This is the third official game on IU\u2019s non-conference schedule. The Hoosiers are also set to play Syracuse (November 9) and Kentucky (November 20), with both games taking place in Indianapolis.   This will be IU\u2019s first time playing against a team coached by John Calipari since 2016, when IU beat Kentucky in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.   IU and Arkansas have played five times before, with Arkansas winning three of the matchups. Their most recent game was in December 2019, a game Arkansas won at Assembly Hall.  Darian DeVries is heading into his second year as IU\u2019s head coach. The Hoosiers look to return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2023. IU went 18-14 in the 2025-26 season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Filming underway in Bloomington for \u2018Little Five,\u2019 celebrating the First Women\u2019s Little 500<\/strong>                                                                                                         Filming began Sunday in Bloomington for the new feature film, \u201cLittle Five.\u201d The movie is based on the inspiring true story of the first women\u2019s Little 500 bicycle race in 1988 at Indiana University.  Bloomington-based Pigasus Pictures is teaming up with Anne Hathaway\u2019s production company Somewhere Pictures for \u201cLittle Five.\u201d The film will feature Rain Spencer and Ariana Greenblatt as university students whose persistence changed the game for women\u2019s collegiate athletics.  Gordon Strain, co-owner of Pigasus Pictures and co-executive producer of Little Five hopes the movie will shine a spotlight on women\u2019s sports.\u00a0\u201cWe felt like if we could help get a film out there, that speaks to women, I mean, it speaks to everybody but really speaks to women, and get an exciting story for everyone to love,\u201d Strain said.   Strain said it was important to him and Zachary Spicer, Pigasus Pictures CEO and Founder, to film \u201cLittle Five\u201d in Bloomington and on IU\u2019s campus.  \u201cI don\u2019t know how to describe it. If you haven\u2019t been to Bloomington, if you haven\u2019t been on IU campus, you\u2019re really missing out. Tuesday, August 4<strong>:<\/strong>\u00a0Alley between College Avenue and Walnut Street \/ 7th Street and 6th Street. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cassie Werne, the special projects and operations manager for public works in Bloomington, says that by being a local company, Pigusus Pictures is taking extra care to ensure production is a great experience for the city and those who call Bloomington home.  \u201cThey [Pigasus Pictures] want this to be an event that really brings the community together and, like I said, really shine a light on Bloomington in a really positive way,\u201d Werne said.\u00a0 Strain says he is grateful for the city\u2019s continued partnership, making production possible.  \u201cThere\u2019s no way we can make any of our movies without the community, and especially this movie because we need so many people. We\u2019re just trying to get people excited, and having fun with it,\u201d Strain said.\u00a0 Pigasus Pictures is looking for 10,000 people to join as extras for \u201cLittle Five.\u201d If you\u2019re interested in stepping into the spotlight, you can fill out this\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLScLHHbSC0UyEpwMhEGPz3aIAXSiy7EiM6TOj9rhd9lvTIhztg\/closedform\">film extra interest form<\/a>. You can find more information on right-of-way impacts\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bloomington.in.gov\/inroads\/events\">here.<\/a>  Little Five is expected to premiere in 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Indiana University Football&#8217;s Charlie Becker named a nominee for the AFCA Good Works Team<\/strong>                                                                                                                Allstate and the American Football Coaches Association named their nominees for the AFCA Good Works Team, which recognizes student-athletes and head coaches in college football that make an impact through community service, academic achievement, and leadership.  IU wide receiver Charlie Becker is one of the nominees.  The 2026 AFCA Good Works Team is announced in September and will include 22 student-athletes and one head coach. There are 175 total nominees, with 162 players and 13 head coaches. The Good Works Team was established in 1992.  On the field, Becker popped in the second half of his sophomore season. He finished the year with 34 catches for 679 yards and four touchdowns. Becker had his season-high in yards in the Big Ten Championship Game victory against Ohio State, finishing with six catches for 126 yards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Former Bloomington North Golfer Kourtney Grimes Wins Her First City of Bloomington Women&#8217;s Golf Tournament Title <\/strong>                                                       Former Bloomington North golfer Kourteney Grimes won her first City Golf title and did so in dominant fashion, beating seventh seeded Lisa Wise, 7 and 6.  Grimes, in her first City Tourney, took a quick 5-up lead after the first eight holes and comfortably finished it out.  Grimes, a fifth seed, advanced by knocking off top seed and current Edgewood golfer Libby McElhinney, 6 and 4 while Wise tripped up No. 2 seed Carly Cauble, 3 and 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Indiana University Football\u2019s Curt Cignetti reveals rationale for major role in video game: \u201cReally good for the program\u201d<\/strong>                                                              Flip on the latest edition of EA Sports College Football 27, and you\u2019re likely to be greeted by IU football coach Curt Cignetti.  \u201cEA Sports. It\u2019s in the game,\u201d he says in the game intro, followed by a wink, with the IU fight song playing in the background.  Cignetti was also featured in a two-minute trailer ahead of the video game\u2019s release this summer, and he\u2019s on the cover of the Deluxe Edition of the game.  He has said he\u2019s turned down plenty of endorsements and appearances since winning the national title.&nbsp; So, what\u2019s in the game for Cignetti and the IU football program?  Millions of eyeballs and ears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The return of the game in 2025 brought in 6.5 million unique users in just a few months EA Sports reported at the time, and it remains one of the top-selling games in the nation.&nbsp; Most of the users are young, including potential recruiting prospects.  There are limits on how often coaches can speak to high school and transfer targets, but no limit on how often Cignetti can appear to them in the video game.  \u201cThat\u2019s the reason we agreed to it. We thought it would be really good for the program, our brand, and recruiting because a lot of the guys play that game,\u201d Cignetti told Pat McAfee.&nbsp; \u201cSo it was fun. It turned out well and so I\u2019m glad we did it. It was good.\u201d  The early returns are favorable.  Since news of Cignetti\u2019s appearance on the cover first leaked in late May, Indiana has added six top-500 recruits, including the program\u2019s first-ever 5-star, in-state receiver Monshun Sales. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Alex Palou wins the IndyCar Music City Grand Prix in Nashville to secure his fifth victory of the season<\/strong>                                                                                            Alex Palou won the Music City Grand Prix on Monday, picking up his fifth victory of the season.  Palou beat out Nashville native Josef Newgarden, who won at Nashville Superspeedway last year.  David Malukas had himself a day as well. After being hospitalized on Saturday due to a crash in practice, he climbed from starting in last at 25th all the way to finishing third, his sixth top five finish of the season.  Pole-winner Kyle Kirkwood finished tenth.  The race was originally scheduled for Sunday but was rescheduled to Monday afternoon due to rain.  Palou maintained his lead in the IndyCar Series Championship standings. Malukas jumped from fourth to second with his podium finish.
