The Hoosiers have won seven of their last eight matchups. In the third minute of play, the first quarter started off with an early penalty corner to be taken by the Hoosiers. Michigan State had the opportunity to take a corner of its own in the sixth minute, but both teams completed their attempts without scoring. During the corner by the Spartans, third-year goalkeeper Sadie Canelli aided in the unsuccessful shot by making a crucial save for the Hoosiers. The game would remain scoreless after the first. In the second frame, Indiana’s defense picked up the pace of play and didn’t allow Michigan State a shot until the final minutes of the half. Second-year midfielder Sydney Meltzer attempted four back-to-back penalty corners through the 26th and 27th minutes of play. In her attempts for the Hoosiers, first-year midfielder Gabriela Garayo Aranceta and second-year forward/midfielder Molly Stutte both attempted shots that were blocked.

After the break, Meltzer got another attempt at a penalty corner. In the attack, second-year back Lily Freeman notched a shot that was blocked by the Spartan goalie. Despite two more attempts in the circle by the Hoosiers, it was a 0-0 game as the final quarter began. The zero on the scoresheet wouldn’t last much longer for Indiana, as Freeman notched one into the cage off a penalty corner attempt to give IU the 1-0 advantage. As play continued, Michigan State was unable to find an opportunity to equalize which gave Indiana the victory.

Indiana went for nine total penalty corners throughout the match. The 7-3 record is the best start through 10 games since 2014, which also was a 7-3 start. The Hoosiers also continue to be undefeated in conference play. Indiana held Michigan State to no shots in the third quarter. The Hoosiers totaled 12 shots throughout the contest, with Freeman and Stutte both leading with three each. Garayo Aranceta added two. Second-year forward Celia Arroyo Cabezudo, fourth-year midfielder Inés Garcia Prado and fourth-year forward/midfielder Theresa Ricci each added one of their own. IU continues the weekend with a trip to Columbus, Ohio for another conference matchup against Ohio State at noon at Buckeye Varsity Field. The game can be followed along via live stats and B1G+.

Indiana University Women’s Volleyball Travels to Rutgers A grueling month of travel in October continues as the Indiana volleyball team (9-3, 2-1 B1G) makes the trip east to New Jersey to face Rutgers on Sunday this afternoon. Following a tough five-set loss at No. 6 Wisconsin on Thursday evening, the Hoosiers stayed on the road and flew out to Piscataway on Friday to prep for the next match on the schedule. Despite falling short of the best reverse sweep in program history, IU proved it could play with anyone in the country as it pushed the Badgers to the brink. Fifth-year opposite hitter Avry Tatum and second-year outside hitter Jaidyn Jager, former high school teammates, shared the team lead with 16 kills apiece. First-year outside hitter Sara Snowbarger had a career high 11 kills in support.

Second-year setter Teodora Krickovic is the player that stirs the pot. When the Hoosiers pass well, she has the ability to set one of the fastest offenses in the country. Since the season opener, IU is hitting at a .278 clip as a team. On five different occasions, the Hoosiers have hit .300 or better in a single match.
The ability to diversify multiple looks offensively has been a catalyst in IU’s fast start in 2026. Eight different players have produced at least seven kills in a match this year. That includes the setter Krickovic who had seven kills in a win over No. 12 Texas A&M earlier in the year. Jager (169) and third-year middle blocker Ella Boersema (124) each have over 100 kills this season. IU will look to pick up its 10th win of the year and the third in Big Ten play this afternoon at Rutgers. Jason Knapp (PxP) and Allie Sczech (Color) will have the call in front of a national audience on the Big Ten Network. First serve is set for 2 p.m. from Jersey Mike’s Arena in Piscataway.

Indiana University Men’s Soccer Star Oliver Moller-Jensen Features in Hermann Trophy Watch List Indiana men’s soccer leading scorer Oliver Moller-Jensen is a candidate for college soccer’s top individual award. United Soccer Coaches announced its 2026 MAC Hermann Trophy Midseason Watch List, featuring 29 players, on Friday. The Hermann Trophy is presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club and is the nation’s highest individual honor recognizing the National Player of the Year as determined by voting of Division I head coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches. Moller-Jensen’s seven goals and 16 points lead the unbeaten, No. 2-ranked Hoosiers through 10 matches.

Urban Meyer says Indiana University Football has best Wide Receiver blocking he’s seen in a decade It ain’t sexy, but Hall of Fame coach Urban Meyer believes high-level wide receiver blocking can double a team’s rushing yards. “There’s not a receiver out there who says, ‘Man, I can’t wait to go block,’” Meyer said on his Urban Analysis segment this week on the Big Ten Network. “But it’s one of those skills that you need on your team and once they realize the value of it, it becomes very important. Say you have a good day rushing for 200 yards. Half of that yardage is a result of the receivers blocking.”

Like Indiana coach Curt Cignetti, Meyer was a college receivers coach before he became a head coach. He understands the art of receiver blocking as well as anyone. And Meyer believes this particular edition of IU football — led by Nick Marsh, Shazz Preston, Charlie Becker, Tyler Morris and Davion Chandler — is elite. “They’re the best group of receivers blocking I’ve seen in at least a decade,” Meyer said. Cignetti was asked earlier this week if his transfer receivers Marsh and Preston arrived on campus with the ability and mindset to block. “No, no. That’s something we emphasize,” Cignetti said. “(Offensive coordinator) Mike (Shanahan) does and me being an ex-receiver coach at Alabama where all we did was block when I was there, you know, I kind of drive that point home hard to the receivers as we get close to game day. “I give them credit, they’ve responded.”

