 1.6 rebounds per game and has played in all 16 games.&nbsp; Illinois averages 86.9 points and commits 12 turnovers per game. The Fighting Illini shoot 45 percent from the field, 33 percent from the free throw line and 76 percent from three-point range. The Illini scored 112 points against Eastern Illinois to start season which is a common opponent as Indiana scored 90 against the Panthers. Illinois ranks eight in the Big Ten in scoring 34.9 points per game in the paint with Ivisic averaging 6.1 points. Indiana has had a hard time stopping teams inside with points in the paint.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oumar Ballo is averaging 14 points along with a team leading 9.8 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game. Ballo has had a double in three of the last four games for Indiana and four double doubles on the season. Mackenzie Mgbako is averaging 12.8 points per game but in the last two games he has scored 6 points after a 20-point performance against Penn State in the game prior. Myles Rice is averaging 12.4 points and a team leading 1.3 steals per game and Trey Galloway who averages 7.1 points per game leads the team with 3.9 assists per game.&nbsp;Luke Goode transferred from Illinois to Indiana in the off season and is averaging 7.1 points and shoots 37.3 percent from three-point range. The Fort Wayne native and Homestead HS Graduate played three seasons at Illinois appearing in 76 games with 7 starts scoring 314 points and knocking down 85 three pointers. Goode has played in 17 games with 5 starts averaging 21.8 minutes per game and is 37-94 from the field for 39 percent, 28-75 from three-point range and 19-21 form the free throw line along with 49 rebounds, 26 steals, 17 blocks and 37 turnovers.&nbsp; The Hoosiers average 78 points and commit 12.4 turnovers per game. Indiana is shooting 47 percent from the field, 32 percent from three-point range and 72 percent from the free throw line. Indiana leads the All-Time series 96-92 and the Hoosiers have won 10 of the last 16 matchups and 8 of the last 9 against the Illini in Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. The Hoosiers are 58-31 all-time against Illinois in Bloomington.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Indiana University Track and Field Shows Out in the Commodore Challenge<\/strong>                                                                                                                                  Indiana men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s track and field had a productive day in their first road trip of the season. On the day, the Hoosiers won 15 events and combined for 43 personal bests at David Williams II Recreation &amp; Wellness Center on Saturday. The day started in the field, where freshman\u00a0Josie Page\u00a0had a great start in the women&#8217;s high jump. She finished second in the event with a personal best of 1.71m\/5-7.25. Freshman\u00a0Vince Davero\u00a0had a great performance in the long jump. He finished first in the event with a personal best 7.57m\/24-10.\u00a0 One the track,\u00a0Andrew Mangum\u00a0won the first event for the Hoosiers of the day. He finished the 800m with a personal best 1:50.18. Freshman\u00a0Hannah Alexander\u00a0had a great performance in the women&#8217;s weight throw. She earned a third-place finish with a personal best 19.19m\/62-11.5. Seniors\u00a0Hunter Smith\u00a0(19.62m\/64-4.25) and\u00a0Tyler Reyna\u00a0(19.21m\/63-0.25) set big personal records in the weight throw to finish\u00a0first and second in the event. Freshman\u00a0Seth Brosseau\u00a0had a great showing in the men&#8217;s shot put. He set a personal best (17.65m\/57-11) to win the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The women&#8217;s 1000 meter featured four Hoosiers finishing in the top 10. Sophomore&nbsp;Lily Myers&nbsp;lead the pack finishing third (2:49.46). She was followed by Freshman&nbsp;Veronica Hargrave&nbsp;in fourth (2:49.55), Senior&nbsp;Taylor Fox&nbsp;in sixth (2:52.13), and Freshman&nbsp;Nola Somers Glenn&nbsp;in seventh (2:53.67). On the men&#8217;s side, Sophomore&nbsp;Aidan Lord&nbsp;(2:23.97) and Freshman&nbsp;Matt Kim&nbsp;(2:25.73) took first and third place respectively in the men&#8217;s 1000-meter relay. The Hoosiers swept the top three spots in the women&#8217;s 600 meters. Sophomore&nbsp;Amelia Dodds&nbsp;finished first, followed by Sophomore&nbsp;Cambell Wamsley&nbsp;in second, and Sophomore&nbsp;Ryann Parrish&nbsp;in third.  Junior&nbsp;John Colquitt&nbsp;recorded the third fastest 60-meter hurdle in school history to win the event. Sophomore&nbsp;Garrett Messer&nbsp;also finished second with a time of 8.42.  Junior&nbsp;Makayla Hunter&nbsp;had a strong performance in the women&#8217;s shot put. Her 16.72m\/54-10.25 performance earned third in the event. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Three Hoosiers finished in the top 10 of the 300 meters. Freshman&nbsp;Kiera Davis&nbsp;lead the trio by winning the event (39.25). Sophomore&nbsp;Symone Adams&nbsp;followed in fifth place (40.08) and Junior&nbsp;Kylee Poulton&nbsp;in seventh (40.43).  Senior&nbsp;Morgan Snow&nbsp;came out with the win in the 200 meter (24.64). Sophomore&nbsp;Kristina Vincic&nbsp;also finished third in the event (24.87).  On the men&#8217;s side, Junior&nbsp;Trelee Banks&nbsp;set a new personal best to win the 200-meter finals (21.14) to win the event.