What started as 2:30am routine traffic stop, quickly escalated, when the citing Officer recognized a gun in the vehicle along with suspected narcotics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Arresting Officers found the Fentanyl, 2 guns, and a large sum of cash in the Black Dodge passenger vehicle. The Suspect was not identified by the Plainfield Police Department, who called this drug bust a &#8220;huge win&#8221; for the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fentanyl is a powerful opioid used as a pain medication and, together with other medications, for anesthesia. It is also used as a recreational drug, sometimes mixed with heroin, cocaine, or methamphetamine. In 2016, fentanyl and fentanyl analogues were the most common cause of overdose deaths in the United States at more than 20,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>IUWBB Head Coach Teri Moren joins Coaching Staff of USA Basketball Women\u2019s U18 National Team  (Press Release)<br><\/strong>USA Basketball today announced the trio of coaches who will lead the 2022 USA Basketball Women\u2019s U18 National Team this summer, as well as two who will assist as court coaches during the USA U18 National Team trials. Texas A&amp;M head coach\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usab.com\/basketball\/staff\/t\/taylor-joni.aspx\">Joni Taylor<\/a>, who was an assistant coach for the gold medal 2021 USA U19 World Cup Team, will serve as head coach. Assisting Taylor will be collegiate head coaches\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usab.com\/basketball\/staff\/m\/milton-jones-delisha.aspx\">DeLisha Milton-Jones<\/a>\u00a0(Old Dominion) and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usab.com\/basketball\/staff\/m\/moren-teri.aspx\">Teri Moren<\/a>\u00a0(Indiana). Aiding the coaching staff in on-court skills and drills and scrimmages during the May 31-June 4 trials, in Colorado Springs, Colo., will be collegiate head coaches\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usab.com\/basketball\/staff\/a\/agugua-hamilton-amaka.aspx\">Amaka Agugua-Hamilton<\/a>\u00a0(Virginia) and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usab.com\/basketball\/staff\/d\/dillon-denise.aspx\">Denise Dillon<\/a>\u00a0(Villanova).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAnytime you have an opportunity to be a part of USA Basketball it is very humbling,\u201d said Taylor, who returns for her fourth USA Basketball coaching assignment. \u201cI\u2019m excited about working with and learning from DeLisha [Milton-Jones], Teri [Moren], Amaka [Aguaga-Hamilton] and Denise [Dillon]. To have the ability to impact and lead young women while representing our country is very special and some of my greatest basketball memories have come with being associated with this great organization.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A biennial event launched in 1988 and open to athletes 18 years old or younger, the FIBA Americas U18 Championship features eight national teams from North, South and Central America and the Caribbean. The USA Basketball women claimed 10-straight gold medals from 2000-2018, as well as in 1988, and silver medals in 1992 and 1996. USA Basketball is 59-2 in FIBA Americas U18 Championship action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This will be Moren&#8217;s first international stint with USA Basketball after being a court coach for the 2021 USA U19 World Cup Team trials. A 19-year head coaching veteran, Moren spent the past eight seasons leading Indiana to a 172-89 record, including the 2022 NCAA Sweet 16, 2021 NCAA Elite Eight, 2018 WNIT championship and three additional postseason berths. Prior to Indiana, Moren spent four years at Indiana State, where she compiled a 69-57 record and earned a pair of WNIT bids in her final two seasons. In all, and including seven years at the University of Indianapolis, Moren owns a 371-219 record as a collegiate head coach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>IU Rural Conference to host state, rural leaders and explore collaborative innovations<\/strong><br>The Indiana University Center for Rural Engagement will hold its fourth annual IU Rural Conference on May 12<sup>th<\/sup> and 13<sup>th<\/sup>, convening rural residents and leaders from across the state and IU faculty, staff and students at French Lick Resort Conference Center. The conference will open with remarks from IU Bloomington Provost and Executive Vice President Rahul Shrivastav. A conversation with Governor Eric Holcomb and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/rural.indiana.edu\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">IU Center for Rural Engagement<\/a>\u00a0Executive Director Kerry Thomson will follow, with a focus on Indiana&#8217;s rural opportunities and Holcomb&#8217;s 2022 Next Level Agenda, including the READI initiative and community connectivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other events on May 12<sup>th<\/sup> include a panel discussion on substance use disorder in rural communities. The discussion will feature\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/news.iu.edu\/stories\/2021\/04\/iu\/inside\/23-dr-william-cooke-book-canary-in-coal-mine.html\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dr. William Cooke<\/a>, a Scott County physician and author of &#8220;Canary in the Coal Mine,&#8221; and Michael Husain and Lisa Hall, Director and Producer of &#8220;The Addict&#8217;s Wake,&#8221; an award-winning documentary set in Brown County. Breakout sessions will include topics on mental health, teen pregnancy, and rural health care access. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On May 13<sup>th<\/sup>, the morning keynote on collaboration by design will be led by Jack Hess, executive director of Columbus, Indiana-based CivicLab. Denny Spinner, executive director of the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs and former mayor of Huntingburg, will convene a panel of Mayors &#8211; including Treva Hodges of Charlestown, Scott Long of Wabash, and Dean Vonderheide of Jasper &#8211; to discuss rural city innovations and challenges. Breakout sessions will include community conversations on housing, USDA rural development funding opportunities, creative placemaking and rural food markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The conference is open to the public. Tickets are $80 for both days and $50 for a single day, which includes meals and materials. A limited number of scholarships are available for those who could not otherwise participate.
