Pangonis will be a freshman for the Hoosiers while Anderson will have two years of eligibility remaining. A native of Burlington, Ontario, Canada, Pangonis is a 5-foot-11 guard from Fort Erie International Academy where she averaged 9.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.5 assist and 2.0 steals per game. She joins a highly-ranked incoming class that will suit up for the Hoosiers next season.

Anderson played at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario, Canada, where the 6-foot-3 forward started all 32 games of her career, averaging 13.1 points per game in two seasons. The Latchford, Ontario, Canada native also shot 49.8 percent from the floor. Last season Anderson averaged 15.1 points and 13.9 rebounds per game to lead the Falcons to an 11-5 overall finish. Previously, Addy Nyemchek, GiGi Battle, Ashlinn James and Zoe Jackson comprised the nation’s eight-best recruiting class for 2026. In addition, the program signed four transfers in the offseason and will feature key returners in redshirt junior guard Lenée Beaumont and junior forward Zania Socka-Nguemen.

Edgewood’s Jayden Stephens named top softball catcher in Indiana Edgewood’s sectional champion softball squad piled up a lot of wins, and the pile is getting higher in the post-season awards category. The most recent was senior Jayden Stephens being named the top softball catcher in the state as Indiana’s Johnny Bench Award winner. Awards are given to the top NCAA Division I male and female college catchers, along with the top high school baseball and softball catchers from Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, and West Virginia. The winners will be honored at a luncheon on July 7 at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati and will also be recognized that night on the field before the Reds play the Phillies. The Johnny Bench Award was established in 2000 by the Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission and honors Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame catcher Johnny Bench. In 2019, the award was expanded and permanently relocated to the Reds Hall of Fame & Museum at Great American Ball Park. The Reds scouting department contributes input on the baseball evaluation criteria, while the awards committee selects each winner with support from local media in every state.

Indiana Fever Extend their Winning Streak to Four Games with a 113-91 Victory over the Toronto Tempo The Indiana Fever might have played its most complete game of the season on Tuesday night. Inside Gainbridge Fieldhouse, the Fever took down the Toronto Tempo, 113-91, and are now riding the longest winning streak of the season. Indiana picked up its fourth straight win on Tuesday, thanks in large part to Sophie Cunningham and Kelsey Mitchell’s red-hot shooting performances. The two combined for 51 points and shot a combined 77 percent from the field. Cunningham finished Tuesday’s game with 24 points while shooting 6-7 from three. Cunningham finished with a season high in points and made threes on Tuesday, and has played a major role in each of the Fever’s last two wins.

“That was the first time all year that we didn’t let someone come back, and I think in the first half, we had too many turnovers,” Cunningham said. “Missed too many layups and they are a great-great team, but, again, we have to focus on us, and I think everyone around the league – especially our fans, they’re seeing the growth we’re starting to get better and we’re starting to value the ball more, share the ball more and pick up defensively. I think in the second half, we really came out strong and put the pedal to the metal.”

9th-year Fever guard, Kelsey Mitchell, hardly missed as she went 9-11 from the field and finished with 27 points. Mitchell led all scorers. Caitlin Clark also filled up the stat sheet. The third-year Fever guard ended with 21 points and a season-high 14 assists. Aliyah Boston also pitched in a double-double. As a team, Indiana outrebounded Toronto 43-27. The Fever’s offense also dished out a collective 25 assists on Tuesday. The only knock against the Fever was the team’s 16 turnovers. Despite the double-digit loss, Toronto still shot the ball pretty well. The Tempo knocked down 11 threes and shot 44 percent from beyond the arc as a team. Toronto also had six players finish in double-figures. With the win, Indiana improves to 9-5 on the season and looks ahead to a home matchup against the Atlanta Dream this Thursday, June 18th. Indiana has now scored more than 100 points in four games this season.

Indianapolis Colts Mascot Blue Named NFL Mascot of the Year for the Second Straight Year For the second straight year, Indianapolis Colts mascot Blue has been named the NFL Mascot of the Year. A news release on Tuesday said this is Blue’s fifth Mascot of the Year title, adding to his storied career, including an induction into the Mascot Hall of Fame. The award recognizes mascots across the NFL for excellence in fan engagement, community impact, creativity, game-day performance, and contributions to the mascot profession. Blue, entering his 21st season, is known for his silly antics and unique brand of entertainment, including skits, dance moves, viral trickshots and unforgettable game-day performances. The lovable troublemaker has garnered a large social media following with pranks and entertaining skits.

Outside of football, Blue has become a passionate advocate for youth development, education, and community engagement with appearances at schools and charitable events. “To be recognized by our peers across the NFL is incredibly humbling,” said Trey Mock, creative director of the Colts Mascot Program, in the press release. “This award belongs to Colts fans, our organization and everyone who has allowed me to be part of their lives over the years. The Indians loaded the bases and put up a run in the ninth, but the rally came up short. After the I-Cubs (28-39) posted the first run in the bottom of the first inning, the Indians (28-42) countered with a three-run top of the second. Davis Wendzel doubled with a Jhostynxon Garcia to follow, putting runners at the corners with no outs. An RBI groundout by Rafael Flores Jr. knotted the game and Nick Yorke provided the Indians the lead, beating out an infield single. Yorke took second base with a throwing error on the play and Dominic Fletcher logged an RBI knock for a 3-1 advantage. Iowa tied the game in the bottom of the second and then Indy countered with another three-run inning. Flores drove home a run with a double and Yorke drove in two with a single to left field. The I-Cubs scored in all remaining innings except the sixth, running away with the game. José Urquidy allowed six earned runs across 4.0 innings in the start for the Indians, with Nick Dombkowski (L, 2-3) allowing the next three out of the bullpen. For Iowa, Jordan Wicks allowed six runs in just 3.0 frames, but five I-Cubs arms combined to finish the game, with four of them having scoreless outings. Tyler Beede (W, 2-2) earned the winning decision with 2.0 shutout innings behind Wicks.

Khristian Curtis of the Indianapolis Indians Named International League Pitcher of the Week Minor League Baseball announced that Indianapolis Indians right-handed pitcher Khristian Curtis was named the International League Pitcher of the Week for June 8-14. On Friday night vs. Columbus in his Triple-A debut, Pittsburgh’s No. 21 prospect earned the win with 5.2 shutout innings, one hit, two walks and a career-high tying 10 strikeouts. He is the first Indians player to win an MiLB weekly award this season. Curtis, 24, paved the way to the Indy’s 6-1 win over the Columbus Clippers, eclipsing 10 punchouts for the second time in 2026 (also April 26 with Double-A Altoona at Harrisburg) and the third time in his career. He surpassed Antwone Kelly’s nine strikeouts on May 22 at Toledo for the most in a single outing by an Indianapolis player this season. The 10 set down by Curtis in just 5.2 innings were the most by an Indians pitcher in an outing 5.2 frames or shorter since Mike Burrows fanned 11 across 4.2 innings on May 11, 2025, vs. Columbus.

Indiana University Women’s Basketball Adds Two Canadians to the 2026-2027 Roster Indiana women’s basketball head coach Teri Moren has announced the signing of a pair of Canadian in Camille Pangonis and Ashlyn Anderson for the 2026-27 season.
