Indiana’s Offense Pulls Away for First Win of the Women’s Volleyball Season<\/strong> Things started to click late game four. Some late rips from second-year outside hitter\u00a0Jaidyn Jager\u00a0and great decision making from second-year setter\u00a0Teodora Krickovic\u00a0was the deciding factor in a 3-1 (26-24, 25-22, 22-25, 25-17) win for the Indiana volleyball team (1-1, 0-0 B1G) over Georgia on Tuesday evening at Mackey Arena in West Lafayette. IU’s offense found its footing in the fourth set, hitting a game-high .375 (16-4-32) to ice the first win of the season away. Jager led the team with 19 kills while third-year opposite hitter\u00a0Ella Boersema\u00a0(12) and first-year outside hitter\u00a0Sara Snowbarger\u00a0(10) joined her in double digits with respective career highs. Boersema hit .667 on the night with zero errors on 18 attempts. Krickovic dished out 50 assists in just four sets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hoosiers won the serve-receive battle as the back row settled in through the night’s proceedings. Second-year libero\u00a0Hannah Leftridge\u00a0recorded a career-high 17 digs and added two aces. IU had more aces (6-5) and digs (55-48) than Georgia over the course of four sets. Fifth-year middle blocker\u00a0Kiki Granberry\u00a0led the team with four blocks. This is the seventh win over a non-conference, power four opponent during head coach\u00a0Steve Aird’s tenure on the bench in Bloomington. It’s the fifth-straight year that IU has won a game during the non-conference against a team from the ACC or SEC (2022 \u2013 Texas A&M, 2023 \u2013 Miami (Fla.), 2024 \u2013 Notre Dame, 2025 \u2013 Miami (Fla.) and 2026 \u2013 Georgia).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The consistent ability to score points was massive for the Hoosiers in the four-set win. IU had at least 14 kills in all four sets. The fourth set of the contest was the cleanest of them all with the team hitting .375 (16-4-32).\u00a0Jaidyn Jager\u00a0and\u00a0Ella Boersema\u00a0combined for nine kills in the final set of the night. Service and reception also stepped up as the night went on. IU had just four service errors and three reception errors following the conclusion of the first set. An advantage (59-48) in kills, helped overcome some untimely mistakes early in the proceedings against Georgia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Third-year opposite hitter\u00a0Ella Boersema, who is transitioning to a new position on the right side, recorded a career-high in kills (12) and hitting percentage (.667). It was the first match in her time as an IU player with double-digit kills. She also added four dig and an ace in IU’s win over Georgia. At the same time, first-year outside hitter\u00a0Sara Snowbarger\u00a0continues to step up when her number is called. She added a career-high 10 kills and seven digs while playing six rotations for the first time in her time in college. She’s the third freshman (Jager, Gray) with at least 10 kills in the last two seasons. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the last three years, IU is now 14-3 when three players have at least 10 kills. All three of the Hoosiers’ pin hitters were in double figures on Tuesday, led by 19 from second-year outside hitter\u00a0Jaidyn Jager. It’s the first time IU has had all three pins with 10-or-more kills since a win over Maryland (Nov. 16, 2025) last season. Second-year setter\u00a0Teodora Krickovic\u00a0ran a great offense on Tuesday evening. All five primary attackers had at least seven kills. She dished out 50 assists in the win, the second match of her career with at least 50 helpers. She’s the first IU setter with 50 assists in a four-set match since former All-American\u00a0Camryn Haworth\u00a0(53 \u2013 vs. Maryland, Nov. 17, 2023).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana Hoosiers Men’s Golf Tie for 16th at Fox Den Country Club in Knoxville, Tennessee <\/strong> The Indiana men’s golf team shot an 858 (286-285-283; +14) at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate hosted by the University of Tennessee at the Fox Den Country Club to open the week. The Hoosiers tied for 16th in the team standings. Fourth-year\u00a0Nick Piesen\u00a0found himself atop the Hoosier lineup with a three-round scorecard of 208 (69-68-71; -2). He tied for 20th overall and ended the week with eight birdies. Third-year\u00a0Bradley Chill Jr.