She did so with a 41-assist effort in the contest at Michigan. The landmark assist came on a set to second year outside hitter Jaidyn Jager in Saturday’s match. Since arriving on campus last season, the young Serbian setter has been nothing short of sensational. She was the AVCA Midwest Region Freshman of the Year in 2025 after posting 1,212 assists, 201 digs, 54 kills and 38 aces. On top of that, she earned First Team All-Big Ten honors and an AVCA Honorable Mention All-American nod. In her collegiate career, she is averaging 10.59 assists per set.

As it stands, Krickovic has set the Hoosiers to their two best single-season team hitting percentages in program history. Last year’s .281 mark obliterated the previous school record. This year, IU is hitting .259 and is on its way to making the NCAA Tournament for the second-straight year. In addition to her 2,023 career assists, she also has 349 digs, 114 kills and 71 aces in her time in Bloomington. She will continue to climb up the career ranks as IU pushes toward the postseason this fall. The Hoosiers will finish the regular season with four of their final five games at Wilkinson Hall. That begins with a contest against Iowa on Friday (Nov. 6) evening in Bloomington.

Indiana Hoosiers Men’s Tennis Wrap Up Big Ten Individual Championships The Indiana men’s tennis team wrapped up competition at the Big Ten Individual Championships at the Varsity Tennis Center up in Ann Arbor this weekend, earning six singles victories and three doubles wins. Even while racking up a match best 12 blocks, IU struggled to slow down Michigan’s attack. Outside hitter Ella Demetrician went for 20 kills as the team hit .358 on the night. She was one of four players in double figures. Each of Michigan’s setters provided 27 assists in the win.

IU had windows in each of the first two sets to take an early lead but couldn’t find points down the stretch. After taking a 23-21 lead in set one, Michigan rattled off four-straight points to completely flip the momentum. IU’s offense grinded to a .235 hitting percentage behind 13 kills from fifth-year opposite hitter Avry Tatum. Second-year outside hitter Jaidyn Jager and fifth-year middle blocker Kiki Granberry each had 10 kills. Second-year setter Teodora Krickovic dished out 41 assists in the proceedings. She picked up her fifth double-double of the season with a team best 10 digs. In the process, the Serbian surpassed 2,000 career assists. She is the 12th IU player in program history to reach that mark and the third under head coach Steve Aird (Last: Camryn Haworth – 2021-24). After playing seven games away from Bloomington in October, IU will get the chance to return home for four of its last five games in the regular season. Wilkinson Hall will host the Hoosiers for a pair of games against Iowa (Nov. 6) and Illinois (Nov. 8) next weekend as the home stretch hits in the Big Ten campaign.

Offense was the name of the game for Michigan on Saturday evening. IU had little answer for Michigan’s potent attack. The home team hit .358 and provided 71 kills in just four sets. The Hoosiers had just 51 kills in comparison despite hitting .455 (17-2-33) in the third set. After winning most of the long rallies last night, IU couldn’t close the deal on a number of points against Michigan. The Wolverines had a massive advantage in digs (53-36), leading to several big transition opportunities. Michigan took the lead in set four and never trailed to finish off the match.

Second-year setter Teodora Krickovic provided 41 assists in Saturday’s contest. She surpassed 2,000 career assists with her effort against the Wolverines, becoming the 12th player in program history to hit that mark. The young Serbian is the fastest player at IU in the rally-scoring era to reach 2,000 career assists and the first setter since former All-American Camryn Haworth to hit the threshold. Fifth-year middle blocker Kiki Granberry put up 10 kills on a .316 hitting efficiency, her second-straight game in double figures. She added five blocks in the match. It’s the 13th double-digit kill match of her career and the first time she’s ever had consecutive 10-kill matches in conference play as a collegiate player.

Even on a night where Michigan’s offense ran at a high level, IU was competitive in the serve receive game. IU went the whole match without conceding an ace, just one night after Michigan State put 12 on the board. It’s the first time that IU hasn’t been aced in a conference contest since 2023 (0 – vs. Iowa)• IU’s block has been a big revelation during Big Ten play this season. For the seventh time in 12 conference contests, the Hoosiers racked up double-digit blocks as a team. It’s the fifth time in the last six contests that IU has had 10-or-more rejections. Granberry is averaging 1.31 blocks per set (85 total) for IU this season.

Notre Dame beats Villanova 74-72 in men’s college basketball season opener in Rome Brady Koehler scored key baskets down the stretch and Notre Dame made a late comeback after trailing for most of the second half to beat Villanova 74-72 in the college basketball season opener in Rome on Sunday. Villanova standout Tyler Perkins fouled out with 16.3 seconds to go. He led the Wildcats with 18 points. The event — dubbed the Eternal City Tip-Off — included an audience with Villanova alumnus Pope Leo XIV for both teams and their fans on Saturday. Both teams are unranked in the preseason AP Top 25. Koehler and Braeden Smith led Notre Dame, which has 10 new players, with 16 points each. Koehler’s dunk cut Villanova’s lead to one point with 1:36 remaining and Logan Duncomb hit a 3-pointer with 1:08 to go to give Notre Dame its first lead of the second half, 70-68. Koehler sank two free throws to put the Fighting Irish up 74-70 with 4 seconds remaining and essentially seal it.

