Indiana Hoosiers Men’s Soccer Heads North for Another Top 25 Tilt<\/strong> After shutting out No. 16 Washington in a 1-0 victory Friday, unbeaten Indiana men’s soccer (7-0-1, 2-0-0 B1G) resumes Big Ten Conference play with another ranked opponent Tonight at Wisconsin (5-1-1, 0-1-1 B1G). Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET at the McClimon Soccer Complex. Fans can watch on match via the Big Ten Network. Top Drawer Soccer is the first outlet to have updated its national Top 25 poll this week. In that poll, Indiana ranks No. 2, and Wisconsin sits at No. 14. United Soccer Coaches and College Soccer News will release their rankings today. IU has opened league play with back-to-back wins, while the Badgers are looking for their first Big Ten victory of the campaign following a spotless non-conference slate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tonight’s matchup pits an unstoppable force \u2013 Wisconsin averages 2.4 goals per game \u2013 against an immovable object \u2013 Indiana boasts a 0.38 goals against average. IU’s five clean sheets through eight games matches its 2025 season shutout total. Todd Yeagley kicked off his head coaching career with one season at Wisconsin in 2009 before returning to Bloomington to lead his alma mater. Indiana is 7-0-0 when scoring first this season and has trailed for less than nine minutes (~1.25 percent of total minutes played).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wisconsin opened the season with five consecutive victories, outscoring opponents 16-2 in its matches leading into Big Ten Conference play. The Badgers rescued a 1-1 draw in their league opener against Ohio State with a last-minute goal. On Friday, they suffered their first loss, a 1-0 defeat at No. 8 Maryland.
Markie Hrvojevic (4 goals, 9 points), Matthew Zachemski (3 goals, 7 points) and Emile Kisse (3 goals) have led the production for a Wisconsin attack that averages 2.4 goals per game. Neil Jones leads the Badgers in his fifth season with the program, earning a 32-25-14 record during his time in Madison. Over 14 seasons as a head coach, Jones has compiled a 113-79-40 record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Indiana and Wisconsin prepare for their 60th meeting, IU has won 44 of the 59 matches coming into Tuesday’s match. The Hoosiers are unbeaten in its last 10 games against Wisconsin (9-0-1) going back to 2018 and haven’t suffered a regulation loss in the series since 2013. In a 4-1 victory on home ground last season, current Hoosiers Alex Barger (1 G), Josh Maher (1 G, 1 A), Breckin Minzey (1 G) and Collins Oduro (1 G) all contributed directly to the result.
Oduro has three goals and one assist in his career versus the Badgers. In 2024, he led IU to a 3-2 victory in Madison, contributing to all three goals with a brace and an assist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana University’s Schedule has been Announced for Spartanburg College Baseball Series<\/strong> Next season’s second weekend became clearer as the Spartanburg College Baseball Series unveiled the round-robin slate for the Indiana baseball program on Monday afternoon. The Hoosiers will close out the month of February with games against UNCW, Wofford and Austin Peay in South Carolina. IU was announced as a member of this tournament back in the summer but will now know its dates and opponents. Head coach Jeff Mercer and his group will open the weekend against UNCW (Friday, Feb. 26 \u2013 1:30 p.m.) before wrapping up with Wofford (Saturday, Feb. 27 \u2013 6 p.m.) and Austin Peay (Sunday, Feb. 28 \u2013 10:30 a.m.). IU will be the visitors in the first two games and serve as the designated home team to end the weekend. The Hoosiers have been accustomed to playing these early season, regional-like tournaments under Mercer. Since 2022, IU has played in Jacksonville (2026), Cary (2025), Frisco (2024), Greenville (2023) and Round Rock (2022) against some of the best programs in the country. As it stands, this is one of three Minor League ballparks that IU will play in during the 2027 campaign. With the announcement of the Spartanburg College Baseball Series schedule, 11 of IU’s 14 weekends for the 2027 season are now public. The rest of next year’s slate will be unveiled later in the fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana Hoosiers Women’s Soccer Drop 2-0 Match at No. 14 Wisconsin<\/strong> Indiana women’s soccer fell in their second straight ranked matchup on Sunday afternoon. The Hoosiers fell 2-0 to No. 14 Wisconsin on the road. With the loss, the Hoosiers hold a 4-4-1 record overall and 1-2 in conference play. Wisconsin took the early lead scoring in the first minute of the match. KK Panella was credited the goal and was assisted by Izy Traub. The Badgers scored their second