<\/a><\/dfn>\u00a0shot a 213 (71-74-68; +3) with eight birdies. He made multiple birdie tries in each round. Second-year\u00a0Jake Cesare, who made his official Indiana lineup debut, shot a 214 (74-70-70; +4) with seven total birdie conversions, which included the final three holes of Tuesday’s final round. First-year\u00a0Duff McKay\u00a0ended his collegiate debut at 222 (72-73-77; +12) with a team-best 10 birdies. Second-year\u00a0Caleb Schnarr\u00a0played a 226 (76-76-74; +16) with four birdies. The Hoosiers return to competition for the Highlands Invitational from Sept. 21-22 at the Chicago Highlands Club. Indiana will also compete in the Windon Memorial Classic from Sept. 28-29 at the Onwensia Club in Lake Forest, Ill., this month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana’s Nick McHenry Named Big Ten Defensive Soccer Player of the Week<\/strong> \u00a0 Indiana men’s soccer defender\u00a0Nick McHenry\u00a0was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday. McHenry also earned an honorable mention in the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week. The transfer and third-year player scored the winning goal in Indiana’s 1-0 victory over Butler on Thursday, helping IU keep a second consecutive clean sheet. The Hoosiers held opponents to 12 shots and two shots on goal in two matches this cycle. Indiana has not conceded a goal from open play through four matches (360 minutes) this season. On Monday, IU held UofL to its fewest goals (1), shots (10) and shots on goal (2) to break the Cardinals’ winning streak with a 1-1 draw in Louisville. IU’s lone concession came from a curling free kick just out of goalkeeper\u00a0Michal Mroz’s\u00a0reach. McHenry earns his fourth-career Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honor and first as a Hoosier, having won in twice in 2025 and once as a freshman in 2024 while playing for Ohio State. McHenry and the Hoosiers return home this week for the adidas\/IU Credit Union Classic, hosting Cal Poly on Friday (Sept. 4) and Denver on Monday (Sept. 7).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three Indiana University Field Hockey Players Land on NFHCA Players to Watch List<\/strong> The National Field Hockey Association (NFHCA) released its 2026 Watchlist on Thursday, naming three Hoosiers to the list. Senior midfielder In\u00e9s Garcia Prado was selected for the second season in a row. Garcia Prado led the team in scoring in both the 2024 and 2025 campaigns, earning accolades such as NFHCA All-Region, NFHCA All-American and All Big Ten First Team.  She is joined by freshman midfielder Gabriela Garayo Aranceta. The Santander, Spain native starts her collegiate career with a multitude of championship appearances and wins in various Spanish youth championships, including a first and second place finishes in the Six Nations Tournament on the Spanish U18 National Team.  Junior forward Mijntje Hagen makes her first appearance on the list after a standout sophomore campaign. Her six goals and 10 assists landed her on the 2025 All Big Ten Second Team and NFHCA All-Region lists. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This list is intended to showcase field hockey student-athletes with the strongest potential for consideration to the current year’s NFHCA All-Region and All-American teams. To be nominated for the 2026 NFHCA Watchlist, student-athletes must have been previously recognized for their outstanding field hockey abilities within the past two years (NFHCA All-Region, NFHCA All-American, All-Conference, Senior Nexus Championship selection, NCAA All-Tournament Team, and\/or U.S. National or International Team roster) and nominated by their NFHCA member coach. This list does not constitute a nomination or selection to the NFHCA All-Region or All-American teams. Student-athletes not listed on the NFHCA Watchlist may still be nominated for NFHCA All-Region and All-American recognition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indianapolis Colts Wide Receiver Keenan Allen arrested by the Indianapolis Metro Police Department on OWI charges<\/strong> Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Keenan Allen was arrested early Sunday morning in Indianapolis on preliminary OWI charges.  According to IMPD, shortly after 1 a.m. on Aug. 30 officers began a traffic investigation in the 100 block of South Meridian Street after watching a vehicle park in a no-parking zone.  