&nbsp;Christian Woodson&nbsp;(4., 21.71) and Junior&nbsp;Novo Onovwerosuoke&nbsp;(6., 21.86) were also able to finish in the top 10.  Senior&nbsp;Mahogany Jenkins&nbsp;(12.48\/40-11.5) and Junior&nbsp;Kelly Moran&nbsp;(12.14\/39.10) finished the day for the Hoosiers by finishing first and second respectively in the women&#8217;s triple jump.  To finish the day, the Hoosiers&nbsp;came out on top in the women&#8217;s 4&#215;400 relay. Group A finished with a time of 3:43.78.  Indiana head coach&nbsp;Ed Beathea&nbsp;recaps today&#8217;s meet:  &#8220;Both our Men&#8217;s and Women&#8217;s team demonstrated toughness and determination today. We had several event winners and numerous personal best todays. It was definitely an encouraging start to the 2025 season.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Indiana&#8217;s Facundo Yunis Named to the Big Ten Men\u2019s Tennis Players to Watch List<\/strong>                                                                                                          Indiana&#8217;s\u00a0Facundo Yunis\u00a0was named to the Big Ten Men&#8217;s Tennis Players to Watch List on Friday. Yunis was one of 14 players selected to the preseason watch list. In the fall, Yunis went 5-2 in singles play and 9-3 in doubles competition. Yunis and teammate\u00a0Jip van Assendelft\u00a0qualified for the NCAA Doubles Championships and reached the Round of 16. In the 2023-24 season, Yunis was 12-9 playing at No. 1 and 2 singles and went 14-4 in doubles matches. Yunis was an All-Academic Big Ten selection, as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Indiana University Wrestling Drops Home Dual to Rutgers<\/strong> <strong>\u00a0<\/strong>                                                                                                                                                      No. 24 Indiana fell in a hard-fought match to No. 16 Rutgers, 28-6, on Friday night at Wilkinson Hall. The Hoosiers were in a close dual early with it being 7-3 after three matches, but Rutgers won six of the last seven bouts to pull away. Indiana&#8217;s season record falls to 4-2 and 0-2 in the Big Ten with the loss. Indiana&#8217;s\u00a0Ryan Garvick\u00a0(157) was up on No. 31 Connor Harer, 2-1, after scoring on a two-point near-fall in the second period. Harer scored on a late takedown to take the bout by decision, 4-2. No. 16\u00a0Tyler Lillard\u00a0(165) got Indiana on the board with a 7-2 win by decision. He used two takedowns to get the win over No. 26 Anthony White. Indiana heavyweight and No. 23\u00a0Jacob Bullock\u00a0fell in a heartbreaker to No. 8 Yaraslau Slavikouski, losing narrowly in the tiebreakers. \u00a0Henry Porter\u00a0(141) finished the dual off with a win for Indiana, defeating Max Hermes by decision, 11-4. Lillard&#8217;s win over White was his fourth ranked victory of the season and his second over White. Porter&#8217;s win improved his season record to 10-5. \u00a0Matt Hart\u00a0made his first career dual appearance.<br>There were four rematches of common opponents in the dual that had occurred int the Midlands Championships. Indiana will be back in action when it faces rival Purdue on Friday at 7 p.m. in Mackey Arena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Indiana Pacers end the Cleveland Cavaliers 12-Game Winning Streak  <\/strong>                                                                                                                                        Andrew Nembhard scored 19 points, Pascal Siakam had 18 points and nine rebounds, and the\u00a0Indiana Pacers\u00a0ended NBA-leading Cleveland&#8217;s winning streak at 12 games, beating the Cavaliers 108-93 on Sunday night. The teams will complete the home-and-home set Tuesday night in Indianapolis. Myles Turner added 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Jarace Walker had eight points and 12 rebounds off the bench to help Indiana win its sixth straight. The Pacers held the Cavaliers to a season low in points and outscored them 68-40 in the second half. Cleveland lost for the first time since Dec. 8 at Miami. It is 33-5 overall and 20-2 at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. Darius Garland had 20 points and seven assists for the Cavs. Donovan Mitchell scored 19 points and Evan Mobley had 16 points and 12 rebounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pacers All-Star point guard Tyrese Haliburton, who has appeared in all 40 games and is averaging team highs of 8.9 assists and 35.0 minutes, sat out the second half after experiencing left hamstring tightness. He had two points and five assists.  Indiana coach Rick Carlisle raved about Cleveland\u2019s depth and style under new coach Kenny Atkinson, saying, \u201cThey don\u2019t have any weaknesses. I mean, you can\u2019t find any. All of their guys can score, and those guys play defense, too.\u201d Immediately after the Cavaliers built their largest lead at 60-45 in the third, Indiana used a 32-7 run to seize a double-digit advantage. Backup power forward Obi Toppin fueled the surge with 10 points in a five-minute span, including a steal-and-slam in the backcourt. The Cavaliers, who are shooting a league-high 40.1% on 3-pointers, made just 11 of 41. They misfired on 15 of their first 16 attempts in the second half and finished with a season-low 26.8%.
