The #1 Ranked Class 5A Bloomington South Panthers cruised to a 77-0 win over the Terre Haute North Patriots Friday Night at Fred Huff Memorial Field on the Southside of Bloomington. The Panthers are 3-0 on the season and will host 2-1 Muncie Central this Friday Night at 7 PM.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Panthers set a school record for most points scored in a single game since 1972-73 when they became Bloomington South. The Panthers scored 69 points three times twice in 1972 against Columbus. North 69-21 and Greensburg 69-7 and in 2008 against City Rival Bloomington North 69-41. The Panthers led 35-0 after the first quarter and 56-0 at halftime. The Panthers are averaging 56.3 points per game and giving up 6.7 points per game on defense. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bloomington North beat Martinsville 46-20 at Dennis O Martin Memorial Field on the Northside of Bloomington give new head coach Andy Harding his first home win in his third game in charge of the Cougars. After scoring 6 points in the opener against Bloomington South the Cougars have scored 87 points during their two game winning streak and are averaging 31 points on Offense and giving up 34.7 points on defense. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Carter Matthew caught 6 passes for 158 yards and 2 touchdowns along with 2 rushing touchdowns for 38 yards. Nate Walker scored and offensive and defensive touchdown. Freshman Quarterback Fisher Pugh was 15-20 for 254 Yards and 3 touchdowns and as thrown for 595 yards in the last two games. The Cougars 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the Mid State Conference and will travel to Mooresville on Friday to take on the 2-1 Pioneers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
South Putnam beat Edgewood 42-6 at South Putnam. The Mustangs are 1-2 and will host Owen Valley for the annual black and blue trophy game as the Patriots come in with a 2-1 record after suffering a 34-13 home loss to Cloverdale Friday Night. Edgewood has been outscored 78-6 the last two weeks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
South Putnam is 3-0 on the season and will host 2-1 Vincennes Lincoln on Friday as the Eagles have won 11 straight games and have outscored the opponents 158-20 this season. Edgewood and South Putnam are tied 6-6 in the series the last 40 years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
