Haugh Complex on the Indiana University Campus becoming the first to double up on state titles in the same meet since 2017. Lucas won the shot put with a throw of 46-04.25 and the discus with a throw of 147-04. Lucas became just the 7<sup>th<\/sup> sophomore in meet history to win the shot put and she became the first female in meet history to sweep the throws. Lucas became the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> female athlete from Monroe County to win the shot-put joining Stacy Martin of Edgewood who won in 1999.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bloomington North finished 4<sup>th<\/sup> with a score of 28 points which ties for the best finish in school history. The Cougars finished 4<sup>th<\/sup> in 1989 and 1991 and scored the most points in 1989. Sophomore Nola Somers-Glen finished 5<sup>th<\/sup> in the 800 meters with a time of 2:13.97. Ella Francis finished 8<sup>th<\/sup> in the 300meter hurdles with a time of 45.27. Kyla Kante finished 9<sup>th<\/sup> in the 100-meter hurdles with a time 14.57. Bea Cakmak finished 12<sup>th<\/sup> in the 1600 meters with a time 5:12.08. The 4X 400-meter relay team finished 12<sup>th<\/sup> with a time of 4.00:61. The 4&#215;100 meter relay team finished 20<sup>th<\/sup> with a time of 49:60.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lilly Meyers finished 10<sup>th<\/sup> in the 3200 meters with a time of 10:47.37 and the 4X 800 Meter relay team finished 21<sup>st<\/sup> with a time of 10:00.91 Edgewood Sophomore Ashley Abram finished 23<sup>rd<\/sup> in the Pole Vault with a height 9.06.00.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>North Central of Indianapolis won its 4<sup>th<\/sup> state championship scoring 55 points. The Panthers have won state titles in 1984, 1989 and 2019. Noblesville was runner up with 40 points followed by Zionsville with 32 points and Huntington North rounding out the top five with 27 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Indiana University Women\u2019s Basketball names Linda Sayavongchanh Assistant Coach<\/strong><br>Indiana head coach Teri Moren has announced Linda Sayavongchanh as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the women&#8217;s basketball program. We are excited to have Linda join our family,&#8221; Moren said in Press Release. &#8220;Linda has a proven track record of recruiting, developing, and coaching winning players. She has achieved great success at Creighton including last season&#8217;s Elite Eight run. Her attitude, work ethic and competitiveness will fit right in with our culture here at Indiana.&#8221;<br>&nbsp;<br>Sayavongchanh comes to Indiana after spending the last seven seasons at Creighton (2015-22), where she was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. During her time in Omaha, she helped the Bluejays to three trips to the NCAA Tournament including the program&#8217;s first ever trips to the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight in 2022. Sayavongchanh (pronounced Cy-ya-vong-chan) worked with guards and combo players during her first four seasons, before transitioning to work specifically with hybrids (posts) over the last three seasons. Her players earned a plethora of accolades during her time with CU, including the program&#8217;s first ever WNBA draft pick in Jaylyn Agnew who was also the 2020 Big East Player of the Year. Other players under Sayavongchanh&#8217;s instruction included All-Big East guards Marissa Janning, Temi Carda, Sydney Lamberty and forwards Audrey Faber, Morgan Maly and Emma Ronsiek. Maly was named the 2021-22 BIG EAST Sixth Player of the Year while Rosniek also earned a place on the league&#8217;s first team last season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I am beyond excited to join the Hoosier family,&#8221; Sayvongchanh said in Press Release. &#8220;I have a tremendous amount of respect for Coach Moren and her staff. They are unbelievable coaches, winners and most of all, great human beings. I&#8217;m looking forward to helping Indiana women&#8217;s basketball continue to be successful and I can&#8217;t wait to get to work.&#8221; &nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<br>Before coming to Creighton, Sayavongchanh spent two years at Saint Louis (2013-15) and spent time on the bench with North Dakota (2012-13) as well as her alma mater, Drake (2009-12). She began her career as a graduate assistant at Minnesota-Duluth (2007-09). Sayavongchanh starred at Drake from 2002-06 where she was a three-time All-Missouri Valley Conference selection. She finished her career with 1,129 points and was named to the MVC All-Defensive team three times. She closed her career second in steals for the Bulldogs with 266, including 105 in 2003-04. A native of Des Moines, Iowa, Sayavongchanh is a member of the Lincoln High School Hall of Fame as well as the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Hall of Fame. She holds a bachelor&#8217;s degree in elementary education from Drake (2007). She and longtime boyfriend Joe Konrad have a dog, Kobe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Indiana University announces NIL Agreement with Campus Ink<\/strong><br>Campus Ink and Indiana University have announced a total school solution agreement that will provide Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) merchandising opportunities for all Hoosier student-athletes. In the fall, the NIL Store powered by Campus Ink will launch a complete merchandising store for Indiana student-athletes, featuring officially licensed shirseys and apparel. Every athlete will possess a personalized digital locker room which will house their merchandise.