The win marked the Hoosiers’ fourth straight and improved the season record to 25-6 overall and 7-2 in the Big Ten. After a quick top of the first, Maryland struck first with a 2-run home run from Anna McGowan to put the Terrapins up 2-0 in the bottom of the inning. Indiana got on the board in the top of the fourth via a solo home run by Madalyn Strader to make it a 2-1 game. Back-to-back doubles from Avery Parker and Josie Bird scored three Hoosier runs in the top of the fifth to put Indiana ahead at 4-2. With two runners on base, Ella Troutt shut the door in the bottom of the fifth when she struck Logan Turner out looking to get out of the inning and protect the lead. The Hoosiers tacked on three insurance runs in the top of the seventh from a Bird home run over the left field wall to put the lead at a commanding, 7-2. Indiana’s defense forced a quick, 1-2-3 bottom of the seventh inning to secure the win.

Strader has hit a home run in three-straight games and has hit four in her last five games after only hitting one in her career prior to the current stretch. The Hoosiers have won all three of their Big Ten series thus far in 2026 and this was their first sweep. Indiana owns a 7-3 mark in road games this year. Both of Bird’s hits today were extra base hits as she recorded both a double and a home run. Indiana has won 10-straight games over Maryland and have swept the Terrapins in the last three series (2023, 2025, 2026). The win streak dates back to the 2021 season. Indiana will be back in action this evening when it faces No. 16 Oregon at 5 p.m. at Andy Mohr Field in Bloomington.

Indiana University Baseball Drops Series Finale to Minnesota With a chance to sweep its first series of the season, the Indiana Baseball team (10-13, 3-6 B1G) got hit early by a determined Minnesota offense. The visitors forced the Hoosiers into the bullpen in the second inning and never looked back.
