Clark’s 3-pointer with 3:55 to play pulled Indiana to 81-80 and Aliyah Boston put the Fever ahead with a jumper the next time down. But Clark turned the ball over with 1:32 left and her team trailing by three then again with 1:06 to go before missing a 3 with 40 seconds remaining.

Indiana had another chance with 24.8 seconds left and Sophie Cunningham scored on an uncontested layup. Williams missed the first of two free throws on the other end. Boston missed a turnaround jumper as the final buzzer sounded — sending the celebratory sellout home crowd into a frenzy. Clark finished with 16 points, six assists and four rebounds but struggled to find a shooting groove — she was 3 for 12 — at Chase Center again as Indiana had its three-game winning streak snapped. The Fever missed their initial eight 3-point attempts and were 3 of 12 at halftime.

Janelle Salaun came off the bench to contribute 19 points and seven rebounds for Golden State (5-2), which had 11 blocks in all — four by Kiah Stokes. This was another physical game after a testy matchup won 90-82 by the Fever last Friday at Indiana that became heated between Clark and Tiffany Hayes when Clark signaled her hand at the Golden State guard and they exchanged words. Clark said before the rematch that she had moved on already. The fans at Chase Center took every opportunity to show their displeasure with Clark, booing the star guard every time she touched the ball. Clark, who attended the San Francisco Giants’ game Wednesday at nearby Oracle Park, was averaging 23.8 points per game. Her last game on the Valkyries’ home floor was forgettable. Clark shot just 3 for 14 at Chase Center in an 88-77 loss last June — going 0 for 7 on 3s and missing her initial six shots before a layup at the 4:12 mark of the second quarter. The Fever remain on the Road tonight at 8 PM against the Portland Fire.

Trine University Softball Wins First Game in Salem, Virginia at the NCAA Division III World Series The Trine University softball team opened their trip to the final site of the 2026 NCAA Division III Softball Championship with a victory over Belhaven University. The final score of the contest was 7-5. After making quick work of the Blazers in the top of the first, the Thunder wasted no time putting themselves on the board. Whitney Duell, Karley Trine and Tyra Marcum led off the game with three extra-base hits, with the former two scoring for the 2-0 lead. Later in the inning Abbie Geib had an RBI hit that made the score 3-0. Belhaven answered with a run of their own in the second, but the reduced lead was short lived. Debbie Hill followed up a Marcum walk in the bottom half of the inning with a homer to right center field pulling the Thunder ahead 5-1.

Blazers plated two more in the third and held Trine scoreless for the first frame of the contest, taking it to the fourth inning 5-3. The next run came in the bottom of the fourth when Jo Trine came up with a two-out single before advancing to second on an error. Marcum followed up with a single of her own, with Trine beating the throw home for the 6-3 lead. The team added another insurance run in the fifth. Clare Feehan pinch hit to start the inning and came up with a double in the left corner of the outfield. She advanced to third on a groundout before scoring on a miscue by the pitcher. The Blazers made one last attempt at a rally, scoring a pair of runs in the top of the seventh to cut the score to 7-5. Hill buckled down over the final outs and finished off the game with the win. Hill picked up her 13th win of the season after entering in relief during the third inning. She finished the game allowing four runs, none earned, on seven hits and two walks. She struck out nine along the way. Trine improves to 39-6 overall following the victory.

Taylor Trojans Win Fourth Straight at NAIA Baseball World Series and Advance to Tonight’s National Championship Game Six days after dropping its World Series opener to William Carey by a 7-4 margin, top-seeded Taylor (56-6) handed the Crusaders the exact same scoreline in return. The Trojans buried William Carey (41-19) under a five-run first inning and never trailed, riding the early cushion and a poised effort from freshman starter JT Tabor to a 7-4 win in the Avista NAIA World Series semifinal. The victory was Taylor’s fourth straight in Lewiston and pushed the Trojans into Tonight’s national championship game as the top remaining seed in a field down to three. After a delayed start due to weather and first pitch at 8:20 p.m. PDT, Taylor sent nine batters to the plate in the bottom of the first and pushed across five runs to take early control of the contest.

With two outs and two on, Brennan Frickel singled through the left side to score Brayden Manning and break the seal. Sam Gladd kept the line moving, and Fletcher Roemmich emptied the bases with a three-run double to left-center that made it 4-0. Nate Simpson followed with a run-scoring single up the middle to cap the rally and chase William Carey starter Josh MacCord, who recorded just two outs. The damage was spread across a balanced lineup. Roemmich drove in a game-high three runs on his first-inning double. Luke Sutter went 2-for-5 with a home run and a stolen base, while Brayden Manning matched him with two hits, a home run and two runs scored. Manning extended his hitting streak to 21 games and on-base streak to 40. Gladd added two hits including a double, and Frickel and Simpson each delivered a run-scoring single in the decisive first. The Trojans finished with 10 hits, four of them going for extra bases.

From there, the Trojans leaned on Tabor. The freshman right-hander met the moment that comes with a semifinal start on the NAIA’s biggest stage, working in and out of trouble without letting the Crusaders climb back into the game. He allowed three hits across four-and-two-thirds innings, struck out five and surrendered just one earned run, repeatedly answering William Carey’s attempts to chip away at the lead. Each time the Crusaders threatened, Tabor found the pitch he needed. The Taylor lineup gave him room to breathe in the form of two solo home runs. Luke Sutter went deep to right field in the second to make it 6-1, and Manning launched a shot to center in the fourth that stretched the margin to 7-1. It was Manning’s career-high 14th blast of the season and first of the World Series.

William Carey, to its credit, never went quietly. The Crusaders answered the five-run first with a run in the second on a Gage Hinnant RBI single, then kept scratching. Franklin Hernandez singled in a run in the fifth, Hinnant doubled one in during the sixth and Jayden Mark doubled in the game’s final run in the ninth. Hinnant drove in two and Hernandez collected three hits, but William Carey could never string enough together to erase the early hole. Reliever Adam May gave the Crusaders a chance, holding Taylor to one run over the final 6.1 innings.

The Taylor bullpen closed the door behind Tabor. Nick Crabtree picked up the win with a scoreless inning of relief, improving to 2-0, and Nathan Frady worked the final 2.2 innings for his second save of the series, allowing a single run while protecting the three-run lead with a pair of double plays. The Trojans needed all of it against a William Carey team that had already shown multiple dramatic comebacks in the NAIA Opening Round and World Series. The result tightens an already dramatic World Series picture. Taylor advances directly to Tonight’s championship as the top remaining seed with first pitch slated for 6:30 p.m. PDT (9:30 p.m. EDT). William Carey, now facing elimination met Tennessee Wesleyan on Friday, with the winner earning the right to challenge the Trojans for the title.

Indiana University’s Veronica Hargrave Advances to Today’s Quarterfinals in Lexington The Indiana University track and field team closed the second day from the NCAA East Regional Meet on Thursday closing the final day of first round events.