<br><br>Campus Ink expanded into the NIL space in 2021 and launched the NIL Store, which serves as a merchandising solution for student-athletes and schools. The NIL Store operates with the firm belief that every student-athlete has an opportunity to capitalize on their NIL.<br><br>The Campus Ink team handles all the creative, product creation, design, marketing, fulfillment and customer service for its student-athletes. Additionally, Campus Ink works directly with student-athletes to educate them on merchandising, marketing and sales trends to develop strategies for optimal success.<br><br>&#8220;Campus Ink is the national leader in the NIL merchandise space, making them a perfect fit for our student-athletes,&#8221; said IU Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Scott Dolson in press release. &#8220;I am excited for what this means not only for our students&#8217; ability to maximize their NIL opportunities, but also for our fans who will have first-of-its-kind opportunities to show their support for our student-athletes and programs with high-end, officially licensed IU merchandise. This is the latest example of IU being at the forefront of this new era of intercollegiate athletics.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Indiana Cutters fall to Columbus Gladiators in High Scoring Game at Martinsville<\/strong><br>The Indiana Cutters lost to the Columbus Gladiators 38-36 in High Scoring Blue Collar League Football battle at Martinsville High School Saturday night. The Gladiators led 12-0 after the first quarter scoring on two touchdown passes. The Cutters responded with a 4-yard run from Marquise Holt to make 12-7 with 6:48 left to go before halftime. The Gladiators answered back with a 49-yard touchdown pass to make 18-7 going into halftime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Cutters came out of the locker room fast when Travis Griffey found Isaiah Moore on 88-yard strike 57 seconds into the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> half to make it 18-14 with 14:03 left in the 3<sup>rd<\/sup> quarter. The Gladiators answered with and 11-yard touchdown pass and 2-point conversion to make 26-14 with 5:22 left in the 3<sup>rd<\/sup> quarter. The 4<sup>th<\/sup> quarter started with Travis Griffey throwing an interception out of his own endzone that bounced into the hands of a Gladiators defender and returned for the touchdown to make 32-14 just 55 seconds into the 4<sup>th<\/sup> quarter. The Gladiators 2-point conversion attempt was intercepted and return to the endzone by Cutters defensive back Nick Land which made it 32-16. Griffey found Moore on an 11-yard touchdown pass and Griffey added the two-point conversion to make it 32-24 with 10:27 left in the fourth quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Columbus responded with a 29-yard touchdown pass to make it 38-24 with 9:06 left in the game. Columbus was 15-30 passing for 241 yards and five touchdown passes. The Gladiators ran the ball 28 times for 68 yards and were effective on third down conversions going 8-11 but struggled going 1-6 on two point conversions. Cutters Running Back Torrell Williamson would find the end zone twice, first going 55 yards but the extra point was no good making it 38-30 with 8:50 left. With 1:24 to go Williamson scored on a 3-yard run but the two-point conversion failed making it 38-36. After the Gladiators recovered the on side kick the Cutters challenged the ruling and were unsuccessful. Both teams had no time outs remaining and the Gladiators took two knees end the game. &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Williamson had 12 carries for 92 yards and two touchdowns. Isaiah Moore had 3 receptions for 96 yards and 2 touchdowns. Travis Griffey who played at Martinsville HS was 9-19 passing for 149 yards 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Griffey ran the ball 10 times for 27 yards had a fumble and was sacked twice. The Cutters kick return team had 7 returns for 211 yards and was huge bright spot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Cutters are 1-1 on the season and will have the week off before returning to action Saturday June 18, when they host the Kentucky Cardinals at Martinsville HS. &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Indianapolis Indians Coverage<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/bloomingtonnews.online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/image-7.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"132\" height=\"169\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><em><u>Indians win one out of three in Omaha<\/u><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Indianapolis Indians took one out of three over the weekend winning Friday night\u2019s game 5-2. The Indians fell Thursday night 4-1 and Saturday night 7-6 as their record stands at 26-26 while Omaha is 27-25. The Indians hit three home runs Saturday Night from Hoy Park, Bligh Madris and O\u2019Neil Cruz. Travis Swaggerty hit a three-run shot in Friday night\u2019s game in the win over the Storm Chasers. The Indians have hit 51 out of the park this season. Sunday&#8217;s night game was postponed due to inclement weather.  The game will be made up on a date to be determined. The Indians return to Omaha from Sept. 6-11.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yorktown High School and Indiana State Graduate Clay Dungan has played 49 games for Omaha while playing in six different field positions this season. Dungan has 36 hits, 27 runs, 3 home runs, 15 RBIs with a.200 batting average and 7 stolen bases.
