Win Streaks on the Line Between Indiana and Louisville in a Men’s Soccer Showdown<\/strong> After a near-perfect three-match, in-state homestand, the Hoosiers cross the Ohio River tonight to visit Louisville for their first road match of the 2026 season. Both teams come into the meeting with 3-0-0 records. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Fans unable to attend can watch the match on the ACC Network or via the Watch ESPN app. Defeating Notre Dame (3-1), Evansville (3-0) and Butler (1-0) to start the campaign, Indiana has yet to allow a goal from open play, its lone concession a penalty kick in the season opener. The Hoosiers shut out their last two opponents, Evansville and Butler. Indiana’s top-ranked transfer class has made an instant impact, with maybe the most apparent example being Oliver Moller-Jensen. The reigning Top Drawer Soccer National Player of the Week recorded three goals and two assists in his first two matches as a Hoosier and tallied 11 shots on Thursday against Butler. Louisville head coach John Michael Hayden was a two-time national champion (2003-04) as an Indiana player, totaling 13 goals and 10 assists from 2003-06. Monday marks his first time facing his alma mater as a head coach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Louisville opened the season with victories against IU Indy (2-1), Kentucky (3-2) and Lipscomb (3-1). Hayden owns a 60-49-19 record into his eighth season as head coach of Louisville men\u2019s soccer. Midfielder Giacomo Zizza leads the Cardinals with nine points through three matches, coming from four goals and one assist. Indiana and Louisville meet in the regular season for the first time in 10 years, the last matchup coming in 2016 \u2013 a 2-1 victory for IU, as Trevor Swartz converted the winning penalty kick right out of the halftime break. Indiana has won 19 of the 24 meetings all-time, including the first 14 matches of the series. The programs met annually until that 2016 match. IU won each of the last three meeting, and since the programs have met semi-regularly in exhibition matches since. Hayden helped IU to four consecutive 2-0 wins over the Cardinals from 2003-06. In the 2004 meeting, Hayden scored in the fourth minute to lead IU to victory. It was his fifth game-winning goal in six games<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana University Field Hockey Falls in Season Opener to Miami (Ohio)<\/strong> Indiana field hockey was defeated 2-1 on Saturday afternoon against Miami (Ohio) in Louisville, Kentucky. Despite the close fight for possession between both teams, the Hoosiers record falls to 0-1 as the season opens.\u00a0 Third year forward\u00a0Charlotte Glasper\u00a0attempted back-to-back shots in the first quarter to put the Hoosiers on the board, but her attempts were denied before Miami took an early opportunity for a 1-0 advantage. The second quarter was a back-and-forth battle on the field as Indiana fought to equalize the score. First year goalkeeper\u00a0Isa Smulders\u00a0saw action multiple times in the first half before Miami secured the 2-0 lead going into the second half.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hoosiers had back-to-back penalty corner opportunities in the second quarter but were unable to get the ball past Miami defense. First year midfielder Gabriela Gayayo Aranceta put IU on the board at the 43rd minute, assisted by second year back\u00a0Lily Freeman\u00a0on a penalty corner.\u00a0 Despite chances to equalize in the final seconds, the RedHawks secured the 2-1 victory.\u00a0 Glasper notched three shots on goal for the Hoosiers, returning for her third year with the team.\u00a0 The goal by Gayayo Aranceta marks her first of her collegiate career.\u00a0 Hoosier goalkeepers tallied eight total saves throughout the match, with third year\u00a0Sadie Canelli\u00a0and Smulders with the defensive effort. \u00a0Garayo Aranceta and first year midfielder Berta S\u00e1enz de Santa Maria both made their first career starts for IU.\u00a0 First year forward Augustina Garmonal, Smulders and first year midfielder\u00a0Elle Obenour\u00a0made their collegiate debuts with the Hoosiers on Saturday.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana University kicks-off the 2026 Abbott and Big Ten \u2018We Give Blood’ drive as U.S. faces blood supply crisis<\/strong> Indiana University calling on students, alumni and fans to donate blood to bolster national blood supply, compete for $1 million grant. Indiana University joins all 18 Big Ten schools competing in this year’s “We Give Blood” drive \u2014 a nationwide competition between all 18 Big Ten schools to drive the most blood donations and win a $1 million grant from global healthcare company Abbott. For only the second time in its history, the American Red Cross has declared a national blood crisis after donations dropped to a four-year summer low, threatening the availability of lifesaving blood for patients across the country. Indiana students, alumni, and fans can now log blood donations at BigTen.org\/Abbott or by texting GIVEBLOOD to 222688 (ABBOTT) to count for Indiana from now through Dec. 4. Donations made on or after Aug. 12 will count toward the competition, which officially kicked off August 26. