Indiana Women\u2019s Basketball Cruises to 91-58 win over Fairfield \u00a0<\/strong>
Indiana Women\u2019s Basketball cruised to a 91-58 win over Fairfield in Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall Thursday Night. The Hoosiers are 7-2 and 1-0 in the Big Ten and travel to Ohio State 7-1 and 1-0 in the Big Ten Sunday night at 7pm with a matchup with the Buckeyes on the Big Ten Network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana was led in scoring by Mackenzie Holmes with 23 points, Aleska Gulbe with 21 points and 9 rebounds, and Grace Berger added 19 points. The Hoosiers got 15 points off the bench tonight which was in improvement over the last few games. Indiana shot 33-54 from the field for 61 percent, 4-12 from three-point range for 33 percent and 21-27 from the free throw line for 77 percent. The Hoosiers dominated inside with 48 points in the paint and the Stags could not stop Holmes on the low block. \u00a0Indiana pulled down 44 rebounds, 11 assists, 7 blocks, and 6 steals, yet committed 19 turnovers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fairfield falls to 3-5 on the season and was led by Sydney Lowery with 16 points and leading scorer Lou Lopez-Sencechal added 15 points. Fairfield shot 21-56 from the field for 37 percent, 2-9 from three-point range for 22 percent and 14-20 for 70 percent from the free throw line. The Stags pulled down 19 rebounds, 8 assists, 8 steals, 2 blocks and committed 12 turnovers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana controlled the game after the first quarter in which they led 22-8 and built the lead to 51-29 at halftime. The Hoosiers and Stags are tied 1-1 in the all-time series. Fairfield won the first meeting back on December 29, 1984 in Miami Florida 89-85.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana Men\u2019s Basketball Looks to Bounce Back Sunday Hosting Merrimack<\/strong>
Indiana Men\u2019s Basketball look hook to bounce back Sunday at Noon when they host the Merrimack Warriors inside Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. The Hoosiers 7-2 lost to Wisconsin 64-59 Wednesday Night in which they blew a 22-point lead and have now lost 19 in Madison with the last win coming there in 1998.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trayce Jackson Davis is averaging 19.2 points per game, Xavier Johnson 10.3 points and Race Thompson 10.2 points. The Hoosiers lead by 17 at halftime Wednesday night and then collapsed in the 2nd<\/sup> half with poor shooting, rebounding and going one on one instead of working together on offense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Merrimack is in the Northeast Conference and the Warriors will be making a cross country trip where they played at Gonzaga Thursday night which is in Spokane Washington to Bloomington. Jordan Minor is the teams leading scorer at 14.1 points a ball game. This will be the first meeting between the two teams. Merrimack is located in North Andover Massachusetts.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Edgewood Girls Basketball Stays Unbeaten<\/strong>
Edgewood Girls Basketball beat South Vermillion 45-25 to improve to 10-0 on the season while the Wildcats fall to 1-7. Edgewood led 20-5 at halftime and the Mustangs have held teams to less than 30 points 4 times this season. Edgewood host Shakamak tomorrow at 12:30 PM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Center Grove beat Bloomington South 48-33. Carlie Pedersen scored all 9 of her points in the fourth quarter to lead the Panthers. Caitlin Helm scored 8 points and 6 rebounds. Bloomington South is 1-7 on the season and travels to Evansville North tomorrow at Noon<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana Fever Announce 2022 Regular Season Schedule<\/strong>
The Indiana Fever announced Thursday the 2022 regular season will tip off on the road on Friday, May 6 against the Washington Mystics. On Sunday, May 8, the Fever returns for its first regular season home game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse with a 3 p.m. tip against the Los Angeles Sparks.\u00a0The WNBA\u2019s regular-season schedule will increase to an all-time high 36 games per team in 2022, with each team playing 18 home games and 18 road games.

With ongoing construction as part of the ‘Fieldhouse of the Future’ renovations, the Fever\u2019s first five regular season home games will be played at the Fieldhouse. The next nine home games will be played at Indiana Farmers Coliseum, located at the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center and the final four regular season home games played at Butler University\u2019s Hinkle Fieldhouse. Ticket information for all Fever home games at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Indiana Farmers Coliseum and Hinkle Fieldhouse will be announced at a later date.

“We are excited to return to Gainbridge Fieldhouse, which is unequivocally the greatest arena in the WNBA, while also looking forward to fans traveling with us throughout Indianapolis for games this season. Playing again at Indiana Farmers Coliseum and at the historic Hinkle Fieldhouse will only enhance Fever fandom in Marion County,” Fever President Dr. Allison Barber said in Press Release. “Through our streaming capabilities, we remain committed to growing Fever fans in all 92 counties in Indiana.”

The Fever will continue to livestream games at no cost for fans statewide\u202fat FeverBasketball.com and on the Indiana Fever\u2019s Facebook page. This year’s streaming services will continue in Ohio and Kentucky for the second straight year.\u00a0Expected preseason games will also be announced at a later date.
