The final contest of the preseason gave the Fever their closest look at a fully healthy rotation. Indiana’s final tune-up ahead of the beginning of the regular season was an encouraging showing from the Fever. Scrappy defense and clean transition offense allowed Indiana to record 70 points by halftime as they led by 41 points at the break. Indiana amassed 100 points by the four-minute mark of the fourth quarter, and defeated Nigeria, 105-57.

Aliyah Boston played her first preseason minutes on Saturday and excelled as Indiana’s offensive hub in the post. Indiana added a new wrinkle to its offense as both Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell set screens for Boston as the ball handler. One instance of the action resulted in a wide-open drive to the rim for Boston. “AB’s game has expanded,” White said. “She played point forward for us last year, and when you have two playmakers that are screeners, it makes defenses make a choice. “I think that we’ve got to be creative in ways that we can get one another shots and create space. She shot 2-for-3 from long range, and dished out four assists. Mitchell’s 17 points led the Fever in scoring, and she knocked down all three of her 3-point attempts in her 14 minutes. Raven Johnson had another stellar preseason showing – she snuck a crafty pass through two defenders to Mitchell for two points in the first half, and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds over the course of the game. She scored another nine points on Saturday, bringing her preseason scoring average to six points per game. Three Fever players had scored in double figures by halftime – Clark, Mitchell, and Makayla Timpson. Timpson was a strong presence down low as she blocked two shots, grabbed five rebounds, and scored 12 points.

Of Indiana’s regular rotation players, only Lexie Hull remained sidelined with an injury on Saturday. A lingering hamstring issue kept her out of all three preseason contests. “She seems to be doing really well,” White said of Hull on Saturday. “…With some of those nagging things, if it’s not necessary then we’ll take our time.
