{"id":3482,"date":"2022-07-05T11:14:15","date_gmt":"2022-07-05T11:14:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bloomingtonnews.online\/?p=3482"},"modified":"2022-07-05T11:14:16","modified_gmt":"2022-07-05T11:14:16","slug":"local-news-headlines-july-5-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bloomingtonnews.online\/?p=3482","title":{"rendered":"Local News Headlines: July 5, 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/bloomingtonnews.online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Local-News-Headlines.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"261\" height=\"216\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Morgan County Clerk of Court killed in weekend auto crash<\/strong><br>The Morgan County Sheriff\u2019s Office is investigating a single vehicle crash that has taken the life of 52 year-old Stephanie Elliott 52, and critically injured her 56 year-old husband, John Elliot, both from Martinsville. Stephanie is the current Morgan County Clerk and the Republican candidate for Morgan County Auditor in the November general election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Saturday, July 2, at approximately 7:15pm, Morgan County Sheriff\u2019s deputies responded to the report of a single vehicle crash on SR 67 approximately a half mile south of the SR 67\/SR 39 south junction. Evidence at the scene and witness statements indicate that a 2022 Dodge Ram pickup was traveling south on SR 67 going from the four-lane divided highway to the two-lane. For reasons unknown the pickup crossed the northbound lane, traveled down an embankment striking several trees and coming to rest on the driver\u2019s side. The driver, John Elliott, was air lifted to St. Vincent hospital in Indianapolis in critical condition. His wife, Stephanie, was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Morgan County Coroner\u2019s Office. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information regarding this crash should contact Deputy Caleb Merriman via Public Safety Dispatch at (765) 342-5544.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Creative Business Training Opportunities to Occur Around State\u00a0<\/strong><br>The Indiana Arts Commission (IAC) is partnering with the Indiana Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and local partners around the state to improve the economic resilience of creative small businesses through the Next Steps Creative Business Training Program.\u00a0Throughout July and August,\u00a0over 250 creative\u00a0entrepreneurs\u00a0across the state will be equipped with entrepreneurship training, a creative community network, and a direct bridge to their regional Indiana\u00a0SBDC through regionally hosted Next Steps Creative Business training\u00a0opportunities.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The local trainings are led by Regional Arts Partners of the Indiana Arts Commission. In total, nine trainings will take place around the state. Creatives&nbsp;may attend more than one training and all trainings are&nbsp;free of charge and open to creatives&nbsp;from anywhere in the state.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.in.gov\/arts\/programs-and-services\/training\/next-steps-trainings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Learn more about each of the Next Steps statewide training