Villanova is looking for a revival after four years without winning a game at the NCAA Tournament: A three-year absence followed the sudden retirement of Hall of Fame coach Jay Wright and then the Wildcats had a first-round loss to Utah State last season. Luigi Suigo, the 7-foot-3 Italian making his Villanova debut on home soil, had two dunks and showed his range with a 3-pointer to finish with seven points. When he scored, the arena announcer yelled, “Su-su-su Suigo.” The nonconference game between the two Catholic universities was played at the 11,000-seat Palazzo dello Sport, which is located about a half-hour drive from the Vatican. Villanova had many more fans in attendance. Notre Dame faces another Catholic school in its home opener against Mercyhurst on Thursday. Villanova faces two more Catholic schools in its next two games: The Wildcats play Holy Cross in their home opener on Friday and then meet La Salle four days later.

Hannah Hidalgo scores 32 as No. 13 Notre Dame beats Villanova 99-75 in women’s hoops opener in Rome A leaping steal. Another jump to save it. And much, much more from Hannah Hidalgo. The Notre Dame senior showed why she’s a preseason All-American in the opening game of the women’s college basketball season on Sunday in Rome. Hidalgo had 32 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and three steals as the No. 13 Fighting Irish beat Villanova 99-75. Notre Dame also won the men’s game at the Eternal City Tip-Off, which included an audience with Villanova alumnus Pope Leo XIV for both teams and their fans on Saturday.

In the first half, Hidalgo leaped up like an NFL safety to intercept a Villanova pass and then had to jump again out of bounds to save it before completing the turnover by passing to a teammate. Sophomore Leah Macy had 27 points in her Notre Dame debut after missing her freshman year because of a knee injury suffered in high school. Jasmin Bascoe led Villanova with 26 points but was 1 for 7 from 3-point range. Notre Dame hosts Stone Hill for its season opener on Friday. Villanova visits Princeton on Nov. 10.

Offensive struggles doom Purdue in 31-17 loss to Penn State Cam Wallace ran for 135 yards with a touchdown, and Penn State beat Purdue 31-17 on Saturday for its first Big Ten win of the Matt Campbell era. Rocco Becht and Carson Hansen ran for scores, and Becht threw a touchdown to Andrew Rappleyea for the Nittany Lions (4-4, 1-4 Big Ten), who snapped a four-game losing streak with their 12th straight win in the series. Penn State took advantage of a leaky Purdue defense that ranked 119th in the country entering the game. The Nittany Lions, which hadn’t eclipsed 100 yards rushing since registering 119 in their Big Ten opening loss to Wisconsin, racked up 269 yards on the ground with 5.3 yards per carry against the Boilermakers.

Rappleyea capped Penn State’s opening drive after hauling in a short touchdown pass from Becht. A 48-yard burst from Wallace on Penn State’s next possession set Becht up to scamper around Purdue’s defense for a six-yard score that put Penn State up 14-7. The Boilermakers (3-5, 2-3), looking for their first win against Penn State since 2004, answered the Nittany Lions’ opening points with quarterback Ryan Browne’s 33-yard touchdown pass to Xavier Townshend.

Jalil Hall tied it at 14-14 when he returned a blocked punt 31 yards toward Penn State’s Halloween-decorated student section with 8:52 left in the first half. The Boilermakers, though, couldn’t get another stop, and Penn State’s offense drove 65 yards before Hansen burst over the goal line from a yard out to make it 21-14 heading into halftime. Penn State’s defense took control in the third quarter when Jamison Patton intercepted Browne at midfield. Barker turned it into a 44-yard field goal and a 24-14 lead late in the third. Wallace kept his legs churning on Penn State’s next possession to help seal the game. He racked up 40 of the offense’s 85 yards and made it 31-14 with just under 10 minutes to play. Jacobo Echeverria Lozano hit a 49-yard field goal to cut the lead to 31-17, but Purdue wouldn’t come any closer as the Penn State reserves closed out the game.

The Boilermakers couldn’t run the ball and couldn’t really throw it either. They didn’t get many opportunities to tweak their game plan early as Penn State ran 20 more first-half plays and possessed the ball for 22:05 to Purdue’s 7:55 over the first two quarters. The Nittany Lions, who entered the game with the Big Ten’s 13th-ranked offense, needed a confidence booster. They’ve played without star wideout Koby Howard since Big Ten play started and were also without current leading receiver Chase Sowell for this one. It didn’t matter, as offensive coordinator Taylor Mouser turned to the running game where Wallace broke out.
