The win clinched a third-straight Big Ten series victory and marks the team\u2019s third win in a row. Indiana is now 24-6 on the season and 6-2 in conference play.   Indiana set the tone in the top of the second inning when Ellie Goins hit a sacrifice fly to left field to score Jada Ellison and put Indiana up 1-0. A few at bats later and a few more Hoosiers on base, Aly VanBrandt walked with the bases loaded to make it a 2-0 game.   Alex Cooper broke the game open with a grand slam out to right center and the Hoosiers were up 6-0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A solo home run from Madalyn Strader in the third inning and a 2-RBI triple from Avery Parker in the fourth increased Indiana\u2019s lead to 9-0 through four frames.  Brooke Mannon\u2019s RBI single to shortstop in the top of the fifth gave Indiana another insurance run with a 10-0 lead in the top of the fifth.  Maryland would load the bases in the bottom of the fifth, threatening to disrupt the run rule, but the Terrapins could only plate two and Indiana took the game in five innings.  The Hoosiers have won all three of their Big Ten series thus far in 2026.   Indiana is now 6-3 on the road this season and has won 14 games by run rule.   Cooper\u2019s home run was her fifth of the season and her first grand slam of 2026. It also marked back-to-back games for her with a homer.  Strader has hit a home run in back-to-back games and has hit three in her last four games.   Indiana has won nine-straight games over Maryland, with the streak dating back to 2021.  Indiana will close out the series with Maryland this afternoon when the Hoosiers face Maryland at noon in Maryland Softball Stadium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Indiana University Baseball takes down Minnesota to Secure the Series <\/strong>Energy was at an all-time high as the Indiana Baseball team (10-12, 3-5 B1G) put the finishing touches on a series victory over Minnesota (15-8, 1-4 B1G) at Bart Kaufman Field. A five-run fifth inning \u2013 that featured three home runs \u2013 delivered a blow that the visitors couldn&#8217;t recover from. IU&#8217;s bullpen worked three scoreless frames to close out a 7-2 win on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in Bloomington.\u00a0Minnesota starter Isaac Morton recorded the first 12 outs of the game without giving up a hit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That quickly changed in the fifth inning as redshirt freshman designated hitter\u00a0Brayden Ricketts\u00a0led off the inning with a solo home run into the bullpen in left field. A solo blast from sophomore outfielder\u00a0Cole Decker\u00a0and a three-run shot from sophomore first baseman\u00a0Jake Hanley\u00a0\u2013 both to the same spot in left field \u2013 gave IU a lead it wouldn&#8217;t give up.\u00a0Extra insurance runs came in the sixth and seventh innings with RBI singles from freshman second baseman\u00a0Landen Fry\u00a0and sophomore outfielder\u00a0Caleb Koskie. The top eight hitters in IU&#8217;s order all recorded base knocks, led by a 2-3 day from Fry. Seven different players scored a run for the Hoosiers.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Graduate student southpaw\u00a0Tony Neubeck\u00a0(W, 2-2) turned in his second quality start of Big Ten play. He provided six innings of two-run baseball. He walked two guys but recorded eight strikeouts on just 87 pitches. Neubeck handed the ball over to the bullpen for three scoreless frames from junior right-handed pitchers\u00a0Jacob Vogel\u00a0and\u00a0Jackson Yarberry. IU&#8217;s relievers have given up just three runs in 16.1 innings of work this week.\u00a0Saturday&#8217;s victory kept pitch counts low and sets IU up for a chance to sweep the Gophers this afternoon at Bart Kaufman Field. IU is going for the 11th conference sweep in the head coach\u00a0Jeff Mercer\u00a0era (since 2019). First pitch has been moved up to 12:30 p.m. to accommodate travel considerations. It will stream on B1G+.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Taylor University Softball&#8217;s Offensive Outpour Secures Run-Rule Victory Over Grace<\/strong>                                                                                                                   Taylor used a 12-run fourth inning to dispatch Grace 12-2 in the opener before falling 13-9 for a CL split on Saturday afternoon at Gudakunst Field.  Delaynee McCreary led the offense throughout the day, driving nine runs, belting five hits and scoring four runs in a dynamic display. The senior outfielder belted a double and a home run in the twin-billing.  Clair Cullen (4-2) started inside the circle to begin the day and sent down the first seven batters before having to escape a bases-loaded jam in the third to keep the game scoreless. The sophomore righty allowed a run in both the fourth and fifth but ended the day with a complete game victory and five strikeouts in five frames.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Trojan offense was quiet before exploding for 12 runs in the fourth inning. Kaylee Larkin began the inning with a single and two batters later; Ava Everman ripped a double to left center to level the game at one. McCreary then picked up her first two RBI with a bases-loaded single.  After changing pitchers, Madisyn Standridge lined a two-RBI single to push the lead to 5-1 with nobody out. Taylor scored two more runs on plays the Lancers recorded outs. Four straight batters reached, before McCreary delivered the key hit with a bases-clearing double to put TU up by 10 and put the run-rule into effect. Standridge followed with an RBI double to cap the scoring in a historic inning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Trojans got on the board first in the second game, plating three in the second. McCreary continued her great day with an RBI single followed by a sacrifice fly by Standridge, before Lizzy Sinders roped double to center to push McCreary across the plate.  Grace answered with a three-run home run by Molly Jones in the third to tie the score at three apiece.  