Dorn is the fifth member of the 2025-26 team to enter the portal this offseason, joining Aleksa Ristic, Jasai Miles, Josh Harris and Jason Drake.  Dorn averaged 8.1 points and 2.3 rebounds per game in his lone season in Bloomington. He shot 38% from three-point range.  After transferring in from the offseason, Dorn returned midseason from a foot injury and ended up starting 12 games.  Dorn looked like an emerging superstar midseason, with an electrifying seven-game stretch that saw him average 13.7 points while shooting 44.6% from three on eight attempts per game.\u00a0 But he went into a shooting slump from there and ended up losing his starting role. With the departure of Dorn, Indiana has eight openings on next season\u2019s roster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Indiana University Softball Shuts Out Butler in a Midweek Win\u00a0<\/strong>                                                                                                                                                       Indiana had an excellent showing at Andy Mohr Field on Wednesday night (April 8) as the Hoosiers worked their way to a 9-0 victory via run rule in six innings over Butler.  Avery Parker\u00a0finished the game off with a walk-off home run to center field that also tied the program&#8217;s career record of 45.  With the win, Indiana is now 28-10 on the season.  Hannah Haberstroh\u00a0got Indiana&#8217;s bats going in the bottom of the second inning when she hit a home run over the left center wall to put Indiana up 1-0. \u00a0In the next inning, Indiana tacked on four more runs to make it a 5-0 game.\u00a0Hannah Haberstroh\u00a0doubled to right center to score three Hoosiers before\u00a0Alli Gavin\u00a0hit an RBI single to left field to bring home Haberstroh.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From the fourth through sixth inning, Indiana&#8217;s pitching and defense only allowed one hit to help keep control of the game.  In the top of the sixth,\u00a0Taylor Hess\u00a0used a strikeout, a groundout and a flyout to keep the frame to a 1-2-3 inning.  \u00a0Indiana worked its way to a run rule in the bottom of the sixth.\u00a0Brooke Mannon\u00a0hit an RBI single up the middle to score\u00a0Peyton Drummond\u00a0and make it 6-0. \u00a0Following that,\u00a0Aly VanBrandt\u00a0singled to center field to have two runners on base.\u00a0Avery Parker\u00a0stepped up to the plate ahead of a crushing a ball over the center field wall for a walk-off home run and program record tying 45<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0career home run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Avery Parker&#8217;s\u00a0walk-off home run in the sixth inning tied the program&#8217;s career record of 45. Parker is now tied with Hoosier alum\u00a0Taylor Minnick\u00a0who previously set the program mark against Oklahoma State in the NCAA Regional in May 2025. \u00a0Indiana is now 15-3-1 all time against Butler and has won five in a row against the Bulldogs in the series.  \u00a0Aly VanBrandt\u00a0was 3-for-4 at the plate and recorded her seventh game of the season with 3-plus hits.<br>Haberstroh&#8217;s home run was the second of her career.  Indiana\u00a0and Purdue will face off in their annual rivalry matchup this weekend in a three-game series from Friday to Sunday at Andy Mohr Field. The Friday game will have a 6 p.m. first pitch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Indiana University Field Hockey&#8217;s Celia Arroyo Cabezudo Named Female Scholar Athlete of the Month for April\u00a0<\/strong>                                                                       Indiana Field Hockey\u00a0freshman\u00a0<dfn>Celia Arroyo Cabezudo<\/dfn>\u00a0has been named IU&#8217;s female Scholar-Athlete of the Month for April.\u00a0\u00a0The sophomore forward displayed excellence in the classroom and on the field to achieve this honor.\u00a0\u00a0Arroyo Cabezudo\u00a0showcased\u00a0outstanding work in her studies while balancing a\u00a0stellar first season of collegiate competition.\u00a0\u00a0The Spaniard appeared in all 18 games and notched eight goals in\u00a0her\u00a0freshman\u00a0campaign. Her stellar season earned her Big Ten Freshman of the Week, NFHCA National Academic Squad\u00a0honors and NFHCA Scholar of Distinction honors.\u00a0\u00a0Arroyo Cabezudo was an integral\u00a0part\u00a0of IU&#8217;s success last season and will be foundational as the team prepares for the 2026 campaign.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Indiana University Wrestling Notches Four NWCA Wrestling All-Americans\u00a0<\/strong>                                                                                                                                The National\u00a0Wrestling Coaches Association announced their list of the 2026 Scholar All-Americans\u00a0last week\u00a0and four Hoosier wrestlers earned the\u00a0prestigious\u00a0honor.\u00a0\u00a0 Jacob Moran,\u00a0Derek Gilcher,\u00a0Sam Goi<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/iuhoosiers.com\/sports\/wrestling\/roster\/sam-goin\/19507\">n<\/a><\/dfn>\u00a0and\u00a0Roman Rogotzke\u00a0were named Scholar All-Americans.\u00a0 These exceptional student-athletes have excelled both on the mat and in the classroom, meeting one of the following criteria:\u00a0Top\u00a08\u00a0and 3.00 GPA. National Qualifier and 3.2 GPA. Conference qualifier and 3.5 GPA.  15 matches with\u00a060%-win\u00a0record and 3.5 GPA.  All\u00a0four\u00a0Indiana honorees were starters in the team&#8217;s lineup this season.\u00a0\u00a0Three of the four honorees were NCAA Qualifiers,\u00a0and\u00a0Jacob Moran\u00a0was a 2026 All-American.