The win marked the Hoosiers&#8217; third in the last four games and improves the season record to 37-13 and 14-7 in conference play.  A single from\u00a0Aly VanBrandt\u00a0along with hit by pitches taken by\u00a0Avery Parker\u00a0and\u00a0Madalyn Strader\u00a0set up a bases loaded situation for\u00a0Ellie Goins. She proceeded to send the ball over the center field wall for a grand slam and 4-0 Hoosier lead in the top of the first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Michigan responded with a 2-run homer by Ella Stephenson in the bottom of the first to make it a 4-2 game.  In the top of the second,\u00a0Avery Parker\u00a0crushed one to right center for a 3-run home run in the top of the second to give Indiana a 7-2 advantage.  Ella Stephenson lined out to\u00a0Alex Cooper\u00a0who then dove to tag Indiana Langford for an unassisted double play in the bottom of the third.  With the bases loaded for Michigan in the bottom of the fourth,\u00a0Taylor Hess\u00a0threw a clutch strikeout to keep the score at 7-2 and end the inning. \u00a0Avery Parker\u00a0hit her second home run of the day to left center to put the lead at 8-2 in the top of the fifth.  Via an\u00a0Ellie Goins<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/iuhoosiers.com\/sports\/softball\/roster\/ellie-goins\/20901\">&#8216;<\/a><\/dfn>\u00a0single through the left side, a\u00a0Brooke Mannon\u00a0sac fly and a\u00a0Cassidy Kettleman\u00a0RBI double, Indiana built up the lead to 11-2 by the end of the top of the fifth.  \u00a0Taylor Hess\u00a0ended the game to secure the win in the bottom of the fifth with a strikeout of Jenissa Conway. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Parker&#8217;s home run in the top of the second was her 50<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0career bomb. She would later hit her second home run of the day in the top of the fifth for career homer No. 51.  Indiana&#8217;s 11 runs today pushed the season total to 409 which sets a new program record. Last year&#8217;s total of 403 was the previous high.   Indiana tied its program&#8217;s single-season RBI record of 374. It matches the team&#8217;s total from the 2023 season.   The Hoosiers have won six of their seven Big Ten series this season.  Hess pitched a complete game (5.0 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 3 SO) and got the win to improve her season record to 9-2.  Indiana will next play on Wednesday against Evansville and that game is slated for a 6 p.m. first pitch at Andy Mohr Field. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Indiana University Women&#8217;s Basketball Incoming Freshman GiGi Battle wins the MVP at the Ballislife Girls Basketball All-American Game at San Diego&#8217;s Sea World\u00a0<\/strong>                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         An exclusive list of the top girls\u2019 prep basketball talent throughout the country competed at the\u00a02026 Ballislife SeaWorld All-American Game\u00a0on Saturday, with Team Sharks (Blue) earning an 89-71 victory over Team Dolphins (White) at the Nautilus Amphitheater. Texas commit<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Aaliah Spaight\u00a0(Bishop Gorman, NV) took home the MVP for Team Sharks. The Las Vegas native tallied a game-high 19 points, making 7-of-13 attempts from the field overall and 2-of-4 from 3-point range. Spaight exhibited tight handles, crossing over multiple defenders while getting to her spots with ease.  In addition to the pair of 3-pointers she hit, Spaight also converted an impressive and-one that showed her effectiveness scoring both inside and out. Spaight finished the game +25 in her minutes, eight points higher than her next closest teammate.  \u201cI was able to do whatever my teammates trusted me to do,\u201d Spaight said. \u201cBeing able to do that put a lot of confidence in me, and winning this means a lot to me since it&#8217;s one of my last high school games. Being able to perform and win MVP was a great moment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Indiana commit\u00a0GiGi Battle\u00a0(DME Academy, FL) earned MVP honors for Team Dolphins, scoring 12 points in addition to grabbing six rebounds and dishing out two assists. Friday\u2019s 3-point contest winner and Duke commit<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Bella Flemings\u00a0(Brennan, TX) added 12 points of her own to match Battle for the team-high while also grabbing five rebounds herself. As her older brother Kingston did at Houston this past season, Flemings is a prime candidate to emerge as a game-changing freshman for Duke next season.  For Battle, winning MVP among this crop of talent was the highlight of a memorable weekend spent in one of the most iconic destinations in the United States.  \u201cIt means a lot,\u201d Battle said. \u201cI had a great time being here, being able to be in SeaWorld. I met so many new people, and it was a really great experience. I just focused on playing hard and being myself. It was so much fun getting to see a lot of familiar faces, but also some new faces too.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NC State commit\u00a0Kamora Pruitt\u00a0(Legion Prep, TX) also scored 12 points for Team Dolphins, making 5-of-10 attempts from the field overall and 2-of-5 from beyond the arc while finishing tied for the team-high in +\/- at +7.  