Indiana University Women’s Golfer Sheridan Clancy Tied for 13th after the First Round of the NCAA Championships <\/strong> Indiana University Women’s Golfer Sheridan Clancy shot a 2 under par 70 on Friday in the First Round at the NCAA Championships in Carlsbad California. Clancy is tied with 10 others for 13th place and just two strokes back of the leaders which shot a 4 under 68 on Friday. 10 golfers are tied for third place after they shot a 3 under 69. Clancy will tee off her second round at 5:02 PM Bloomington Time which is 2:02 Local Time in Carlsbad. Clancy\u00a0is the first Hoosier to qualify for the NCAA Women’s Golf Championships as an individual since 2018 (Erin Harper) and looks to become the 8th golfer in IU History to Finish in the top 20 at the NCAA Championships. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana University Volleyball Starts their Two-Week Foreign Tour Today <\/strong>\u00a0 The Indiana volleyball program is set to embark on a near two-week foreign tour this afternoon. The Hoosiers will fly from O’Hare airport in Chicago en route to the first stop of the tour in Istanbul. The three countries on the tour (T\u00fcrkiye, Spain and Portugal) will immerse IU’s student athletes in the history, sport and culture of the area. Head coach\u00a0Steve Aird’s group is set to play at least six matches along the way, beginning with three in Istanbul. T\u00fcrkiye is known for having some of the best women’s volleyball in the world and is coming off a silver medal in last summer’s FIVB Women’s World Championships. The highlighted match in Istanbul will come against a junior team of Fenerbah\u00e7e, one of the best clubs in the world. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After four days in Istanbul, IU’s team will fly to Madrid for a series of days in the nation’s capital. The Hoosiers will get to see the hometown of former outside hitter\u00a0Candela Alonso-Corcelles\u00a0who will meet the team there. A match against the Spanish Junior National Team in Soria, Spain will close out the month of May. IU will wrap up the trip in Lisbon with a chance to play more volleyball and go sightseeing. Incoming freshman defensive specialist\u00a0Ellie Hepler\u00a0will join the rest of the current roster to play on the trip abroad. Graduating seniors\u00a0Madi Sell,\u00a0Jessica Smith\u00a0and\u00a0Avry Tatum\u00a0will get the chance to travel with the program on the foreign tour. IU is set to return to the states on June 4th after stops in three countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana Hoosiers Qualify 19 for NCAA Track and Field East Regional<\/strong> Indiana University track and field earned 19 qualifiers (12 men \/ 7 women) for 2026 NCAA East Regional hosted by the University of Kentucky. The meet will take place from Wednesday, May 27, to Saturday, May 30, and will alternate days between the men’s and women’s events. Days one and three will feature men’s events while days two and four will feature the women’s events. Senior Trelee Banks Rose will be the lone Hoosier to compete in two events, qualifying for the men’s 100 and 200-meter sprints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana University’s Luke Ryan Promoted to Swimming Associate Head Coach<\/strong> Indiana swimming head coach\u00a0Ray Looze\u00a0has promoted\u00a0Luke Ryan\u00a0to associate head coach ahead of Ryan’s seventh season with the program. In addition, Ryan retains his director of recruiting title. Ryan has stood at the forefront of Indiana’s distance success, most recently highlighted by Big Ten medal sweeps in both the 500-yard freestyle and the 1,650-yard freestyle, as well as Zal\u00e1n S\u00e1rk\u00e1ny’s NCAA record in the 1,000-yard freestyle and 2025 NCAA title in the 1,650 free. Ryan also guided\u00a0Josh Bey\u00a0as he dropped 7.71 seconds in the 400-yard IM during his freshman season. The Big Ten Swimmer of the Year and Freshman of the Year, Bey won the conference gold and set the Big Ten record with a 3:34.90, ranking him No. 8 all-time as well as the second-fastest freshman ever.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since Ryan joined Looze’s staff, Indiana has won six Big Ten titles, including five consecutive on the men’s side. The Hoosier men have earned five consecutive top five finishes at the NCAA Championships, and the women’s program earned its best-ever national performance in 2025, placing fourth. The Hoosier coaching staff has produced double-digit Olympic swimmers in consecutive cycles. Eleven swimmers with ties to the program participated at the Paris Games, including five members of the U.S. Olympic Team as well as athletes representing Egypt, Germany, Israel, the Netherlands and, for the first time in school history, Singapore and Lithuania. Ryan served as an assistant coach for the Tunisian national team at the Fukuoka 2023 World Aquatics Championships and currently serves a similar for the Czechia’s national team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana Fever Wrap up their Three Game