The Hoosiers are 7-0-1 on the season and 2-0 in the Big Ten and will hit the road Tuesday Night to face the Wisconsin Badgers at 8 PM on the Big Ten Network. Washington is 4-3-1 on the season and 1-1 in the Big Ten and will remain on the road traveling to Ohio State on Monday Night to face the Buckeyes at 7 PM. Indiana has its best start since 1997 when it started 7-0-0. The Hoosiers are 6-0 at home and have outscored their opponents 14-2 and though 8 matches Indiana has scored 15 goals and allowed 3 so far and Hoosier Goalkeeper Michal Mroz has posted 5 five clean sheets in 8 matches.

Indiana leads the all-time series with Washington 5-3-1. Indiana won the first four in the series in 1992, 1999, 2000 and 2001 with the first three wins coming in the NCAA Tournament. Washington won in the 2021 NCAA Tournament and beat the Hoosiers in 2023 and 2025 and a draw in 2024. This is the first time since Washington joined the Big Ten in 2024 that the Hoosiers have beaten the Huskies in Conference Play. Hoosier Head Coach Todd Yeagley is 223-76-59 in 17 seasons at his alma mater and 230-85-61 in 18 seasons overall. Yeagley earned his 62nd ranked victory, improving to 62-39-20 against Top 25 opponents in his career. The result also marked his first victory against Washington as a head coach. Washington Head Coach Jamie Clark is 194-75-42 in his 16th season in Seattle and 223-90-45 in 19 seasons overall.

Indiana’s back line held Washington’s Zach Ramsey and Alex Hall in check as Ramsey came into the match with 11 goals and Hall had 2 goals and 4 assists. Ramsey played 55 minutes and had 2 shots, and neither was on target. Hall had 3 shots and 2 on target. Washington came into the match leading the Big Ten with 3.1 goals per game and Michal Mroz had a season high 8 saves as the Hoosiers keep their unbeaten season alive and keep marching towards another Big Ten Regular Season Title. Mroz’s season-high eight saves marked his most since making 10 for Evansville in a 1-0 victory over NIU last season (Oct. 25, 2025). It also marked the most saves by an IU goalkeeper since Holden Brown made 10 in last season’s 3-0 defeat at Washington (Oct. 3, 2025).

The Hoosiers are 852-209-124 all-time and 159-40-32 in the Big Ten. Indiana is 387-67-54 all-time at Bill Armstrong Stadium and since 2016 they are 101-11-17 and have 70 shutouts through 129 matches. Indiana took control of the match as it reached double-digit minutes, and the game rewarded the Hoosiers for their early pressure. In the 16th Minute Stephane Njike took on a defender at the corner of the box from the left wing, beat him to the endline and threw up an in-swinging cross. The ball carried past the Husky goalkeeper and found Easton Bogard rising at the six-yard box, giving him an easy header into an open goal. It was Bogard’s fourth goal of the season and Nijke’s second assist of the season. Bogard’s four goals this season marks a career-high for the third-year Hoosier, who recorded three goals in 19 appearances last year. Njike has recorded a goal or assist in three consecutive matches, contributing to the winning goal in all three matches.

In the 28th Minute the Hoosiers had a great chance to make it two as Njike had a one-on-one opportunity with the goalkeeper from a turnover in the final third. As the keeper rushed him, Njike tried to chip but got under it and put it over the crossbar. Four Minutes Later Mroz was called into action minutes later as Washington’s Alex Hall crossed to Wyatt Lewis waiting around the six-yard box. Lewis got his head on it and bounced it into the turf, but Mroz got a hand on it and pushed it away to an offside Husky, killing the sequence.

In the First Half Washington had a 7-6 shot advantage and 3-2 shots on goal. Mroz had 3 first half saves and Washington’s Stockton Short had 1 save which was his only save of the match. Washington committed 3 fouls and Indiana committed 2 fouls. Washington had 2 corner kicks and Indiana had 1 and Huskies were called for offsides 4 times. Washington had perhaps its best chance with eight minutes to play as midfielder Wyatt Lewis dribbled from the top of the box, past an Indiana defender on the left side and shot with the outside of his right foot. His shot cleared Mroz but trickled just wide of the back post.

Tempers flared between the two teams as the horn sounded after a 90-minute intense and physical battle. Washington outshot Indiana 19-9 and 8-2 shots on goal. Mroz had 5 second half saves for his 5th shutout as a Hoosier and 16th in his career. Washington committed 10 fouls and Indiana committed six. Indiana had 4 corner kicks and Washington had 3 corner kicks and Washington was called offsides 5 times.

If the Hoosiers can beat Wisconsin and Penn State to close out the month of September, then the Hoosiers are sitting pretty heading into October where they perform at their best. Indiana knows it’s one game at time, but the Hoosiers have aced very test that has been thrown at them, and they are keeping their eyes forward for a chance to get that ninth star on the jersey and the first since 2012.

By Nick Jenkinson-SCINN Sports Director #2 Indiana Hoosiers Men’s Soccer Team remained unbeaten with a 1-0 win over the Defending National Champions and #16 Washington Huskies Friday Night on Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium.
