The #7 Indiana Hoosiers trailed 17-6 with 12:01 left in the fourth quarter and came back to beat the Nebraska Cornhuskers 20-17 a Sold-Out Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska Saturday Afternoon. The Hoosiers extend the longest win streak in the FBS to 22 games and improve to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the Big Ten with another huge test coming next Saturday at Noon against the #5 Ohio State Buckeyes on Merchants Bank Field at Memorial Stadium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nebraska is 5-1 and 2-1 in the Big Ten and has lost 31 straight games against ranked opponents. Indiana has won two in a row against the Cornhuskers and leads the all-time series 11-9-3. Curt Cignetti is 33-2 overall and 20-1 in the Big Ten in his third season with the Hoosiers and 152-37 as a head coach. Cignetti is now tied with James Horne and Tom Allen for fifth on the all-time wins list at Indiana. The Hoosiers are now second in the Big Ten with the longest winning streak since Ohio State won 23 in a row from 2013-14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Indiana is the first team in the FBS to extend a winning streak to 20+ games by overcoming a double deficit in the 4th<\/sup> quarter since Texas beat USC in the 2006 Rose Bowl. The Hoosiers are 2-120 when trailing by double digits when entering the fourth quarter. Indiana trailed 10-3 at halftime and 3 points were tied for the lowest in the first half, 111 total yards which was second fewest in a first half, a negative 101-yard differential and three first downs which is the fewest in a first half all under Curt Cignetti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Nebraska Quarterback Anthony Colandrea scored on a 39-yard touchdown run with 12:01 left in the fourth quarter with Nebraska leading 17-6. The next play Josh Hoover found Nick Marsh on a 75-yard strike with 11:51 left in the game trailing 20-13. Nebraska punted the ball away with 9:24 left in the ball game and the Hoosiers struck again to take the lead with 7:13 left when Hoover found Marsh for the second time on a 44-yard pass play and Indiana held Nebraska three times to come away with the win in Curt Cignetti\u2019s first ever trip to the State of Nebraska.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tobi Osunamani sacked Colandrea on fourth down and eleven yards to go and Indiana got the ball back with 1:15 left in the game. The Hoosiers did punt the ball away with 13 seconds left as the Hoosiers escaped Lincoln with a three-point win. Indiana trailed 10-3 at the end of the first quarter and was the first time since Michigan State on November 2, 2024, at the Hoosiers allowed 10 points in a first quarter which ended a streak of 26 games. The Hoosiers were one of three teams along with Georgia and North Dakota State who had not trailed all season entering today\u2019s game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Hoosiers are now tied with the 2008-09 Florida Gators Teams who have won 22 straight games allowing 24 or fewer points. Nebraska outgained Indiana 391-328 as both Josh Hoover and Anthony Colranndrea finished with 263 passing yards. Hoover was 12-22 with 2 touchdown passes and no interceptions and Colandrea finished 25-43 with an interception. Nebraska had 128 rushing yards to 65 for Indiana and Cornhuskers had 25 first downs to 13 for Indiana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Nico Radicic had two field goals for the Hoosiers as they had to fight their way from being behind most of the game to coming back in a tough road environment to beat a Nebraska team who will travel to Oregon next Saturday. The Hoosiers continue to find ways to win and now its Ohio State next week at home with all eyes on that game to see if the Hoosiers can beat the Buckeyes after holding on in the Big Ten Championship game last December at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis or can Ohio State come into to Bloomington like they have done many times before and beat the Hoosiers and end their 22 game winning streak and give Curt Cignetti is first home loss in Bloomington.
