Tyler Trent Foundation has raised $4 million since its founding to support pediatric cancer research. The choice of venue holds personal significance. Tyler was an avid Indianapolis 500 fan who attended the race annually. After his terminal diagnosis in 2018, he and his family rode in a truck lap before the race and watched from the top of the Pagoda, a perch typically reserved for photographers and security personnel. “Hosting this year’s outing at Brickyard is truly magical for us,” said Tony Trent, Tyler’s father. “Tyler was an avid race fan, and holding our annual golf outing in his honor at this place that was so special to him is truly incredible.

The Indy 500 brings people together from so many different places, and Tyler had that same effect — uniting people under a common purpose to support cancer research.” Now in its sixth year, the outing continues to draw strong community support. Kelly Trent, Tyler’s mother, said the turnout remains deeply meaningful to the family. “It’s so meaningful to see the community show up year after year to honor Tyler’s memory and continue the fight against pediatric cancer,” she said. “Six years later, we still feel the love and support from those around us. This outing is about hope, healing, and the belief that together we can help fund the research that will save other children.”

Tickets remain available online. A silent auction will feature VIP sports experiences, autographed memorabilia, and other items. A returning “heckle hole” will bring sports personalities to the course for lighthearted interaction with golfers. The foundation recently awarded $100,000 to research at Florida International University led by Dr. Diana Azam, whose team is developing a method that tests existing drugs on patient tumor cells to identify more effective, personalized treatments for children and adults. Dr. Azam is expected to attend the June 9 outing to provide updates on her team’s work and the foundation’s ongoing impact.

Tony Trent said continued investment in pediatric cancer research remains critical, noting that about 50 children are diagnosed with cancer each day in the United States. He added that some of the treatments Tyler received were based on technologies developed in the 1940s and 1960s. Tony Trent encouraged supporters to join the Captain’s Club, which asks for $7 monthly donations in exchange for updates, event invitations, and community recognition. Partners for this year’s event include Purdue University, Riley Hospital for Children, Florida International University, OS Therapies, Jim Foot (former owner of First Ascent Biomedical), Amy Hascamp (palliative care nurse), and Purdue football coach Barry Odom. Dale, Cooper and Pacer are the second, third and fourth NAIA All-Americans in the seven-year history of the Taylor men’s lacrosse program. The trio joins Aidan Craig (2024) as the only players in program history to garner the prestigious honor and marks the first time that TU has collected multiple All-American awards in the same season.

Dale led the NAIA with 66 assists, finishing just five off a new program record. The junior did set a new TU record with 111 points, ranking No. 2 in the NAIA and also added 45 goals to rank No. 21 in the NAIA. Those stats were all new career-highs for the two-time All-WHAC standout and pushed Dale to No. 1 in program history with 104 career goals, No. 2 with 201 points and No. 2 with 97 assists in his three seasons in Upland. Cooper finished his second season with the Purple and Gray atop the NAIA with 221 shots, No. 3 with 120 shots on goal, No. 8 with 61 goals and No. 14 with 76 points. The sophomore set new TU records in shots, shots on goal and goals for a single season en route to earning his second All-WHAC nod in as many years. Those numbers helped Cooper climb to No. 2 in Taylor history with 101 goals and No. 4 with 126 points at the halfway point of his collegiate career.

Pacer led the NAIA with 58 caused turnovers and ranked No. 4 in the nation with 131 ground balls during his final collegiate campaign. The two-time All-WHAC standout finished his time with the Trojans as the program’s all-time record holder with 295 ground balls and 114 caused turnovers.
