On top of that, the Hoosiers had three wrestlers reach the podium and two of them who had the best individual placement at Big Tens of any Hoosier since 2019. No. 4 Seed Jacob Moran (125) and No. 8 Seed Gabe Sollars (197) each reached the third-place match and narrowly lost to earn a strong fourth place finish. The last Hoosier to finish in fourth place or better at the Big Ten Championships was Elijah Oliver (125) in 2019. In the consolation semifinals, both Moran and Sollars won decisively to advance in the wrestle backs. Moran defeated No. 9 Seed Diego Sotelo (Michigan) in a 9-7 decision and Sollars defeated No. 6 Seed Wyatt Ingham (Wisconsin) in an 8-1 decision to earn their spot in the third-place matches. In that last match of the consolation bracket, both Hoosiers were close but fell just short to its opponents. Moran faced off against No. 2 Nic Bouzakis (Ohio State) and trailed 4-2 with 20 seconds left, he shot and looked to secure a takedown on the edge of the mat, but was out of bounds. Bouzakis held on in the closing seconds to win the match.

Sollars trailed 6-1 early to No. 5 Seed Luke Geog (Ohio State) but clawed his way back to make it a 7-5 score in the third period but could not score the final takedown to take the match. Moran, Sollars and Lowery each clinched bids yesterday. No. 6 Seed Derek Gilcher (174) joined the group to earn automatic bids today. In the 11th Place Semifinal match, he faced No. 10 Seed Eddie Enright (Northwestern) and fought to an 11-7 win. With there being 10 available automatic bids for the Big Ten at 174 lbs., Gilcher clinched his spot with his win in that match. This will be his second career NCAA Tournament appearance. As a team, Indiana finished with 40.0 points and a 10th place spot in the team score. It is Indiana’s best showing at the Big Ten Championships since 2012 when the team scored 41.0 points and tied for 10th. Pierce has agreed to a four-year, $114 million contract with the Colts in NFL free agency, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport. Pierce – a second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft – is coming off a his best season as a pro. He led the Colts with 1,003 receiving yards and logged a career-best 47 catches while adding six touchdowns to his ledger. The wide receiver (6-3, 211 pounds) also led the NFL in both average depth of target (20) and yards per reception (21.3) for a second consecutive season.

He routinely showed off both quality deep speed and excellent contested catching abilities while logging a passer rating of 113.7 when targeted, which ranked 11th-best in the NFL, per Pro Football Focus. Many believed the Colts would slap Pierce with the franchise tag to prevent the soon-to-be 26-year-old from hitting the open market. However, Indianapolis instead opted to use the transition tag on quarterback Daniel Jones, preventing them from tagging Pierce and giving him an opportunity to reach the open market. Even so, the Colts managed to retain Pierce on a big-money contract. Now, the Cincinnati product will continue in his role as Indianapolis’ top receiving option for the 2026 NFL season.

Indy 500 Camping and Parking Sold Out The Indy 500 is quickly approaching on Sunday, May 24, and Race Day parking and camping are already sold out for the 110th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge. The residents and businesses of Speedway and other communities welcome these visitors and open their yards and lots to those looking for alternate parking options. Schefter reported the deal includes a swap of late-round picks plus a contract extension for 3 years and $59 million from Pittsburgh. The 2020 second-round pick ranks fifth in franchise history with 485 receptions and seventh with 5,254 yards, but is coming off a down season – 80 catches and 784 yards along with a career-high seven TDs – and carries a $29 million hit against the salary cap. Trading Pittman could open up to $24 million in salary cap space.

The reported cap space savings put Pittman’s future with Indianapolis in doubt. After the Colts closed last season with a 38-30 loss at Houston, the veteran receiver understood things could change. “You know, I’ve been here for six years, and it’s been a good six, and I’m hoping it’s not, but if it’s my last, then I’ve really had a great time playing here,” Pittman told reporters in the locker room. “Every player is self-aware. It changed, and things went downhill. “Obviously, when you have a year like this, you know changes come. I’m not here thinking that anything is safe. (I’ve) just got to work on the things I can do better. The team has agreed to terms with former Tennessee Titans defensive end Arden Key on a two-year, $20 million contract with $11 million in guarantees, according to a source. NFL Network was first to report the agreement. Key, 29, has had at least 4 sacks in each of his last five seasons, the last three with the Titans. In eight seasons and 116 games overall with Tennessee, Jacksonville, San Francisco and the Raiders, he’s had 30.5 sacks, 192 tackles, 39 tackles for loss and 96 quarterback hits. The 6-5, 240-pound Key collected 4 sacks and 11 quarterback hits in 12 games for the Titans last season. He’s the latest addition to coordinator Lou Anarumo’s defensive front. General manager Chris Ballard acquired defensive tackle Colby Wooden in a trade with Green Bay at the expense of linebacker Zaire Franklin. The Colts are expected to lose several front-line defensive linemen to free agency, including Kwity Paye, Samson Ebukam, Tyquan Lewis and Neville Gallimore. The pass rush was inconsistent last season, finishing in the middle of the pack with 39. Laiatu Latu led the team with 8.5.