Homestand with a Win over the Golden State Valkyries <\/strong> The Indiana Fever beat the Golden State Valkyries, 90-82, to win their third straight game to close out their homestand. Caitlin Clark returned after missing Wednesday\u2019s game due to a back injury. Clark had a team-high 22 points (7-15 FG and 4-9 3FG) and 9 assists. Aliyah Boston had a big night, putting up 20 points (8-15 FG) and 16 rebounds, which tied a regular season career high. Kelsey Mitchell added 19 points (4-10 FG) and three assists. Sophie Cunningham (11 points) also scored in double figures. As a team, the Fever shot 46% from the floor, 38% from three, and 76% from the free throw line. The Fever (4-2) are back in action on Thursday when they face the Valkyries again, this time on the road. Tipoff is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The New York Dog Wins the 2nd Annual Weine 500 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway <\/strong>\u00a0 Carb Day fans said on Friday they were eager for a repeat of last year\u2019s Wienie 500. In what is fast becoming the highlight of Carb Day, Oscar Mayer\u2019s entire fleet of six Wienermobiles battled it out in a two-lap sprint race around the 2.5-mile oval. The fleet included last year\u2019s winner, Slaw Dog, along with newcomer Corn Dog. Corn Dog was a heavy audience favorite. One fan, Giannia Dalcorobbo, said she was cheering for Corn Dog because her elementary school would serve corn dogs on Fridays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s race was a dog-eat-dog contest right out of the gate. Chi Dog moved swiftly to block Slaw Dog off the line. Then, in a particularly spicy move coming out of turn 2, Chi Dog forced Seattle Dog down into the pit lane. In the end, though, the dog from the Big Apple proved to be the biggest dog in this fight as New York Dog, helmed by \u201cCook \u2018Em Cam\u201d and \u201cJack & Cheese,\u201d held off Chili Dog at the finish line by less than a bun length. Izaak Landraff and Josh Hunt brought their sons, Declan and Logan to the Wienie 500 this year after enjoying last year\u2019s inaugural running. \u201cI loved seeing the Wienies go by,\u201d Logan Hunt said. \u201cThey weren\u2019t as fast as I thought they would be, but they\u2019re still really cool\u201d Izaak said he\u2019s already planning on coming back. \u201cMade the first one, made the second one, we\u2019re making the third one,\u201d he said, adding, \u201cGo Chi Dog! Next year, it\u2019s all yours!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

William Carey Takes Down #1 Taylor in the Opening Round of the NAIA Baseball World Series <\/strong> No. 10 William Carey (Miss.) used a three-run ninth inning to pull away from No. 1 Taylor (Ind.) for a 7-4 victory on Friday at Harris Field, overcoming a sixth-inning comeback by the Trojans in a tightly contested first-round matchup. The Trojans struck first in the opening inning when Brayden Manning lined an RBI single to right field, scoring Fletcher Roemmich for an early 1-0 lead. The Crusaders answered quickly in the bottom of the second, driving in three runs to take control. Gage Hinnant drove in the equalizer with a single before Alan McClean doubled to left-center to put the Crusaders in front. DeeJay Booth later added an RBI groundout to cap the three-run frame and give William Carey a 3-1 advantage. The Crusaders extended the lead in the fifth when Booth launched a solo home run to center field, pushing the margin to 4-1. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taylor rallied in the sixth inning to erase the deficit. Rylee Singleton delivered an RBI single before a wild pitch brought home another run. Luke Sutter later tied the game at 4-4 with an RBI single to center, shifting momentum back toward the Trojans. After the sixth-inning surge, both teams battled through several scoreless frames as pitching and defense tightened late. William Carey reliever Jimmie Johnson proved critical during that stretch, holding Taylor to just one hit across 3.2 scoreless innings while striking out three. The game remained tied until the bottom of the ninth, when William Carey’s Taylor Walters delivered the go-ahead RBI single through the right side to break the deadlock before Jayden Mark followed with a two-run double to center, extending the lead to 7-4 and sealing the win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Crusaders finished with seven runs on seven hits and drew seven walks. Booth led the offense with two RBIs, including the solo homer, while Hinnant added two hits and an RBI. Walters reached base four times and provided the decisive hit in the ninth. Taylor also collected seven hits and seven walks, while Sutter paced the Trojans with two hits and an RBI in the comeback effort. Johnson earned the win in relief for William Carey, improving to 7-2 on the season. Taylor\u2019s Jake Boyer was charged with the loss after the Crusaders broke through in the final inning. Taylor will face No. 4 Doane (Neb.) today at 3 p.m. in an elimination game.
