#14 Iowa Overcomes 16 Point Halftime Deficit to Beat Indiana University Women’s Basketball <\/strong> The Iowa Hawkeyes were down 35-19 at halftime and outscored the Indiana Hoosiers 37-18 in the second half to win 56-53 Sunday Evening in Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. Iowa is 14-2 overall and 5-0 in the Big Ten and remain at the top of standings. Indiana is 11-7 overall and 0-6 in the Big Ten and will host the Washington Huskies on Wednesday Night at 7 PM. Shay Ciezki led Indiana with 21 points and scored 19 points in first half. Ciezki was 8-13 from the field, 1-4 from three-point range and 2-3 from the free throw line in the first half. Ciezki was 1-9 in the second half from the field, 0-6 from three-point range with 2 points in the second half. Ciezki scored as many points as the Iowa Hawkeyes had in the first half and said after the game \u201cIowa did a good job on adjustments at halftime, and the second half is on me for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zania Socka-Nuegmen scored 12 points along with 12 rebounds for her second consecutive double-double and her fifth of the season. Neveah Caffey added 7 points; Lenee Beaumont scored 5 points as Jerni Kiaku and Edessa Noyan scored 4 points apiece. Maya Makalusky and Phoenix Stotjin played but did not score. Indiana finished the game 24-65 from the field for 37%, 2-19 from three-point range for 10% and 3-4 from the free throw line for 75%. Indiana pulled down 40 rebounds, dished out 7 assists, 4 steals, 1 block, 32 points in the paint and 14 turnovers. Ava Heiden and Chazadi \u201cChit-Chat\u201d Wright led the Hawkeyes with 13 points each. Hannah Stuelke scored 12 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season and her second in the last three games. Iowa finished the game 21-59 from the field for 35%, 4-16 from three-point range for 25% and 10-16 from the free throw line for 62%. Iowa pulled down 40 rebounds, dished out 10 assists, 10 steals, 6 blocks, 30 points in the paint and 10 turnovers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana took control in the first half after the game was tied 2-2 as the Hoosiers went on a 10-0 run as the Hoosiers led 20-8 after the first quarter. The Hoosiers were 10-22 from the field for 45% and 0-3 from the field and held the Hawkeyes to 2-14 from the field for 14% and 0-6 from downtown and 4-4 from the free throw line. Ava Heiden went to work for Iowa in the second quarter, scoring all nine of her points, going for 4-9 from the field and 1-2 from the free throw line. Indiana outscored Iowa 15-11 in the second quarter and went on an 8-0 run in the last 1:58 to lead 35-19 at the break as Iowa did not score a point for the final two minutes and forty-two seconds. Indiana was 16-35 from the field for 45%, 1-8 from three-point range for 12% and 2-3 from the free throw line for 66%. Indiana had 23 Rebounds, 5 Assists, 2 Steals 0 Blocks 7 Turnovers and 20 Points in the Paint in the first half. Iowa was 7-28 from the field for 25%, 0-8 from three-point range and 5-8 from the free throw line for 62%. Iowa had 17 Rebounds, 2 Assists, 5 Steals, 1 Block 8 Turnovers and 14 Points in the Paint in the first half.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Third Quarter was all Iowa as they outscored Indiana 19-4 in the third quarter as the Hoosiers struggled to come out of the locker room after a strong first half which has been the case all season and does not, please Head Coach Teri Moren. Indiana was 2-13 from the field, 0-6 from three-point range and had 5 turnovers. \u201cIt was all of them not just one of them that just came down and put up bad shots\u201d Moren Said after the game. Moren knew that Iowa \u201cHad a big run in them\u201d and that third quarter just that as the Hawkeyes were 7-17 from the field, 3-6 from three-point range and 2-2 from the free throw line and had 1 turnover in the third quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana led 39-38 going into the final ten minutes. Iowa outscored Indiana 18-14 in the fourth quarter. Indiana led 50-48 with 2:53 left after Lenee Beaumont was fouled on a made basket and went to the line to complete the three-point play. Iowa scored the next 8 points and Neveah Caffey hit a three at the buzzer to make the game a three-point difference. Iowa leads the all-time series 55-24 and 19-19 all-time Bloomington as Iowa snaps a two-game losing streak against the Hoosiers. Indiana has played a tough stretch with three ranked opponents in a row, and they have played close games against Nebraska and Iowa after their first four Big Ten games were double-digit losses. There was some miscommunication at the end of the game as Indiana fouled in the final minute even though they were told not to foul and Head Coach Teri Moren said, \u201cI have got to do better and will continue to get them to where we want to be because we are far from where we want to be.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Four Star Wide Receiver Ja’Hyde Brown Commits to Indiana University Football for 2027<\/strong> Less than 24 hours after securing a spot in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, Indiana football secured a big class of 2027 commitment. Four-star wide receiver Ja\u2019Hyde Brown announced his commitment to IU on Saturday during the Navy All-American Bowl. \u201cI just felt like the time was right,\u201d he said on Peacock after putting on an Indiana hat. Brown chose Indiana over Louisville, Alabama, Vanderbilt, and Ole Miss. Per 247Sports, he held offers from 24 programs in total, including other Big Ten offers from Maryland, Purdue, and Wisconsin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Louisville, Ky. native caught a state-high 98 passes for 1,556 yards and 24 touchdowns as a junior at Christian Academy, leading the program to a perfect 15-0 record and its fourth-straight championship. The 5-foot-11 Brown is a dynamic playmaker who can be utilized in a number of ways.  