Indiana Men\u2019s Basketball Host Northern Illinois This Evening<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana Men\u2019s Basketball is back in action at 7 PM this evening when they host the Northern Illinois Huskies for the first ever meeting between the two teams at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. The game is on Big Ten Network Plus which is the online streaming service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana is coming off a 68-62 win against Eastern Michigan Tuesday night in the debut for 1st<\/sup> year head coach Mike Woodson. Trayce Jackson Davis scored 21 points and pulled down 14 rebounds, Xavier Johnson scored 14 points and Race Thompson pulled down 10 rebounds. The Hoosiers led 36-19 at halftime and had to hold of 43-32 2nd<\/sup> half run by Eastern Michigan to hold off the Eagles. Indiana shot 4-24 from three-point range and 12 for 20 from the free throw line. The Hoosiers had 9 players see action Tuesday night. Khristian Lander, Anthony Leal, Logan Duncomb and Michael Durr did not play and neither did the four walk ons that are on the roster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Northern Illinois is 1-0 on the season after a 71-64 win Tuesday Night at the University Of Washington. Trendon Hankerson 6-2 Senior Guard from Novi Michigan led the way with 28 points, Anthony Crump 6-8 guard from Inkster Michigan had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Northern Illinois hit 12 three pointers blocked 14 shots and were 17-25 from the foul line. 1st<\/sup> Year head Coach Rashon Bruno played at DePaul University in Chicago from 1998-2002 and led the Blue Demons to the 2002 NCAA Tournament. Burno was an assistant coach at Towson, Manhattan, Florida and Arizona State before being named head coach at Northern Illinois on March 6th<\/sup>, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This will be the 2nd<\/sup> Mid-American Conference team the Hoosiers have faced this season. Indiana is in the middle of a six game homestand to start the season before traveling to Syracuse for the road trip of the season on November 30th<\/sup>.  Northern Illinois Assistant Coach Drew Gladstone returns to Indiana after spending the last four years on the Indiana Coaching Staff. Gladstone was the team and recruitment analyst under former head coach Archie Miller for the last two seasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coach Mike Woodson received three Signed National Letters of Intent for the 2022 recruiting class with Kaleb Banks from Fayetteville Georgia, CJ Gunn from Lawrence North High School Indianapolis and Jalen Hood-Schifino from Charlotte North Carolina who plays for Montverde Academy in Florida.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A five-star recruit who plays for prestigious Montverde Academy in Montverde, Fla. for coach Kevin Boyle\u2026 team won the 2021 Geico High School National Title\u2026 five of his teammates also are signing Division I letters of intent\u2026 played for coach Norton Hurd IV and Team Thad, an AAU program founded by NBA player Thaddeus Young, in the off-season\u2026 son of Adrianne “Angel” Hood-Schifino. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

8th<\/sup> Ranked Indiana Women\u2019s Basketball Host 13th<\/sup> Ranked Kentucky Sunday<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 8th<\/sup> Indiana Hoosiers will face the 13th<\/sup> ranked Kentucky Wildcats on Sunday evening at 5 PM at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in front of nationally televised audience on ESPN.  The Hoosiers are 7th<\/sup> in the coaches poll are coming off an 86-63 win at Butler Tuesday Night. Nicole Cardano-Hillary scored 29 points and hit seven three pointers in her best game as Indiana Hoosier since she transferred from George Mason after 2019-2020 season.  Louisville native Grace Berger scored 18 points and became the 29th<\/sup> member of the schools 1,000 point club, Mackenzie Holmes had 12 points and Kiandra Browne had 10 points off the bench. Ali Patberg dished out 10 assists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kentucky is 2-0 with wins over Presbyterian 81-53 and North Alabama 98-56 at home. The Wildcats put four players in double figures Tuesday Night with Dre\u2019una Edwards leading the way with 20 points and Preseason All American Rhyne Howard scored 15 points. On Thursday Night the Wildcats put 4 in double figures with Edwards scoring 27 points and Howard scoring 20 points and pulling down 10 rebounds.  Howard has started 84 of 85 games and has scored 1,690 career points. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kentucky beat Indiana 72-68 on December 6th<\/sup>, 2020 in Memorial Coliseum in Lexington. Rhyne Howard scored 20 points in game in which Indiana led 36-23 at halftime and the Wildcats outscored the Hoosiers 49-22 in the 2nd<\/sup> half. Kentucky turned it on the 4th<\/sup> quarter last year outscoring the Hoosiers 28-14 to complete the comeback.