A two-out rally in the bottom of the inning restored Taylor\u2019s lead. Another bases-load hit by McCreary, her third of the day, drove in a pair before Standridge followed with a single through the left side for another run. The senior duo at the bottom of the order drove in 14 runs on Saturday, which nearly doubled the entire season output for the pair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The wheels fell of in the fourth inning as Grace scored 10 runs to take a commanding 13-6 lead. After a pair of freshman hurlers struggled, Claire Cullen came in and closed the inning after a three-run home run capped the scoring for the Lancers. Cullen quieted Grace (7-17. 1-9 CL) the rest of the way to give Taylor hope for a comeback that failed to materialize.  Two runs in the bottom of the fourth via two-out RBI hits by Grace Mullins and Everman breathed life into the game. Mullins walked four times on Saturday in addition to a pair of base knocks.  McCreary capped the day with a solo home run in the seventh, but TU was unable to rally after it in the defeat.  Taylor (11-11, 6-4 CL) continues it homestead with a matchup against Saint Francis (10-6, 6-2 CL) on Tuesday, March 24th, at Gudakunst field beginning at 3:00 pm. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Taylor University Women&#8217;s Tennis Falls to Bethel in the Crossroads League Opener<\/strong>                                                                                                          Taylor dropped a 7-0 decision to No. 23 Bethel in the Crossroads League opener for both teams Saturday afternoon at the Taylor Tennis Complex.  The Trojans (4-7, 0-1 CL) challenged in doubles against a Pilots (3-0, 1-0 CL) lineup that featured the 32nd-ranked tandem of Szilvi Ferenczy and Paola Lameda at the top flight. Maddy Fuqua and Anna Stone competed at No. 1 in a 6-2 loss, while Ellie Schaufelberger and Delaney Dahl fell 6-1 at No. 2. Evy Danemayer and Gracie Frazier rounded out doubles play at No. 3 in a 6-0 result as Bethel took the doubles point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fuqua provided Taylor&#8217;s strongest showing of the day at No. 1 singles, taking the opening set 6-3 from Olessya Krot before Krot rallied to claim the second and third sets 6-0, 6-2. Jillian Darby followed a similar path at No. 2 singles, winning her first set 6-4 against Lameda before falling 6-2, 6-0 in the final two sets. Schaufelberger fell 6-1, 6-1 to No. 75 Daniela Pineros at No. 3 singles, and Danemayer dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision to Sandy Sharaf at No. 4.  Stone and Dahl competed at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively, as the Trojans fell in straight sets across the lower flights. Taylor returns to action Tuesday when it hosts No. 17 Grace at 3:00 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Taylor University Men&#8217;s Tennis falls to RV Bethel in CL Opener<\/strong>                                                                                                                                                                         Taylor fell 7-0 to receiving-votes Bethel in the Crossroads League opener for both teams&#8217; Saturday afternoon at the Taylor Tennis Complex.  The Trojans (3-5, 0-1 CL) showed fight in doubles, where two of the three flights went down to the wire against a Pilots squad featuring nationally ranked players. Graham Beukelman and Tyler Lane battled the 46th-ranked tandem of Lukas Slivar and Dimitar Berdankov at No. 1 before falling 7-5.  Joseph Harper and Matthew Williams matched that effort at No. 2, also dropping a 7-5 decision to Santiago Flores and Aidyn Batyrbekov. Josh Clegg and Andrew Roth competed at No. 3 in a 6-0 loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lane delivered the most competitive match of the afternoon at No. 1 singles, taking the opening set 6-1 against No. 46 Berdankov. After dropping the second set 6-2, Lane forced a super tiebreaker and stayed within reach before falling 11-9 in the tightest individual contest of the day.  Harper went the distance at No. 2 singles, falling 6-4, 7-5 to No. 56 Batyrbekov in a match that stayed close throughout both sets. Beukelman dropped a 6-4, 6-3 result to Atanas Ivanov at No. 3.  Clegg, Williams and Roth each competed at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively, as the Trojans fell in straight sets across the lower flights.  Taylor returns to action Tuesday when it hosts No. 17 Grace at 3:00 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Taylor&#8217;s Shayne<\/strong> <strong>Lim Finishes Runner-Up at Lindsey Wilson Spring Invite<\/strong>                                                                                                                                   Shayne Lim finished one shot back of taking medalist honors as she paced No. 12 Taylor at the Lindsey Wilson Spring Invitational in TU\u2019s first outing of the spring season.  The Trojans took third-of-four teams in the standings with rounds of 319, 314 and 311 and a 54-hole final score of 944. Lim posted rounds of 71, 75 and 74 to end at 220 and just one stroke back of first. Following Lim\u2019s second-place finish were Hope Haarer in 13th, Eleanor Schuitema in 16th and Maya Kuszak in 19th.  Taylor will resume is schedule on April 13 and 14 at the Music City Classic in Nashville, Tennessee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Taylor Trojans Men&#8217;s Golf Take Third at LWU Spring Invitational<\/strong>                                                                                                                                                      Taylor turned in the three-best team rounds of the season on Friday and Saturday at the Lindsey Wilson Spring Invitational, shooting rounds of 284, 277 and 277 to finish the seven-team tournament in third place.  Taylor finished the event 26-under par with a three-round score of 864, ending just one stroke back of RV Campbellsville and 17 shots back of No. 11 Lindsey Wilson on the team leaderboard.  Taylor saw five athletes come in under par on the individual side as well, led by Aaron Fulda\u2019s 11-under par score of 205 to finish in third place. The freshman opened with a 72, before shooting rounds of 67 and 66 to climb the standings.  Will Schuitema posted scores of 71, 68 and 68 to end at nine-under par and in sixth place, with Tanner Conklin finishing in ninth at six-under par.  Two more Trojans finished under par and inside the top-25, with Ben Oakley taking 14th at three-under and Davis Formsma ending 21st at two-under.
