Judge Kara Krothe determined the NCAA is not likely to win on appeal and denied the organization’s request for emergency stay of the preliminary injunction granted in a Monroe County Court. The NCAA has successfully obtained stays of injunctions in some instances, but Krothe ruled the NCAA has not shown it will suffer irreparable harm if the preliminary injunction stands. Daley, Wyatt, Alexis and their fellow plaintiffs have sued the NCAA after the organization did not include class of 2022 athletes in its new five-year eligibility rule. They were granted a preliminary injunction to compete during the 2026-27 athletic year until their case could be heard.

One of the NCAA’s core arguments has been allowing class of 2022 athletes to play a fifth season will take roster spots away from other athletes. But Krothe says the NCAA has created that very same issue in 2027-28 with its new 5-year eligibility rule. “The NCAA’s argument also ignores the roster crunch it created for the 2027-28 academic year by granting all athletes currently in school (other than those who redshirted) another season of competition,” Krothe wrote in her ruling. The NCAA has appealed the injunction, and it has also filed an emergency motion to stay the injunction with the appellate court. A stay would deem Daley, Wyatt and Alexis ineligible until the appeal is heard. The student-athletes have until Oct. 8 to respond to that emergency motion. It is not clear how soon any ruling will come out of the appeals court. Indiana football returns to action Saturday at Noon ET at Nebraska.

Indiana’s Hi’ilani Williams Named Big Ten Women’s Tennis Player of the Week Second year Hi’ilani Williams has been named the Big Ten Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, announced by the league office on Wednesday (Oct. 6). She earned the honor for the second-consecutive season after winning Flight 1 of the 2026 Hoosier Classic last weekend. Colts head coach Shane Steichen was 2-0 in his first two games against the Steelers in Indianapolis, but the Colts lost on the road to the Steelers last season. Historically, the Colts have struggled against the Steelers. They have an 8-28 record against Pittsburgh and have not beaten the Steelers on the road since 2008. “We know it’s a big one,” Steichen said. “I told the guys it’s always a big one because it’s the next one and we’re going into a hostile environment and we know it’s going to be a physical football game for four quarters. Members of NSC each completed an individual ballot based on data such as ranking percentage index (RPI), area rating committee standings (ARC), overall record, strength of schedule (SOS), and conference record. The same data being used come November when the selection committee is determining at-large teams and seeding the national championship field. The Trojans toppled Mount Vernon Nazarene, Marian, Bethel and Huntington in their past five contests. Currently TU sports a four-match winning streak and an 11-set unbeaten run.

An efficient and effective offense places in the top-11 in the NAIA in kills and points per set and hitting percentage despite key players missing time throughout the season already. Margo Hernandez has been terrific setting up the offense for success at the setter position, earning four CL Setter-of-the-Week awards already this season. The service line has been incredible, posting 1.94 aces per set, which is the program’s highest mark in a season in over two decades. Emily Livengood has led the Trojans with 0.48 aces per set and 40 in her debut season in Purple and Grey. Adding to the impressiveness is the low number of errors resulting in TU being top ten in the margin of aces over errors this year.
