Indiana University Women’s Basketball Faces another Road Test at #12 Ohio State\u00a0<\/strong> \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 The Indiana Hoosiers have had a week to “sit in it” after an 82-63 loss to the Washington Huskies on January 14, at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall travel to Columbus, Ohio to battle #12 Ohio State Buckeyes tonight at 8 PM with the game the streaming on Peacock.\u00a0\u00a0Indiana is 11-8 on the season and 0-7 Big Ten and looking to break a six-game losing streak. The Hoosiers have lost five of the seven Big Ten games by double digits. Coach Teri Moren has not been happy with her team’s performance during the restart of Big Ten Play.\u00a0 The Hoosiers have lacked rebounding, frontcourt depth and too many turnovers\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0Shay Ciezki is leading the Hoosiers with 23.2 points and 1.4 steals per game. Lenne Beaumont is averaging 13.3 points per game and a team leading 3.1 assists per game. Zania Socka-Nguemen averages 11.8 points and a team leading 8.5 rebounds per game, Edessa Noyan leads the team with 0.3 blocks per game while averaging 4.9 rebounds and 4.9 points per game.\u00a0 Indiana is averaging 70.8 points, 12.3 assists and 14.5 turnovers per game. The Hoosiers are shooting 46% from the field, 36% from three-point range and 77% from three-point range.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ohio State is 17-2 overall and 6-1 in the Big Ten. The Buckeyes lost at Connecticut 100-68 on November 16, and UCLA at home 82-75 on December 28. The Buckeyes enter the game on a six-game winning streak and beat TCU on Monday 71-69 in Newark, New Jersey.\u00a0 Jaloni Cambridge is leading the team with 21.6 points and 4.5 assists per game. Cambridge has scored double digits every game this season. Chance Gray averages 13.7 points per game. Kylee Kitts leads the Buckeyes with 7.1 rebounds and averages 9.3 points per game. Kennedy Cambridge leads the team with 4.1 steals per game and averages 8.5 points per game. Elsa Lemmila leads the team with 2 blocks and 8.3 points per game.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Buckeyes averages 85.4 points, 19.4 assists and 13.8 turnovers per game. The Buckeyes shoot 46% from the field, 31% percent from three-point range and 76 percent from the free throw line. Head Coach Kevin McGuff is 241-111 in his 13th season at Ohio State and 496-212 in 23 seasons overall.\u00a0 \u00a0Ohio State has an 11-player roster that represents Ohio, Tennessee, North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Ukraine, Finland and Canada. There are 2 Seniors, 1 Junior, 3 Sophomores and 5 Freshman on the team. Chipotle Celebrates IU Football’s National Championship with a BOGO Deal <\/strong>  Indiana Hoosiers fans are eating good. If the national championship wasn\u2019t enough, the feast continues as Chipotle restaurants in Indiana offer IU fans a buy one, get one free entree in celebration of the historic win. Former Indiana University Quarterback Alberto Mendoza Commits to Georgia Tech <\/strong> IU quarterback Alberto Mendoza has committed to transfer to Georgia Tech, according to reports. Mendoza was the backup quarterback for the national championship Hoosiers\u2019 team, playing behind his older brother, Fernando Mendoza. Alberto played in nine games this season. He completed 18 of his 24 passes for 286 yards and five touchdowns, with one interception. He also rushed for 190 yards and a touchdown. IU\u2019s projected starting quarterback for the 2026 season is TCU transfer Josh Hoover.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Big Ten to announce the 2026 Conference Football Schedule on Tuesday January 27th <\/strong> The Big Ten football schedule for the 2026 season will be released next week, according to an announcement from the league on Tuesday. The complete 2026 Big Ten football schedule will be unveiled on Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 5:30pm ET \/ 4:30pm CT on a special release show on the Big Ten Network and the FOX app. Big Ten teams will again play a nine-game conference schedule with three non-conference opponents. The Big Ten\u2019s scheduling model, announced in 2023, ensures that each team will play every other conference opponent at least twice \u2013 once home and once away \u2013 and will