When officers went to speak with the driver, later identified as Allen, they reportedly noticed signs of intoxication. Further investigation led officers to arrest Allen on preliminary charges of operating while intoxicated with a .08 or higher BAC and operating while intoxicated endangering a person. Both are misdemeanors.  The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will make the final charging decision. Allen was signed to the Colts less than two weeks ago. The team made the announcement<\/a> on Aug. 19, which touts Allen as a “six-time Pro Bowler with over 1,000 career receptions.” The Colts sent the following statement about the situation: \u201cWe are aware of the incident involving Keenan Allen last night. We are in the process of gathering more information and have no further comment at this time.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Big Ten Announces Hosts For 2026-27 Olympic Sports Tournaments and Championships<\/strong> The Big Ten Conference announced the dates and host sites for 2026-27 Olympic sports championships and tournaments. For the second consecutive year, all Big Ten Women\u2019s Olympic Sports Championships & Tournaments will be presented by Allstate, the title sponsor of the Allstate Big Ten Women\u2019s Championship Series. A complete schedule is below. The first postseason hardware of the fall will be handed out on October 30 in Madison, Wisconsin, at the 2026 Big Ten Men\u2019s & Women\u2019s Cross Country Championships on the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course, which hosted the 2024 NCAA Championships and numerous NCAA Regionals. The following weekend, the Big Ten Field Hockey Tournament will take place at Ohio State\u2019s Buckeye Varsity Field from Nov. 4-8, and the quarter- and semifinals of the Big Ten Women\u2019s Soccer Tournament unfold at Energizer Park, home of Major League Soccer\u2019s St. Louis CITY SC. The women\u2019s tournament champion will be determined on Nov. 13 on the home field of the highest remaining seed, and the men\u2019s soccer tournament title also will be handed out on Nov. 15 on the highest remaining seed\u2019s campus.

The winter championships begin in the pool with the Women\u2019s Swimming & Diving Championships taking place Feb. 17-20 in Iowa City, and the Men\u2019s Championships from Feb. 24-27 at Purdue\u2019s Morgan J. Burke Aquatics Center. The 2027 Men\u2019s & Women\u2019s Indoor Track & Field Championships return to the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion Feb. 25-27. For the first time, the Big Ten Wrestling Championships will be hosted at a neutral site, Columbus\u2019 Nationwide Arena, home of the NHL\u2019s Blue Jackets. The conference that has produced 19 consecutive NCAA team champions will gather in Ohio\u2019s capital city March 6-7. The Big Ten Ice Hockey tournament title will be determined on March 19 at the home of the highest remaining seed in the tournament, and the winter season will conclude with Women\u2019s Gymnastics March 19-20 at Ohio State, and Men\u2019s Gymnastics April 2-3 at Penn State.

Spring action gets underway April 22-25 with the Big Ten Women\u2019s Tennis Tournament at Illinois\u2019 Atkins Tennis Center. The Big Ten Women\u2019s Golf Championships will be contested April 23-25 at Nemacolin Resort in Farmington, Pennsylvania. From April 28-May 2, the Women\u2019s Lacrosse Tournament heads west for the first time at USC\u2019s Rawlinson Stadium. That same weekend Men\u2019s Tennis will determine a tournament champion at Michigan\u2019s Varsity Tennis Center in Ann Arbor, and the Men\u2019s Golf Championships will take place at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, New Jersey. The Big Ten Men\u2019s Lacrosse Tournament will be held May 6-8 at Penn State\u2019s Panzer Stadium. Big Ten Softball will determine its tournament champion May 12-15 at Bowlin Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska. The Men\u2019s and Women\u2019s Outdoor Track & Field Championships head to TrackTown USA, Eugene, Oregon, at historic Hayward Field, while the Big Ten Rowing Championships return to the Indianapolis Rowing Center May 15-16.

For the eighth consecutive year, the final Big Ten tournament title of the season will be handed out in Omaha, Nebraska, where the Big Ten Baseball Tournament will be played at Charles Schwab Field Omaha from May 25-30.
