IU went on a 12-0 run in game one to retake the lead and never trailed the rest of the way. The Hoosiers finished off a commanding sweep (25-19, 25-15, 25-12) of Maryland to kick start the second half of the Big Ten season. IU paired a strong serving night with an effective offensive evening to make quick work of the hosts in College Park. The Hoosiers recorded 10 aces in just three sets, the third time this year that the team has been in double digits in the serving department. Graduate student outside hitter Jessica Smith became the seventh player in program history to record six aces in a single match.

Senior outside hitter Candela Alonso-Corcelles led the way offensively with 17 kills on a .419 hitting percentage. Her left-side counterpart, freshman outside hitter Jaidyn Jager, provided 10 kills and a career-high 13 digs. As a team, the Hoosiers hit .344 (45-12-96) behind 33 assists from freshman setter Teodora Kričković. Freshman middle blocker Victoria Gray was all over the ball on Friday evening. She had nine kills at a .571 hitting percentage and matched a career high with seven blocks. She had a career-high four digs in the win. IU did a great job at managing off-speed shots from Maryland with 45 digs and eight blocks as a team.

IU’s win in College Park was the fourth-straight road win at Maryland. It also helped match a program record for road wins (7) in a single season. The Hoosiers now have eight wins in conference play this year. It’s the first time since 1987-90 that the program has won at least eight conference games in four-straight years (2022-25). The Hoosiers will get the day off today before meeting the defending national champions, Penn State, on Sunday afternoon in Rec Hall. The contest will be broadcasted on Big Ten Network to a national audience with Jason Knapp and Mac Podraza on the call.

Indiana Men Finish 12th, Women 11th at 2025 Big Ten Cross Country Championships The Indiana cross country teams finished 12th (men) and 11th (women) at the 2025 Big Ten Cross Country Championships on Friday morning at Michigan State from the Forest Akers East Golf Course. The junior duo scored 18 apiece, which led all scorers. Day knocked down a game-high four triples and was hot right off the tip, while Combs shot an efficient 7-11 from the field and grabbed eight rebounds in a solid display. TU had an incredible start, taking a 12-0 lead and extending the advantage to 21-2 in the first eight minutes of Action. Day led the early charge on the offensive end with 13 points as the defense forced Judson into missing eight of its first nine shots and four quick turnovers.

The Eagles slowly got into the game and eventually cut the lead to four at 27-23 with a pair of 8-0 runs broken up by a trio of layups by Combs. The Trojans regained control as the decisive ball movement led to open shots as TU took a 45-33 advantage into halftime. Day notched four of his six helpers in the final seven minutes of the opening half as the catalyst for the TU offense. Judson hit a trio of buckets early in the second to trim the lead to seven before TU’s depth showed up and showed out with six players scoring in a decisive 15-2 run to push the lead to 20.

Taylor continued to use its superior size down low, outrebounding the Eagles 49-29 and using that advantage to produce 18 second-chance points compared to three for Judson. The free-flowing offense notched 23 assists on 31 buckets, as freshman Carson Gould dished out six assists to match Day. Nathan Baker had a terrific collegiate debut with 12 points on seven shots, adding three rebounds and an assist. The final Trojan in double figures was another junior, Quincy transfer Anthony McGhee, who scored 10 points and was a pair of boards away from a double double. Taylor (1-0) faces off against Oakland City (0-0) in its home opener on Monday, November 3rd, inside Odle Arena with tip set for 7:00 pm.

Taylor University Softball Announces Weekly Hitting Clinics in November The Taylor softball program is putting on weekly hitting clinics starting today inside Stillman Fieldhouse.
