The conference office unveiled the full postseason honors as the Big Ten Tournament begins this week at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska. Sophomore outfielder Hogan Denny, who was a true utility man for the Hoosiers, became the ninth First Team All-Big Ten selection under head coach Jeff Mercer. The Mooresville, Indiana native hit .357 across 51 starts with 18 doubles, 14 home runs and 44 RBIs. He finished in a tie for second in the conference in runs scored (63) during the regular season. He started games at five different positions and batted in each of the top four spots in the order. Since 2019, Denny is the fourth different IU outfielder to earn first team honors. He joins Grant Richardson (2019), Devin Taylor (2023-25) and Korbyn Dickerson (2025) as impact outfielders for the Hoosiers. Denny started 33 games in the outfield, most commonly as the team’s right fielder. He finished top 10 in the conference in batting average, runs scored and doubles.

Sophomore first baseman Jake Hanley made his second-straight appearance on the All-Big Ten Second Team as an at-large selection. The Ohio native was the only IU player to start all 54 games for the Hoosiers and finished with the team lead in RBIs (48) and walks (43). He hit .338 in his sophomore campaign with 71 hits, 56 runs scored and 14 home runs. Hanley is the first IU player since at least 2005 to start every game of his freshman and sophomore seasons. He continued his strong defense with a .992 fielding percentage in over 380 chances. Hanley has produced back-to-back seasons of at least 70 hits and 14 home runs. He received enough votes to make the second team as an at-large pick.

Graduate student left-handed pitcher Tony Neubeck produced one of the best seasons as a Friday starter in recent memory for the IU program. He pitched in every series and finished the year with a 7-4 record and an ERA of 3.95. One of his best attributes was the command of multiple pitches. He recorded 75 strikeouts and walked just 27 batters on the whole season. Neubeck was named a Big Ten Third Team starting pitcher after finishing tied for fifth in the conference in wins (7). He finished fifth in the conference in ERA among pitchers that started all 14 weekends of the season. It’s the fourth-straight season that IU has had an All-Big Ten starting pitcher. Neubeck was also the team’s Big Ten Sportsmanship award honoree.

2026 Big Ten Postseason Awards – Indiana
First Team: Hogan Denny (OF)
Second Team: Jake Hanley (At-Large)
Third Team: Tony Neubeck (SP)
Sportsmanship Award: Tony Neubeck (SP)

Jessie Mauro Signs with Indiana University Field Hockey Indiana Field Hockey coach Kayla Bashore announced the signing of Jessie Mauro on Tuesday morning. Crook, a transfer from Virginia Tech, comes to Indiana after four years with the Hokies. At Virginia Tech, Crook competed at 141 lbs. throughout his entire career and was in the lineup for three seasons. He redshirted in the 2024-25 season. Crook has one year of eligibility remaining. Crook is a three-time NCAA Qualifier, qualifying in each of his three seasons in the lineup. In his true freshman season in 2023, Crook was the No. 15 Seed at 141 lbs. at NCAAs and went 1-2. In 2024, he earned the No. 20 seed at his weight and had a 2-2 showing at nationals. Crook was the No. 25 seed in 2026, qualifying for the third time and being at 141 lbs. for each season. Crook is also a three-time placer at the ACC Championships, finishing in the following places: fourth (2023) fourth (2024), and fifth (2026). He is a native of Tampa, Fla. and was a four-time Florida state champion, going 144-0 for Tampa Jesuit.

Purdue Knocked off By Michigan State in the First Game of the Big Ten Baseball Tournament Michigan State baseball quickly built a big lead and never let it go. The 12th-seeded Spartans had just barely earned the last spot in this year’s Big Ten Tournament on tiebreakers. Despite barely making it into the conference’s postseason, MSU crushed 5-seed Purdue (a team on the NCAA Tournament bubble) in the early innings, 8-4, on Tuesday morning. It was an early start time in Omaha, with the first pitch being delivered not long after 9 a.m. CT. MSU’s bats were already awake, though, as the Spartans plated four in the first and three in the second to quickly jump out to a 7-0 lead.

A couple of Purdue miscues helped let that big first inning be. The Boilermakers flubbed a relatively routine double-play ball that was probably the difference between first and third with nobody out, and then nobody on and two outs. There was a close play at first base the next batter that went Michigan State’s way — replay showed it to be an out, but Purdue didn’t challenge. Randy Seymour also delivered three RBIs during those first two innings. He picked up two on one single in the first, and then another with a double in the second. Khamaree Thomas also had multiple early RBIs with that previously mentioned bunt single in the first, and then a sacrifice fly in the second.

After not scoring in the third, slugger Parker Picot made it 8-0 with a solo home run to left field. That was the 14th home run of his junior season, which has included an OPS north of 1.000. Sophomore starting pitcher Aidan Donovan was also stellar. He didn’t allow his first hit of the ball game until there was one out in the sixth and had faced the minimum up to that point. Donovan kept eating inning after inning. He finally relented a bit in the eighth and allowed two Purdue runs across and was taken out after 7.2 innings pitched and 104 pitches. Purdue scored another two runs in the ninth and got the tying run on deck, but the huge lead the Spartans had built up early in the game never led to any real worry seeping through. This victory over the Boilermakers puts MSU one victory away from reaching the conference quarterfinals. The first phase of this year’s Big Ten Tournament is a double-elimination format, which means the Spartans will have two chances to move on.

Caitlin Clark to be the Grand Marshal for the Indianapolis 500 Indiana Fever star guard Caitlin Clark will serve as grand marshal of the 110th Indianapolis 500 on Sunday.