play rotating opponents no more than three times in a five-year period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Big Ten also announced the date of one big conference matchup next season. The national champion Indiana Hoosiers will host the Ohio State Buckeyes in Bloomington on Saturday, Oct. 17. The Big Ten will place the top two teams in the overall standings into the Big Ten Championship Game, which will likely be set for Saturday, Dec. 5, 2026. Indianapolis Motor Speedway Switches from Pepsi to Coke <\/strong> The Pepsi Era is over at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. On Wednesday, IMS announced a multiyear partnership designating Coca-Cola as the official soft drink and water sponsor of the speedway. \u201cSharing a Coke with fellow race fans will once again be a Race Day tradition,\u201d said INDYCAR and IMS President J. Douglas Boles. Coca-Cola has a long history with IMS. When the track first opened in 1909, guests could buy a bottle of Coca-Cola for only five cents. But for the past six years, Coke has been on the outside looking in. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2019, Pepsi and Mountain Dew were named the official soda beverages of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in a multiyear deal that shut out the long-time partner Coca-Cola. Since then, racing fans visiting the track have quenched their thirst with Pepsi, Mountain Dew and Aquafina. Now, Coca-Cola is once again a race day tradition as IMS partners with Coca-Cola Consolidated, the largest Coca-Cola bottler in the United States. UCLA Knocks off #4 Purdue ending the Boilermakers Nine-Game Winning Streak <\/strong> Tyler Bilodeau hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with eight seconds remaining, and UCLA rallied to edge No. 4 Purdue 69-67 on Tuesday night, snapping the Boilermakers’ nine-game winning streak in their first visit to Pauley Pavilion in 26 years. C.J. Cox missed a potential game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer and Xavier Booker grabbed the defensive rebound as time expired. Fans stormed the court and jumped up and down in celebration on a night when the Bruins honored John Wooden, the Indiana native and Purdue alumnus who coached them to a record 10 national championships. Donovan Dent, who assisted on the winning basket, had 23 points and 13 assists to lead the Bruins (13-6, 5-3 Big Ten). Bilodeau finished with 14, and Eric Dailey Jr. added 12 points and seven rebounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cox led the Boilermakers (17-2, 7-1) with 16 points and Braden Smith scored 12. Their first loss in league play kept them from taking sole possession of first place over idle Nebraska. Tied at halftime, neither team led by more than six points in the second half. Smith hit a 3-pointer and Trey Kaufman-Renn scored to keep Purdue ahead 67-61. But the Bruins scored the game’s final seven points. Dent made a 3-pointer and Dailey scored on a layup off Trent Perry’s steal before Bilodeau’s game-winner. Purdue blew a 12-point lead in the first half, when the Bruins closed with a 17-5 run \u2014 including 11 in a row \u2014 to tie it 32-all at the break. Dent had eight points in the spurt while UCLA’s defense forced turnovers and kept the Boilermakers scoreless for over 3 1\/2 minutes. It was Purdue’s first loss since Dec. 6 against Iowa State. Purdue hosts Illinois at Mackey Arena on Saturday at 3 PM with game televised on FOX. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ed Carpenter to Pursue 23rd Indianapolis 500 start in 2026 <\/strong> Ed Carpenter will give the \u201cGreatest Spectacle in Racing\u201d another go. The NTT IndyCar Series announced on X that Carpenter, 44, will return to the No. 33 Ed Carpenter Racing Chevrolet for the 2026 Indianapolis 500. Carpenter is winless in 22 tries at Indianapolis, tying him with George Snider for the most Indy 500 starts without a win. He made his first appearance at Indianapolis in 2004, rolling off 16th and finishing 31st for Team Cheever. Even though he\u2019s never won at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Carpenter certainly knows his way around the track. He has three Indy 500 poles (2013, 2014, 2018) and has made the front row five times, most recently in 2019. Carpenter logged a career-best second-place finish at Indianapolis in 2018.