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana University Athletics is calling all Hoosiers to donate blood during the Abbott and the Big Ten “We Give Blood” drive, a nationwide competition to turn school pride into life-saving action. For only the second time in its history, the American Red Cross has declared a national blood crisis after donations dropped to a four-year summer low, threatening the availability of lifesaving blood for patients across the country. The competition officially kicked off on Aug. 26, but to help address current shortages, Abbott and the Big Ten will honor any blood donations made starting Aug. 12. Hoosiers from across the country can get involved as early as today by logging any blood donation made on or after Aug. 12, or by scheduling a blood donation at their nearest blood drive or center. While any donation made at any blood center in the U.S. between Aug. 12 and Dec. 4 can count towards the competition, donors in the local Bloomington area can attend any of the following upcoming drives: And many more. Three Indiana University Field Hockey Players Named to the Big Ten Watch List <\/strong> The Big Ten Conference announced its preseason Players to Watch Last Wednesday ahead of the field hockey’s season start of the season over the weekend. Indiana’s In\u00e9s Garcia Prado, Mijntje Hagen and Molly Stutte all were named to the conference’s honorees. Garcia Prado is coming off a 2025 NFHCA All-American and All-Big Ten First Team campaign where she had seven goals and nine assists as well as nine defensive saves. Hagen was an NFHCA All-Region pick and All-Big Ten Second Team selection with six goals and 10 assists. Stutte was named to the Big Ten’s All-Freshman Team a season ago when she notched seven goals and one assist. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Phoenix Rising Hands the Indy Eleven Its First Loss in the Month of August <\/strong> Indy Eleven came back once but could not do it a second time in their first loss in August, a 2-1 setback at Phoenix Rising FC on Saturday. Trailing 1-0 early, the Boys in Blue responded quickly by going from one end to the other.\u00a0 Captain Aodhan Quinn started the sequence with a sliding interception inside his own six, steering it to Jack Blake.\u00a0 He took one touch and played it to Edward Kizza in the center circle.\u00a0 Kizza used the outside of his boot to play a long diagonal ball to the right side to Bruno Rendon.\u00a0 Rendon slipped but recovered quickly to play a cross toward Kizza at the edge of the six, but it was deflected in for an own goal to equalize at 1-1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quinn became the seventh player in Indy Eleven franchise history to play in 100 matches in all competitions for the Boys in Blue. In the 17th minute, Alejandro Mitrano earned a free kick that Cam Lindley played past the far post to Paco Craig, who headed it down, but it was saved by Phoenix goalkeeper Patrick Rakovsky. After the hosts regained the lead in the 28th, the Boys in Blue again produced a quick response opportunity with Josh O\u2019Brien playing a cross into the area to Blake for a header chance. In the 50th minute, Lindley played a diagonal ball from midfield to Mitrano on the left side.\u00a0 Mitrano\u2019s cross to the edge of the six was volleyed by Blake to O\u2019Brien who flew in for a header opportunity. Indy Eleven had a clever buildup in the 58th that led to a Quinn service into the box to Rendon, but again Rakovsky made the save.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indianapolis Colts lose to the Detroit Lions 25-16 in the Final NFL Preseason Game<\/strong> The Indianapolis Colts lost to the Detroit Lions 25-16 inside Lucas Oil Stadium for the team\u2019s final preseason game. Indianapolis may have lost on Saturday, but it was one of the more complete games Indianapolis has played through the preseason. The Colts\u2019 defense forced an astounding five fumbles, recovering three. In total, the Colts\u2019 defense forced four turnovers, including a Sauce Gardner interception in the first quarter. Quarterback Anthony Richardson started the game and went 7-of-10 for 80 passing yards. New Colts wide receiver Keenan Allen also caught his first pass with the horseshoe. His only catch came on Indy\u2019s first drive of the game, a 24-yard reception from Richardson that led to three points. The Colts\u2019 one an only touchdown of the afternoon came from running back DJ Giddens, who powered his way to the endzone from the six-yard line with just under three minutes before half time. After the first two quarters, Detroit led 19-13 heading into the locker room. Kicker Spencer Shrader also continued his impressive run during the preseason. Shrader tacked on a 60-yard field goal in the third quarter to put the score at 19-16. Shrader has now made two kicks of 60 or more yards this preseason. While Shrader\u2019s kick made it just a three-point game, Detroit\u2019s offense went on a nearly eight-minute drive to open the fourth quarter, capped off by a one-yard Trayveon Williams touchdowns to give the Lions a two-score lead. Indianapolis ended the preaseason with a 0-1-2 record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taylor University Football Receives Votes in NAIA Preseason Poll<\/strong> Just days from opening its 2026 campaign, the Taylor football team earned national recognition, receiving votes in the NAIA Top-25 Preseason Poll. The Trojans were one-of-40 teams to be ranked or receive votes in the poll. TU maintained its position in the receiving votes portion of the rankings after spending the entirety of the 2025 season in that part of the rankings. Taylor finished its 2025 season at 7-4 overall and was recently picked to repeat its second-place finish in the MSFA Mideast League standings. TU brought back 16 starters and 12 All-MSFA players for the 2026 roster. The Purple and Gray will face a tough slate in 2026 as it searches for a third-straight winning season for the first time since 1997 through 1999. Of the 11 teams on its schedule, six join Taylor in the Preseason Top-25 Poll, with three teams ranked in the Top-25 and three more receiving votes just outside the Top-25. RV Taylor will open the season with three-straight meetings against foes receiving votes in the poll, starting that stretch at RV Olivet Nazarene on Thursday, August 27 at 8:00 pm (ET).
