The forward is the second Indiana player reportedly departing for the portal as of Thursday, joining Phoenix Stotijn. Wiseman, a Martinsville, Ind. native, entered college hoping to make a lasting impact down the road in Bloomington. But it never materialized for the 6-foot-4 sophomore, appearing in 26 games across her two seasons with the program. She averaged 5.1 minutes per game in her IU career, with 0.3 points and one rebound per game. The Hoosiers are down to 12 scholarship players remaining for next year’s roster, including their four incoming freshmen. Obviously, more players could join Wiseman and Stotijn in the portal, and Indiana can’t add its own transfers until the portal opens on April 6.

Forward Jade Ondineme is also planning to enter the transfer portal, per On3. This will mark three portal entrants for the Hoosiers. The junior college transfer appeared in 18 games this season and took on a more tangible role later in the season. With Zania Socka-Nguemen out with an injury, IU lacked frontcourt depth. Ondineme stepped into the reserve center role behind Edessa Noyan, and though she still played only sparingly, she saw action in six of Indiana’s last eight games, averaging 10.3 minutes. IU is now down to 11 scholarship players for 2026-27.

Indiana University Women’s Basketball Signee Addy Nyemcheck Named New Jersey Gatorade Player of the Year IU women’s basketball signee Addy Nyemchek has been named New Jersey Gatorade Player of the Year. Nyemchek becomes the fourth Gatorade Player of the Year on Indiana’s roster for 2026-27, joining Lenée Beaumont (Illinois, 2023), Maya Makalusky (Indiana, 2025), and Nevaeh Caffey (Missouri, 2025). The No. 28 recruit in the class of 2026 per ESPN, Nyemchek is also the first high school commit in Indiana program history to be selected to the McDonald’s All-American Game. The 6-foot-2 guard led Red Bank Catholic High to a state championship this season with a 30-2 record. Nyemchek, per MaxPreps, averaged 19.8 points, seven rebounds, four assists, 2.9 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game while shooting 48 percent from the field and 42 percent from 3-point range. Nyemchek is one of the headliners of Indiana’s strong incoming freshman class, perhaps the best of Teri Moren’s tenure in Bloomington, going on 13 years next fall. ESPN ranks the Hoosiers’ class No. 8 in the country, with Nyemchek, combo guard GiGi Battle (No. 32), point guard Ashlinn James (No. 64) joining the program; center Zoe Jackson is also part of the class, but she enrolled early and joined IU in January.

Cailtin Clark Struggles in Team USA’s FIBA World Cup Qualifying Win over Puerto Rico Team USA cruised to a 91-48 win over hosts Puerto Rico in the FIBA World Cup Qualifying tournament on Thursday night, and the woman of the match was Sky star Angel Reese. In her second game for the U.S. national team, Reese recorded a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds while also adding two assists in 16 minutes. Other big contributors included reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year Paige Bueckers, who led the team in scoring with 16 points on 7-of-12 shooting (and was +25 in 21 minutes played). Both Kelsey Plum and Kiki Iriafen also showed up on offense, while Caitlin Clark noticeably struggled. Clark, who recorded a double-double (17 points, 12 assists) in her national team debut against Senegal on Wednesday, went just 2-of-6 from the field and 1-of-5 from three. Clark finished with eight points, two assists and three rebounds in what turned out to be a relatively easy win for Team USA. Team USA, who have won gold at four straight World Cups and 11 overall, will play three more games over the next week against Italy, New Zealand and Spain.

Purdue Men’s Basketball Handels Northwestern in the Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament Third Round Braden Smith had 16 assists to climb into second on the NCAA career list, and No. 18 Purdue outmuscled Northwestern for an 81-68 victory on Thursday that moved the Boilermakers into the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament. Smith is up to 1,045 assists in 142 career games, passing Ed Cota (1,030) and Chris Corchiani (1,038) with another smooth performance for the Boilermakers. Bobby Hurley is No. 1 with 1,076 assists in 140 games for Duke from 1989-93. Next up for Purdue is No. 11 Nebraska on Friday. Another Kaufman-Renn basket helped Purdue to a 45-21 advantage at the break. The Boilermakers outscored the Wildcats 22-6 in the paint in the first half.