In addition to Spaight\u2019s big-time performance, Team Sharks also received notable efforts from Kansas commit\u00a0Cydnee Bryant\u00a0(Centennial, CA) and Texas commit\u00a0Amalia Holguin\u00a0(Sage Hill, CA) as they each tallied 16 points in the winning effort. Bryant was especially dominant on the boards with 13 total rebounds, but that was still one board shy of the team-high, which was 14 set by Seton Hall commit<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Inieye Oruh\u00a0(Centennial, NV).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Iowa Sweeps Indiana University Baseball at Bart Kaufman Field\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>                                                                                                                                                                        A string of four unanswered runs was not enough for the Indiana Baseball team (19-25, 6-15) on Sunday (April 26) afternoon at Bart Kaufman Field. IU closed its deficit to three but couldn&#8217;t find a late hit with runners in scoring position. Iowa (26-16, 10-11 B1G) held on for a 7-4 win to complete the series sweep in Bloomington. It&#8217;s the second-straight year that Iowa has swept the Hoosiers.\u00a0Three errors in the first five innings allowed Iowa to take a 7-0 lead in the series finale. Junior right-handed pitcher\u00a0Jackson Yarberry\u00a0(L, 0-5) provided four solid innings in his first start of the year but gave up five runs (four earned) on seven hits. Graduate student right-handed pitcher\u00a0Gavin Seebold\u00a0kept IU in the fight with five fantastic innings out of the bullpen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both of the runs that Seebold allowed in the fifth inning were unearned.\u00a0IU had the bases loaded in the second and sixth inning but left much to be desired on each occasion. In the sixth inning, the Hoosiers had the bases juiced with the top of the order coming up. A pop out and groundout from sophomore outfielders\u00a0Hogan Denny\u00a0and\u00a0Cole Decker\u00a0left three stranded in a three-run game. IU went quietly in the ninth as Iowa closed out the weekend set.\u00a0The Hoosiers will head out of conference play for the final time this season in a midweek trip to Louisville this evening. Big Ten action resumes next weekend in Illinois against Northwestern. The first game of that series will take place at Wrigley Field on Friday evening.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Indiana University Women&#8217;s Golf Finishes Fourth at the Big Ten Championships <\/strong>\u00a0                                                                                                                            The Indiana Hoosiers finished fourth overall and shot an 872 (292-285-295; +32) at the 2026 Big Ten Women&#8217;s Golf Championships played at the Oakmont Country Club in Glendale, California over the weekend.\u00a0The fourth-place finish marked the highest team finish since winning the 2024 Big Ten Championship. No. 46-ranked Indiana finished ahead of top-30 teams Oregon (6), UCLA (14), and Northwestern (30).  Redshirt junior\u00a0Sheridan Clancy\u00a0contributed a 217 (73-70-74; +7) with six birdies. She made a pair of birdies in each round.   Redshirt senior\u00a0Maddie May\u00a0shot a 217 (72-71-74; +7) with five birdies. \u00a0 Junior\u00a0Katie Poots\u00a0played a 217 (72-70-75; +7) and made seven birdie tries.  Clancy, May, and Poots all tied for 16th-place in the individual standings.   Senior\u00a0Madison Dabagia\u00a0signed for a scorecard of 223 (76-74-73; +13). She played seven birdies, which included a team-best four in the final round.  Freshman\u00a0Saia Rampersaud\u00a0shot a 230 (75-81-74; +20) in her debut postseason event for the Hoosiers. She converted on seven birdie attempts. \u00a0 Sophomore\u00a0Cara Heisterkamp\u00a0traveled as the team substitute but was not inserted into the lineup. \u00a0The NCAA Women&#8217;s Golf regional reveal will take place at 4 p.m. ET on Wednesday, April 29. The selection show will air on the Golf Channel with qualifiers split into six regional sites: Ann Arbor, Mich.; Chapel Hill, N.C.; Simpsonville, Ky.; Stanford, Calif.; Tallahassee, Fla.; and Waco, Texas.  Regional play will run from May 11-13 with advancing teams and individuals heading to the tournament championship from May 22-27 at the Omni La Costa Resort &amp; Spa in Carlsbad, California. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ball State University to Host First NCAA Men&#8217;s Volleyball Regional Round Match Since 1992 <\/strong>                                                                                                               The Ball State men&#8217;s volleyball team prepares for its first trip to the National Collegiate Men&#8217;s Volleyball Championship since 2022, earning the No. 4 seed in the expanded 12-team field, announced during the NCAA Selection Show Sunday afternoon. The Cardinals will face the winner of May 1&#8217;s matchup between Pepperdine and Fort Valley State on May 2 at 6 p.m. on ESPN+.\u00a0 Due to Ball State University&#8217;s 2026 Commencement Ceremony, Saturday&#8217;s match will take place at the Noblesville Boom&#8217;s Riverview Health Arena at Innovation Mile.\u00a0Tickets go on sale Monday, April 27.