There’s a mantra within the IU receiver room — no block, no rock. So, it only makes sense Marsh’s production as a receiver has picked over the last two weeks (12 catches, 133 yards) as he’s become a more effective blocker within the offense. At 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds, Marsh can be physically imposing. Indiana has asked him to learn all of the receiver positions in the offense, and with that, all of the blocking nuances that come with each spot. Marsh, who just turned 20 this week, is taking it to heart. “My job is to do the best I can for my teammates, and downfield blocking is one of the things I’m good at,” he said Saturday following the win over Northwestern. “So I’m really trying to elevate that in my game and build that into my character.”

Tickets quickly sell out for NBA Cup championship at Hinkle Fieldhouse Tickets went on sale Thursday for the NBA Cup championship game at Hinkle Fieldhouse – and quickly sold out. The title game is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 11 and will feature a team from each conference as the culmination of the league’s in-season tournament. Teams play a round-robin tournament against the four other teams in their group, with the top teams from group play — the winner of each of the three groups, plus the remaining team that finished with the best record, in each conference — advancing to the quarterfinal bracket.

The Indiana Pacers are in a group with the defending NBA champion New York Knicks, along with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Philadelphia 76ers and the Miami Heat. The Pacers will host the Knicks and 76ers, while playing on the road in Cleveland and Miami. The quarterfinal games will be played Dec. 4-5 and the semifinals on Dec. 8-9 leading up to the Emirates NBA Cup Championship on Dec. 11. Tickets for the championship game were available at NBAEvents.com, with ticket pages starting at around $250. In an update Friday, a league spokesperson told the South-Central Indiana News Network that tickets sold out in less than two hours. “Fans can still secure premium access and exclusive hospitality via NBAExperiences.com,” the spokesperson said.

“Hinkle Fieldhouse offers a special setting to capture the excitement and drama of the Emirates NBA Cup Championship,” NBA Head of Global Events Kelly Flatow said. “Playing the championship in an iconic basketball environment like this will further establish it as a signature moment on the NBA calendar.” The Pacers reached the championship in the inaugural in-season tournament in 2023, falling to the Los Angeles Lakers, 123-109.

Indianapolis Colts and the Washington Commanders try to build on Week 3 wins when they face each other in London Last November, the Indianapolis Colts went to Europe and came home with an 8-2 record. They’d beaten Atlanta in Berlin and seemed on a glide path to some sort of postseason berth. It turned out to be their last victory of the season. Before too long, quarterback Daniel Jones was hurt, and the bottom fell out during a seven-game skid. Now another international game is on Indy’s schedule — this time in London against the Washington Commanders this morning at 9:30 AM. “I think we try to keep these guys on a normal schedule,” Colts coach Shane Steichen said earlier this week. “So get the rest on the plane during the red-eye flight right there, and then we have a walkthrough Friday practice there. Don’t want to get out on the field right away, going on a long trip like that, and run those guys — because I’ve been a part of that where guys have stepped on the field Friday and gotten hamstrings.”

Both teams should be familiar with the challenges of playing overseas. Washington went to Spain last season and lost to Miami. Quarterback Jayden Daniels missed that game and was replaced by Marcus Mariota. The same could happen this year in London, but Daniels has been able to practice after missing last weekend’s win over Seattle because of a dislocated elbow. “Just taking it day by day,” he said Thursday, offering few hints about his likelihood of playing. Both teams should feel as if they can take advantage of this matchup. The Colts (1-2) had to open the season with games against Baltimore, Kansas City and Houston. They took the Chiefs to overtime and then beat the Texans. Only one of their next five games is at home, however, so this neutral site matchup feels pivotal.

Washington (1-2) appeared to be in a dire situation when Daniels went down in Week 2, but Mariota led the Commanders to a victory over Seattle in their home opener last weekend. With Daniels on the mend and the Colts and New York Giants up next on the schedule, there’s reason for newfound hope. “Obviously Marcus means a lot. Grew up, and he hates when I say this, but grew up a fan of Marcus, obviously at Oregon and in Tennessee and stuff like that,” Daniels said. “But just being around him, just the type of person he is and how much he shows that he cares about me and wants me to be at my best and anything I need, he’s really out there for me.”

Indianapolis Colts lead the series 21-11. Indianapolis Colts Running Back Jonathan Taylor vs. the Washington defensive front. Taylor had one of the greatest international performances in league history last season, rushing for 244 yards and three touchdowns, including the game winner in overtime, as Indianapolis beat Atlanta 31-25. The Commanders did a solid job against the Seattle backfield last week. If Daniel Jones and Marcus Mariota start, they’d become the seventh and eighth quarterbacks to start an international game in back-to-back seasons in different markets. The others are Matthew Stafford (London 2025, Australia 2026), Aaron Rodgers (London 2024, Ireland 2025), Philip Rivers (London 2018, Mexico 2019), Derek Carr (Mexico 2017, London 2018), Matt Ryan (Canada 2013, London 2014) and Jay Cutler (Canada 2010, London 2011).

The Colts have 15 penalties, tied for the fewest in the NFL so far. Indianapolis has gone 30 consecutive games without a red zone giveaway, the longest active streak in the league. Indy’s Keenan Allen needs two catches to tie former Colt’s star Reggie Wayne (1,070) for 11th on the career list. The Commanders were the first 0-2 team to defeat the defending Super Bowl champions in Week 3 since 1980, when the Bengals beat the Steelers. Washington rookie linebacker Sonny Styles was the NFC defensive player of the week after he had five tackles, two passes defensed and an interception against Seattle. He’s Washington’s first rookie LB to win the award since Brian Orakpo in Week 14 of 2009.

15 Indiana Pacers games to air on FOX59/CBS4 Television in Indianapolis this season FOX59/CBS4 will air 15 Indiana Pacers games this season as part of an exclusive local television partnership with DAZN.
