He delivered that and more, providing five scoreless innings enroute to an 8-6 win over Evansville on Wednesday evening at Bart Kaufman Field.\u00a0Linn (W, 3-0) struck out a season-high seven batters with an impressive four-pitch mix. He gave up just one hit and kept Evansville off the board to earn his third midweek victory of the year.  Graduate student right-handed pitchers\u00a0Reagan Rivera\u00a0and\u00a0Michael Sarhatt\u00a0got the game to the ninth before fellow veteran arm\u00a0Gavin Seebold\u00a0(SV, 2) slammed the door.\u00a0IU&#8217;s offense continues to slug the ball at a high level. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Three home runs, including an early two-run blast from sophomore\u00a0Caleb Koskie, helped put a big enough gap between the two sides. Sophomore first baseman\u00a0Jake Hanley\u00a0and redshirt freshman catcher\u00a0Brayden Ricketts\u00a0each went yard in the win. A pair of RBIs from sophomore shortstop\u00a0Cooper Malamazian\u00a0proved crucial down the stretch.\u00a0Head coach\u00a0Jeff Mercer\u00a0earned his 300th career victory with the Wednesday win in Bloomington. It is just his 10th season as collegiate skipper. 223 of those wins have come with the Hoosiers after 77 in his first two years leading Wright State.  IU will get a weekend off from Big Ten play as it welcomes Abilene Christian to town for a return series. The Hoosiers went to Texas last year in May and swept the Wildcats in a weekend set. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. this evening on B1G+.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Indiana University Men&#8217;s Basketball Officially Signs Freshman Trevor Manhertz for the 2026-27 Season <\/strong>                                                                                Four-star forward Trevor Manhertz has signed his letter of intent to continue his basketball career at Indiana University under head men&#8217;s basketball coach\u00a0Darian DeVries, the program announced on Wednesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trevor Manhertz Forward | 6-8 | 185 Cary, N.C. | Christ School No. 65 on 247Sports | No. 73 on Rivals                                                                                                     Posted 18.8 points, fourth most in the EYBL Scholastic League, as a senior at Christ School for head coach Erasto Hatchett \u2026 made a league-best 3.8 3-pointers per game and shot 42.0% from distant, the seventh-best mark among qualified shooters \u2026 shot 34-of-81 from behind the arc in nine EYBL Scholastic League\u00a0 games \u2026 shot 5-of-10 from 3-point range against Spire Academy (Dec. 14) \u2026 knocked down 8-of-12 attempts from 3-point range and scored 30 points against Iowa United (Jan. 19) \u2026 shot 5-of-11 from the arc against The St. James (Feb. 13) \u2026 made 6-of-13 from 3-point range and scored 34 points against La Lumiere (Feb. 14) \u2026 played for Garner Road on the Adidas 3SSB circuit and averaged 15 points on nearly 50% shooting from the 3-point line \u2026 scored 31 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the 3-point line at the 3SSB Earn Your Stripes Invitational \u2026 added a 38-point game in the circuit on 11-of-16 shooting \u2026 averaged 13.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 2.4 steals per games as a junior at Green Level High \u2026 All-Conference and All-District selection \u2026 advanced to the Elite Eight of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association 4A playoffs \u2026 son of Joe and Alexis Manhertz \u2026 father, Joe, played college basketball for Colgate and currently is the Senior Associate AD for Development at VCU \u2026 mother, Alexis, played volleyball collegiately for Georgia Southern and is currently works for Duke University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Indiana University Men&#8217;s Basketball lands Villanova Guard Bryce Lindsay <\/strong>                                                                                                                                    Indiana received a commitment from Villanova transfer guard Bryce Lindsay on Wednesday evening.  A 6-foot-3 and 194-pound shooting guard from Baltimore, Md., Lindsay averaged 12.3 points per game for the Wildcats in 2025-26.  Lindsay was listed by Villanova as a redshirt sophomore, so apparently, he has two years of eligibility remaining despite playing in three seasons already.\u00a0 Injuries ended his freshman season at Texas A&amp;M after just eight games, so a medical hardship waiver is the likely path.   He is a 3-point specialist, with 65% of his career attempts coming from long range.\u00a0 Over the last two years, Lindsay has made 38.2% from three on 6.8 attempts per game.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2025-26 for Villanova, Lindsay played in 33 games with 31 starts, averaging 28.6 minutes per contest.\u00a0 He scored 12.3 points per game and shot 38.3% from the field overall, including 35.6% from three on 219 attempts.\u00a0 He added 2.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.\u00a0 He shot 77.1% at the free throw line.