He\u2019ll likely work primarily from the slot and possibly as a returner in college. This is Indiana\u2019s third commit for the class of 2027, joining Park Ridge, Ill. quarterback Jameson Purcell and Ocala, Fla. wide receiver James Bethea. Brown is the highest-rated player of the group. Brown hasn\u2019t been surprised by IU\u2019s success in the CFP, including Friday\u2019s 56-22 beatdown of Oregon in the Peach bowl. \u201cIt\u2019s what coach Cig does,\u201d Brown said on Peacock. \u201cHe plays top teams and he beats them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana University Football Lands Four Star Athlete Monsanna Torbert Jr. for 2027 <\/strong> Indiana football has landed its second high school player during the Navy All-American Bowl. Four-star athlete Mosanna Torbert Jr. committed to the Hoosiers during the game on Saturday, shortly after wide receiver Ja\u2019Hyde Brown did the same. The Cincinnati native chose IU over Iowa, Maryland, Cincinnati, and Pittsburgh. Per 247Sports, Torbert had 14 total offers, including Kentucky and Purdue, though the UK offer came from the Wildcats\u2019 old staff under Mark Stoops. The 6-foot, 170-pound Torbert is listed as an athlete because he did it all for Taft High as a junior, playing both quarterback and defensive back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hoosiers now have four commits in the class of 2027. Brown and Torbert join quarterback Jameson Purcell and wide receiver James Bethea. Safety Grayson Hobbs Commits to Indiana University Football for 2027<\/strong> Indiana football is reaping the benefits of its College Football Playoff success in its recruiting efforts. The Hoosiers have now landed three high school commitments on Saturday, one day after winning the Peach Bowl to advance to the national title game. Class of 2027 safety Garyon Hobbs is the latest to commit to Curt Cignetti\u2019s program Saturday, along with wide receiver Ja\u2019Hyde Brown and athlete Monsanna Torbert. Hobbs is a three-star recruit, per 247Sports Composite, and he checks in at 5-foot-11 and 198 pounds. 247Sports has him listed as an athlete, but Rivals and On3 referred to him as a safety. Hobbs chose the Hoosiers over other 17 other offers, including Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, Michigan, Michigan State, Clemson, Missouri, Purdue, and Wisconsin, among others. The Louisville native plays at Atherton High but is transferring to Christian Academy next season to join forces with Brown. And like Brown, Hobbs also announced his commitment during the Navy All-American Bowl. IU now has five commitments for the class of 2027. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indy Ignite Volleyball Wins the Season Opener Against the Dallas Pulse <\/strong> The Indy Ignite started their 2026 season with a win over the Dallas Pulse! After dropping the first set 27-25, the Ignite bounced back to sweep the next three by scores of 27-25, 26-24 and 25-20 to win their season opener for the second year in a row. This was head coach Lauren Bertolacci’s Major League Volleyball debut. \u201cI think we knew that we would have to play ugly today, that we\u2019re not fully refined yet, but we had that mantra,\u201d Bertolacci said. \u201cWe played ugly but we played really tough, and the tougher team wins in the end.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Opposite hitter Azhani Tealer led the Ignite by posting a double-double with 19 kills and 16 digs, which are both team highs.  \u201cIt was fun to see a lot of people come in,\u201d Tealer said. \u201cWe have talked about our depth for a long time now and it was cool to see that in action. One of the first things Lauren said when she arrived was that you don\u2019t have to play well to win, and we didn\u2019t always do that and we won, and I love it. It was cool.\u201d Outside hitter Leketor Member-Meneh also posted a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs, outside hitter Kayla Lund had nine kills and nine digs and setter Mia Tuaniga had 32 assists and four kills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana Pacers on a Two Game Winning Streak  <\/strong> Andrew Nembhard had 29 points and nine assists, Aaron Nesmith added 12 points and nine rebounds before an early exit and the Indiana Pacers routed the Miami Heat 123-99 on Saturday night. Indiana matched its longest winning streak of the season with a rare second straight victory, this time taking the easy route. The Pacers never trailed and held a double-digit lead for most of the game. The Pacers made 17 3-pointers, one short of their season high, with Nembhard matching his season best with four. Backup Micah Potter made four 3s and finished with 14 points. Jarace Walker had 13 points. Tyler Herro had 21 points, seven rebounds and four assists on a night Miami shot just 39.1% from the field. Jaime Jaquez Jr. added 16 points, and Bam Adebayo had 13 points and nine rebounds. Miami has lost three of its last four and missed its first 11 3s on Saturday. They used first-quarter runs of 12-2 and 9-0 to build an early 28-12 cushion. Miami trailed 36-18 entering the second quarter. Indianapolis Colts Guard Quenton Nelson named Associated Press Second Team All-Pro <\/strong> <\/a> Indianapolis Colts guard Quenton Nelson has been named Second Team All-Pro, the Associated Press announced Saturday morning.  Nelson started all 17 games for the Colts this season.  He has the most total All-Pro selections (six) and the most First Team All-Pro selections (three from 2018-20) by a guard in franchise history.  Nelson is the first Colts player to be chosen for eight consecutive Pro Bowls since Peyton Manning. Nelson was also named Second Team All-Pro in 2021 and 2024. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