\u00a0Moran took sixth place at 125 lbs.\u00a0\u00a0Jacob Moran\u00a0|\u00a0Portage,\u00a0Ind.|\u00a0Public\u00a0Health, Derek Gilche<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/iuhoosiers.com\/sports\/wrestling\/roster\/derek-gilcher\/19489\">r<\/a><\/dfn>\u00a0|\u00a0Novi, Mich.\u00a0|\u00a0Graduate Non-Degree. Sam Goin\u00a0|\u00a0Crown Point, Ind.\u00a0|\u00a0Exercise Science\u00a0and Roman Rogotzke\u00a0|\u00a0Stillwater, Minn.\u00a0|\u00a0Safety\u00a0Management Certificate\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sophie Cunningham Joins Broadcast Team for WNBA Games&nbsp;<\/strong>                                                                                                                                                       Sophie Cunningham&nbsp;announced&nbsp;that she is joining the broadcast team with USA Sports for WNBA games and will contribute to their studio coverage.  Cunningham played with the Indiana Fever last season. She is currently an unrestricted free agent. She is not retiring but joining the broadcast team in addition to her playing career.  Cunningham averaged 8.6 points and 3.5 rebounds per game in 30 games played with the Fever last season. She had spent the previous six seasons of her career with the Phoenix Mercury.  WNBA free agents can start signing contracts on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Purdue Commit Luke Ertel of Mount Vernon (Fortville) Named 2026 Indiana Mr. Basketball <\/strong>                                                                                                      Purdue University recruit Luke Ertel has received the award as Indiana\u2019s best high school boys&#8217; basketball of the 2025-26 season.  A 6-2 guard from Mt. Vernon High School in Fortville is the Indiana Mr. Basketball for 2026, organized and sponsored by the Indianapolis Star. Ertel was the top vote-getter in online voting of media and boys varsity coaches conducted by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association and All-Star game director Mike Broughton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The IndyStar announced the honor Thursday.  The Mr. Basketball result means Ertel will wear the No. 1 jersey for the Indiana All-Stars in their annual series with Kentucky, according to the Star\u2019s news release.  The Mr. Basketball award goes to the top boys basketball senior in the state. The Mr. Basketball and Miss Basketball awards are part of the IndyStar Indiana All-Star program that dates to 1939. The Miss Basketball award, along with the girls All-Stars, was added to the All-Star program in 1976. Gracyn Gilliard of Center Grove was announced as the 2026 IndyStar Indiana Miss Basketball on March 13. The complete 2026 Boys All-Star team will be announced later. The complete 2026 Girls All-Star team was announced March 18. The 2026 boys Junior All-Stars were announced April 1. The 2026 girls Junior All-Stars were announced March 9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ertel earned the boys top honor after being named on 207 ballots submitted to Broughton in voting that ran from March 19 to April 2. Dikembe Shaw of Crown Point was runner-up with six votes. Brady Scholl of Northridge was third with four votes, while Brennan Miller of Lawrence North and Noah Smith of Plainfield tied for fourth place with three votes each. Seven other players received one vote apiece. There were 230 votes cast overall.  A Purdue University signee, Ertel is the first Mr. Basketball winner from Mt. Vernon, the second Indiana All-Star in his family and the 12th Indiana All-Star from the Fortville-based school. He joins his brother, Michael, a 2017 MV graduate, as well as Brian Gilpin (1992), Daniel Turner (2010) and Amhad Jarrard (2022) as boys All-Stars. Past girls\u2019 All-Stars from MV were Liz Skinner (1978), Barb Skinner (1979), Johna Goff (2000), Jessica Brown (2012), Erica Moore (2014), Sydney Shelton (2016) and Ellery Minch (2024).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Luke Ertel averged 24.5 points, 9.9 rebounds, 6.6 assists and 1.8 steals as a senior in leading the Marauders to a 28-3 record and the Class 4A state championship. He also converted 47.9 percent of his field goals (256 of 534), 39.8 percent of his 3-pointers (98 of 246) and 88.6 percent of his free throws (148 of 167) as MV also won the Homestead Invitational, Hoosier Heritage Conference, Greenfield-Central Sectional, Southport Regional and New Castle Semistate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Former Indianapolis Colts Head Coach Frank Reich to Present Current Colts Running Back Jonathan Taylor with the Call to Courage Award&nbsp;<\/strong>                     Former Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich is set to present the 2026 Call to Courage Award to Colts running back Jonathan Taylor.  Reich presents the Call to Courage Award every year to an NFL player that has shown outstanding character, commitment, and leadership, both on and off the field.  The award will be presented at the 22nd Annual Call to Courage Awards Breakfast in Buffalo. The event is sponsored by the Buffalo Pro Ministry of Athletes in Action and is scheduled for Saturday, May 2.  Taylor is the second Colts player to win the award, joining former Colts center Jeff Saturday in 2012. Reich will host the event, which is his way of thanking Western New York for their support during his time with the Buffalo Bills. Reich played quarterback for the Bills for nine seasons.  Reich was the Colts head coach for five years. He had a 40-33-1 record in his time in Indianapolis.  Taylor has been with the Colts for all six seasons of his career.