goal in the 20th<\/sup> minute by Erin Connolly. She was assisted by Halley Baumann to take the 2-0 lead into halftime. The Hoosiers continued to make things difficult for Wisconsin but were never able to find their rhythm offensively. Indiana forced the Wisconsin keeper to make two saves but were never able to find the back of the net. Five Hoosiers recorded a shot attempt [Ehret 2, Droner, Hamm, Coffield, Quinn]. IU forced eight Wisconsin fouls. The Hoosiers held Wisconsin to three shots on goal. Indiana University Women Soccer will be back home this week as they take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Thursday, September 24th<\/sup> at 7:30 pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana University Field Hockey Falls to Iowa in a Shootout<\/strong> \u00a0 Indiana field hockey fell in a close match against No.2 Iowa on Sunday afternoon at Grant Field in Iowa City, Iowa. It is now 5-3 overall and 1-0 in B1G play. The game remained scoreless until the fourth quarter, when both teams scored a goal to make the score 1-1 at the end of regulation. The contest was forced to a shootout, where IU made three out of six attempts before falling 3-4 to Iowa.\u00a0 It was a slow start for both teams who found themselves in a back-and-forth battle on the defensive end. The Hoosiers were allotted two penalty corners in the first quarter. To close out the first, first year forward Agustina Garmonal found an opportunity in the circle, but it was blocked by Iowa goalkeeper Julia Claessens. Garmonal attempted the only shot in the second quarter, but her strike went wide. The half closed out with Iowa not being allowed a single shot, whereas Indiana was able to find four. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hawkeyes picked up the pace in their offense after the break. In three shot attempts and two on goal, they were unable to add to the score. Third year goalkeeper Sadie Canelli put effort in the cage to add a save and prevent Iowa from knocking one in.\u00a0 The Hoosiers stayed busy in Iowa territory in the final minutes of the game. Second year midfielder Sydney Meltzer tried for two penalty corners. In the first penalty corner, fourth year midfielder In\u00e9s Garcia Prado had back-to-back blocked shots, giving Meltzer the opportunity to strike. Her attempt was saved by Iowa’s goalkeeper. In the second Penalty Corner, second year forward\/midfielder Molly Stutte had a chance at a shot that went wide.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a penalty corner opportunity was given to Iowa, they added the first goal of the day to get the 1-0 advantage in the 53rd minute.\u00a0 With Canelli now in the field, IU hustled in the end of the fourth to try and equalize the score. In the 57th minute, fourth year forward\/midfielder Theresa Ricci did just that as she put one in the top of the net with the help of Stutte. At the end of regulation, the score was 1-1.\u00a0 With no team finding luck in the overtime period, the contest went to a shootout. Second year forward Celia Arroyo Cabezudo, third year forward Mintje Hagen and Stutte were successful in getting shots in for IU. Iowa ultimately took the advantage getting four shots in, making the final score 2-1 (4-3 PS.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The last time Indiana had a contest go to a shootout was against Maryland in 2025, where it won 2-1 (2-0 PS.) Canelli had a season high of five saves, with two being in the penalty shot period.\u00a0 Despite playing a conference opponent, the match-up was non-conference due to an agreement between the two teams.\u00a0 Indiana totaled 12 shots throughout the game, with four being on goal. Garcia Prado had the most shots for the Hoosiers, adding three to the scoresheet.\u00a0 IU is back home on Saturday, September 26 to continue B1G play against No. 13 Michigan. The pair will play at noon at Deborah Tobias Field in Bloomington, Ind.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indianapolis Colts fall to the Kansas City Chiefs on the road in overtime 33-30<\/strong> The Indianapolis Colts fell to the Chiefs on the road in overtime, 33-30. Indianapolis held up in the second half, forcing overtime with the score knotted up at 27-27. It was a rollercoaster ride for the Colts in overtime. After the Colts\u2019 defense allowed a Chiefs field goal on the opening drive of overtime to put the score at 30-27, the Colts offense had a chance to seal the win with a touchdown. After a Daniel Jones 48-yard pass that put the Colts in the red zone, Indianapolis had the Kansas City defense on their heels. Kansas City held the Colts to a 4th and 8, and head coach Shane Steichen decided to kick a field goal instead of going for it to tie the game at 30-30. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chiefs offense scored the game-winning field goal on the following drive. Coach Steichen described his decision to kick instead of going for it after the loss. \u201cI was trying to finish the game with JT [Jonathan Taylor] with the ball in his hands,\u201d Steichen said. \u201cObviously, he ran it there on first down, ran it again on second down, then we got to a third and long, and they knocked us back there. Daniel [Jones] scrambled there right on the sideline. Then it was fourth and eight, had a play called. Had to love the look to run it there. If not, obviously we took the delay of game there and kicked the field goal to tie it.\u201d Colts’ cornerback Sauce Gardner shared his frustrations following the Colts\u2019 narrow overtime loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThose are the types of games that you will think about for a little bit more. A lot of us are probably going to think about it all night like dang man we could\u2019ve done this better, we should\u2019ve did this, we should\u2019ve did that. We\u2019ve got to be able to finish these types of games,\u201d Gardner said. \u201cWe went to OT against them last year. They found a way to finish; we\u2019ve got to find a way to finish.\u201d In overtime, Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker won the game on a 40-yard field goal. The Colts\u2019 next matchup is next Sunday, September 27th, at home against the Houston Texans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washington Mystics beat Indiana Fever 93-77 to move within 1 game in the WNBA standings<\/strong> Kiki Iriafen scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to help the Washington Mystics beat Indiana 93-77 and pull within a game of the fifth-place Fever. Shakira Austin added 20 points with 10 boards for the Mystics (26-16), who are one of three teams just a game behind Indiana (27-15) with two regular-season games remaining. The Fever finish with a home-and-home series Tonight and Thursday against the Minnesota Lynx, owners of the WNBA\u2019s best record at 32-10. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sonia Citron scored 16 points and just missed a double-double with nine assists. Georgia Amoore had 11 points with three 3-pointers. The Mystics jumped out to a 34-19 lead at the end of the first quarter. They led by as many as 26 before closing the half with a 51-30 advantage. Washington was up 77-61 entering the fourth and never were threatened. Caitlin Clark scored 25 with five assists and Kelsey Mitchell had 22 points for the Fever. But the All-WNBA backcourt shot a combined 14 of 40 from the floor, including making just 6-of-20 3-pointers. Fever All-Star center Aliyah Boston encountered foul trouble and scored just seven points on eight shots. And Indiana’s bench didn’t contribute a point until Raven Johnson’s jumper with 4:35 remaining in the third quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ninth Inning Rush Leads the Indianapolis Indians to a Win in the Final Game of the Season<\/strong> Mitch Jebb smacked an RBI single into right field for the lead in the ninth inning and Duce Gourson later followed with a two-run home run as the Indianapolis Indians defeated the Gwinnett Stripers, 9-6, on Sunday afternoon at Gwinnett Field. Indy finished the season with a 75-75 record. Jebb collected two stolen bases to surpass 100 in his career. Derek Berg doubled to open the ninth for the Indians (44-31, 75-75) and Mike Jarvis moved him to third with a sacrifice bunt. Jebb then tomahawked a high pitch over the infield for a 7-6 lead. Jebb stole second, got thrown out trying to steal third and Jesus Castillo drew a walk. Gourson then launched his sixth homer of the campaign for a 9-6 lead at Gwinnett (38-37, 76-73). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Stripers scored first with one run in the first inning and Indy countered with a three-run second frame to take the lead. Berg drove in two with a double and Jebb singled to bring home a third run. Jebb hit a sacrifice fly in the fourth for a 4-1 lead. Jhostynxon Garcia extended the lead to 5-1 with a moonshot in the fifth, hitting a solo homer 443 feet for the farthest-tracked ball of his career. An RBI groundout from Berg in the sixth tacked on one more for Indy. The Stripers began their comeback and scored five unanswered runs to tie the game, 6-6, before the Indians made their mark in the ninth. Hunter Barco tossed 5.0 innings of one-run ball (0er) for Indianapolis, giving way to the bullpen. Brandon Neeck (W, 4-3) authored a scoreless eighth inning and Justin Meis (S, 2) retired all three batters he faced to end the contest. James Karinchak (L, 4-4) allowed the final three Indy runs on the hill for Gwinnett. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