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana Football Looking for First Big Ten Win Hosting Rutgers Tomorrow<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana is looking to snap a 5-game losing streak when the Host the Rutgers Scarlet Knights for a noon kickoff in Memorial Stadium. The game will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network and the Big Ten Network tailgate show will be doing a 2 hour live pregame show outside the stadium from 10 AM-12 PM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hoosiers are 2-7 and 0-5 in the Big Ten and looking to turn things around with three games left in the season.  Rutgers will come in 4-5 and 1-5 in the Big Ten. This will be the 8th<\/sup> meeting in the series with Indiana winning the last 5 meetings dating back to 2016. Indiana beat Rutgers 37-21 on Halloween last season in New Jersey. Rutgers joined the Big Ten in 2014 and won the first meeting November 15th<\/sup>, 2014 45-23 in Piscataway and 55-52 overtime thriller in Bloomington on October 17th<\/sup>, 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rutgers Head Coach Greg Schiano is back for his 2nd<\/sup> stint with the Scarlet Knights. Since returning to Rutgers he is 7-11 and was 68-67 from 2001-11. Schiano left the school to coach the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2012-13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana has been battling through injuries for the entire season. Starting quarterback Michael Penix Jr and backup quarterback Jack Tuttle have returned to practice this week after they were knocked out of action for the last couple of games. True Freshman Donaven McCulley has started the last two games against Michigan State and Michigan. Tight End Peyton Hendershot has 14 touchdowns on the season and one more and he will tie Ted Bosler\u2019s record 15 touchdown which most for a Tight End in Indiana School History. Hendershot broke Bolser\u2019s record for most receptions and yardage by a Tight End.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Micah McFadden has been the team leader on defense. The Tampa Florida native leads the big Ten and 3rd<\/sup> nationally with 15 tackles for loss and has a 14-game consecutive streak with at least on tackle for loss. Head Coach Tom Allen is 26-29 in his 5th<\/sup> season as Indiana Head Coach.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bloomington South Football Travels to New Albany for Regional Championship Game<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bloomington South Panthers will be looking for the school\u2019s 12th<\/sup> Regional Championship when they Travel to New Albany to face the Bulldogs in the Class 5A Football Regional Championship Game at 7 PM this evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Panthers are 8-2 on the season and take a 2-game winning streak into tonight\u2019s game after losing the final two regular season games at Columbus North and Indianapolis Chatard. Bloomington South beat crosstown rival Bloomington North 24-17 to win their first sectional title since 2019 and 15th<\/sup> overall. Bloomington South is averaging 27.1 points per game and giving up 19.4 on defense. Gabe Johnson is 12-6 in his second season and 26-16 overall and has won 2 sectional championships with the first coming in 2011 as head coach of Triton Central.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Albany is 8-3 on the season after starting the season 0-2 and have a five-game winning streak coming into tonight\u2019s game. The Bulldogs average 35.6 per game and give up 30.7 on defense. Two of the three losses come to Bloomington South 50-20 in Bloomington on August 20th<\/sup> and Bloomington North 69-45 at home on September 24th<\/sup>. Steve Cooley is in his 5th<\/sup> year at New Albany and has 28-22 record. Cooley is 150-137 in 27 seasons overall with stops at Harding, Jeffersonville and Clarksville. Cooley won his 3rd<\/sup> sectional championship he won at Harding in 1995 and Jeffersonville in 2007. New Albany beat Seymour 34-27 to win the schools 3rd<\/sup> Sectional Championship with the other two coming in 1984 and 2002 and are looking for the school\u2019s first ever Regional Championship.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Winner of this game will face the winner of the New Palestine-Indianapolis Cathedral next Friday Night in the Semi State. In Class 3A Tri West travels to Owen Valley for a 7 PM Kickoff this evening. The Patriots are 10-1 and won just their 2nd<\/sup> sectional championship and first since 1992 with 14-0 win at Vincennes Lincoln. Tri West is 10-2 on the season and beat Danville 18-13 for the Sectional Championship last Friday. Tri West has won 13 Sectional Championships and the first since 2018. The Bruins are going for their 10th<\/sup> Regional Championship and first since 2014.
