Woman\u2019s dead body found on the road in Owen County Attorney General Todd Rokita calls on President Biden to reverse unlawful vaccine mandate<\/strong> \u201cThis gross example of federal bureaucratic overreach has nothing to do with whether it\u2019s a good idea to get vaccinated,\u201d Attorney General Rokita said. \u201cBut it has everything to do with the Biden administration\u2019s total disrespect for individual liberties and the prerogative of states to govern their own affairs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n In a multistate letter to President Biden, Attorney General Rokita and 23 other attorneys general explain that the Biden administration\u2019s \u201cdisastrous and counterproductive\u201d plan amounts to an illegal use of the Occupational Safety and Health Act. On Sept. 9, President Biden announced he would impose the mandate via an emergency temporary standard issued by the U.S. Department of Labor under the aforementioned act. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration would be charged with enforcing the mandate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIf the president does not reverse course, he\u2019s going to face lawsuits,\u201d Attorney General Rokita said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Allowing the U.S. Department of Labor to mandate vaccines alters the constitutional balance of power, which gives states primary authority over such matters. A draconian mandate might not have the intended effect of increasing the numbers of vaccinated Americans. And such a measure might further deplete the ranks of needed workers in fields such as health care when employees choose to leave jobs rather than comply with the mandate. Even avid proponents of getting vaccinated are troubled by the Biden administration\u2019s overreach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/strong>The Owen County Sheriff\u2019s Department is investigating a potential homicide, after the body of an unidentified woman was found alongside the road on Tuesday evening. Deputies were dispatched to the area of Texas Pike near Manhattan Road after emergency dispatch received a call stating that there was a person alongside the road. The case is under investigation, and those with any information about the incident are encouraged to contact the police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