\u00a0 The tournament begins May 1 with the regional round and continues through the national championship on May 11 at UCLA&#8217;s Pauley Pavillion in Los Angeles, Calif. Semifinal matches take place on Saturday, May 9 and will be streamed on ESPN+. The tournament finale will be streamed on ESPN2 on Monday, May 11.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Cardinals compiled a 13-3 conference mark in 2026 to claim the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Regular Season Championship, followed by a MIVA Tournament Championship after overcoming Northern Kentucky (April 18), McKendree (April 22) and Loyola Chicago (April 25). 2026 MIVA Coach of the Year\u00a0Mike Iandolo\u00a0guided Ball State to a dominant season in his first year in the position, securing an automatic bid to the program&#8217;s 17th NCAA Tournament appearance.\u00a0  On the national level, Ball State is ranked second in hitting percentage (.384) and are third in both assists per set (12.34) and kills per set (13.52). Individually, The Cardinals&#8217; attack is led by MIVA Player of the Year\u00a0Patrick Rogers\u00a0who sits at sixth in hitting (0.413) and kills per set (3.95). BSU&#8217;s blocking ranks eighth in the nation, averaging 2.41 per set.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Indy Ignite Clinch the Number 1 Overall Seed for the Major League Volleyball Playoffs  <\/strong>\u00a0                                                                                                        The\u00a0Indy Ignite\u00a0secured the top seed in the Major League Volleyball Championship on Sunday by virtue of a four-set victory over the Atlanta Vibe.\u00a0 Sweetening the deal, the Ignite also tied the MLV record for most wins in a single season with 21.\u00a0 &#8220;No win in this league is easy, unfortunately,&#8221; Ignite head coach Lauren Bertolacci said. &#8220;We knew we&#8217;d have to come and battle if we wanted to get that first spot today, which we did. I think that was just important for us. Every milestone that we can reach and every situation that we can be in is really important for us.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ignite started the match on a sluggish note but later rallied to score seven unanswered points thanks to middle blocker Lydia Martyn and opposite hitter Camryn Hannah and take the opening set 25-18.  Atlanta then took complete control of the second set, holding the lead the entire way en route to a 25-19 win to even the match. The third set was much closer, with Atlanta and Indy swapping the lead multiple times. Then, tied at 22, the Ignite rallied to score three unanswered points to take the set.\u00a0&#8220;We were down in that third set and we were able to turn it around and get that win,&#8221; Bertolacci said. &#8220;And then we came out a little stronger in that fourth set. We lost the lead but still won after 20.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Indy pulled out to a 20-15 lead in the fourth set before Atlanta rallied to tie it at 21, 22 and at 23. Martyn then scored her season-high 14th kill of the match to set up the set-winning kill by outside hitter Leketor Member-Meneh.  &#8220;I think our middles held us up for a chunk of the game, especially at the start,&#8221; Bertolacci said. &#8220;We were feeding them a lot, and they were scoring very well, all three of them. That was very important for us to create space for the pins, who later in the game came in a lot more and were able to really help us sort of solidify the win.&#8221;  The Ignite have just two games remaining in the regular season and both will stream live and free on WTHR+. Both games are at the Fishers Event Center with the Columbus Fury visiting Friday, May 1 at 7 p.m. and the San Diego Mojo capping the regular season off at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 3.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Indianapolis Indians Drop Home Series Finale to the St. Paul Saints <\/strong>                                                                                                                                                     The Indianapolis Indians dropped the series finale to St. Paul on Sunday afternoon, 3-1. Indy ended the six-game set with a 4-2 advantage for its first series victory of the season.  St. Paul (11-15) struck first for the second time in this six-game series, with Ryan Kreidler\u2019s two-run home run off Jos\u00e9 Urquidy (L, 0-1) in the top of the first inning marking the difference. Following the homer, Urquidy retired 10 of the next 12 batters, and struck out the side in order in the third inning.  In the top of the sixth inning, Gabby Gonzalez led off with a single for the Saints. Gonzalez advanced on a groundout, and Orlando Arcia brought him home with an RBI single to make it a 3-0 ball game. After Alika Williams hit a single off Zebby Matthews (W, 1-2) in the second inning for the Indians first hit, the team remained hitless until the seventh inning when Davis Wendzel singled. A solo home run by Enmanuel Valdez broke up a shutout bid in with one out in the ninth inning against Luis Garc\u00eda (S, 1).  The Indians had the day off Monday before starting a six-game series at the Memphis Redbirds, the Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals this evening at 7:45 PM ET.
