The Top Ranked Team in Class 5A the Bloomington South Panthers look to stay unbeaten as they host the Columbus North Bulldogs this evening at 7 PM at Fred Huff Memorial Field on the Southside of Bloomington. The Panthers have rolled through the first five games outscoring the opponent 268-41 with shutouts including a 54-0 win at Greenfield Central a week ago. Head Coach Gabe Johnson is 56-18 in his 7th season in charge of the Panthers and 70-28 in nine years overall. Bloomington South is averaging 53.6 points per game on Offense and allowing 8.2 points on defense. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Columbus North is 3-2 on the season and has suffered back-to-back losses at home against Indianapolis Roncalli 27-15 and Yorktown 24-7. The Bulldogs started the season 3-0 with a 14-7 road win at Whiteland followed 42-14 home win over crosstown rival Columbus East and 56-8 win at Marion. The Bulldogs average 26.8 points on offense and give up 16 points on defense. Head Coach James Davis is in his first year in charge of Columbus North. Bloomington South beat Columbus North 55-24 on October 3, 2025, and leads the series the last 40 years 23-18. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Bloomington North Cougars hit the road heading to the Southside of Indianapolis to take on the Perry Meridian Falcons at 7 PM. Bloomington North is 3-2 overall and coming off a 35-14 home loss to Plainfield last week. The Cougars are 2-0 in road games this season winning at Bedford North Lawrence 41-40 and Mooresville 37-18. Head Coach Andy Harding is in his first year in charge of his alma mater as the Cougars have been outscored 157-144 and averaging 28.8 points on offense and giving up 31.4 points per game on defense. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Perry Meridian is 3-2 on the season and took down Whiteland on the road 31-10 last week. The Falcons beat Southport at home 45-14 in Week 2 and won at Franklin 24-14 in Week 3. Perry Meridian lost the season opener at Beech Grove 26-14. The Falcons average 25.6 points on Offense and give up 23.4 points on Defense. Head Coach Rob Patchett is no stranger to Monroe County as he was the Head Coach at Edgewood for two seasons in 2002-03 with a 7-15 record. Patchett is in his first season as the head coach of Perry Meridian and in 15 seasons as an overall record of 66-84. This will be the first meeting between the two teams since September 22, 2017, when Bloomington North won 34-24. Perry Merdian leads the series 19-6 in the last 40 years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Edgewood Mustangs will make the Hour and half Bus Ride to Vincennes Lincoln tonight to take on the Alices at 7 PM. Vincennes Lincoln joined the Western Indiana Conference this season. Edgewood is 3-2 and has posted back-to-back wins over Owen Valley 31-12 and West Vigo 49-7 along with a 29-8 win over Springs Valley in Week 2. Edgewood is averaging 23 points on offense and giving up 21 points on defense. Scott Fischer is 12-22 in his fourth season and 29-67 in 10 seasons overall. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Vincennes Lincoln is 3-2 on the season and coming off a 55-0 win over Linton last week at home. The Alices beat Terre Haute South 7-6 in Week 1 at home and dominated West Vigo on the road 63-0 in Week 3. Vincennes Lincoln lost at Northview 49-14 in Week 2 and South Putnam 49-13 in Week 4. The Alices average 30.4 points per game on Offense and give up 20.8 points on defense. Head Coach Levi Salters is 54-52 in his 10th season at Vincennes Lincoln. This will be first regular season meeting between the two teams in the last 40 years.