\u00a0 He led the Wildcats with 25 points in a first round NCAA Tournament game against Utah State on March 20 in San Diego. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2024-25 with James Madison, Lindsay was named Sun Belt Freshman of the Year and the league\u2019s Sixth Man of the Year.\u00a0 He was also tabbed Third Team All-Sun Belt.\u00a0 He averaged 13.4 points per game, the fifth highest by a freshman in JMU program history.\u00a0 Lindsay shot 40.8% from three on 213 attempts.\u00a0 He also accrued 2.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 85.4 percent (41-of-48) from the free-throw line.  Lindsay spent one season at Texas A&amp;M before transferring to JMU.\u00a0 He appeared in eight games of the first 12 games for the Aggies as a true freshman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Indiana University Men&#8217;s Basketball Adds 6-11 Alabama Transfer Aiden Sherrell  <\/strong>                                                                                                                   Alabama transfer forward\/center Aiden Sherrell announced his commitment to Indiana basketball Wednesday.  The 6-foot-11 and 255-pound Sherrell averaged 11.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 2.2 blocks per game as a sophomore in 2025-26. He ranked No. 2 in the SEC in blocks and No. 13 in Division I. He recorded 76 blocks, which ranks No. 7 on Alabama\u2019s all-time single season list and led the SEC.   Sherrell\u2019s shooting splits were 53.8% overall, 33.3% from three (on 78 attempts), and 71.4% at the free throw line.  A product of Detroit, Mich., Sherrell has two years of eligibility remaining. He played prep school basketball for both Wasatch Academy and Prolific Prep.  Sherrell was one of the most coveted players in the transfer portal.\u00a0 He is ranked the No. 11 overall transfer this cycle by 247Sports, and No. 12 by On3\/Rivals.\u00a0 IU has the No. 2 and No. 1 overall portal class as of Wednesday afternoon at those outlets, respectively.  He is the fifth transfer portal addition for IU, joining Samet Yi\u011fito\u011flu (SMU), Markus Burton (Notre Dame), Jaeden Mustaf (Georgia Tech) and Darren Harris (Duke).  Indiana has four scholarship openings remaining on its 2026-27 roster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Butler University Men&#8217;s Basketball Head Coach Ronald Nored Promotes Ali Matta on his Staff <\/strong>                                                                                                          The Butler men\u2019s basketball program promoted Ali Matta, daughter of former Butler head coach Thad Matta, to director of basketball operations. Matta has spent the past three seasons serving as an administrative assistant on her father\u2019s staff. She now steps into her new role under first-year head coach Ronald Nored.  \u201cFew people can truly say that they grew up in college basketball, but Ali is one of them,\u201d Nored said in a press release. \u201cAli is a tremendous ambassador for our program and has built strong relationships within the athletics department and the university as a whole over the past few years. She and (Chief of Staff) Matt (Frederick) will make sure that all aspects of our program are a well-oiled machine. I know how much Butler means to Ali and her family, and I\u2019m grateful that she has chosen to stay involved with our program in this enhanced role.\u201d  Matta\u2019s role will include involvement in operations, travel, budget, recruiting, game day concepts, and other responsibilities surrounding the men\u2019s basketball program, the statement read. We\u2019re thrilled to welcome her to the Fever.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m excited to join the Fever. Playing for a contending team was a priority for me in free agency,\u201d Hines-Allen said. \u201cThe Fever check off all the boxes in what I was looking for, so I\u2019m eager to play with these elite women and to get the chance to have the best fans in the league cheering for me, as well.\u201d  Hines-Allen joins the Fever following a season with the Dallas Wings, where she averaged 7.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.9 assists across 40 games played. Prior to joining the Wings, Hines-Allen began her WNBA career in 2018 with the Washington Mystics, who drafted her No. 18 overall that year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Montclair, N.J., native featured for the Mystics through the 2024 season, winning the 2019 WNBA Championship and was named a 2020 All-WNBA Second Team honoree over that span. That latter season saw Hines-Allen post career highs in points (17.0), rebounds (8.9) and field goal percentage (51.0). The forward was traded to the Minnesota Lynx late in the 2024 season, helping the team reach the WNBA Finals, before signing with Dallas the following year. She has averaged 7.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per game across her eight WNBA campaigns, shooting 43.8 percent from the field in her career.  Hines-Allen has also seen overseas stints with Heilongjiang Dragons (China), Galatasaray (Turkey), Virtus Bologna (Italy), Lattes Montpellier (France) and BC Enisey (Russia).
