ISP Arrests Several in Drug Trafficking Organization in Lawrence County<\/strong>
The Indiana State Police Drug Enforcement Section and the Indiana State Police Bloomington District A.C.E.S. (Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Section) concluded a lengthy investigation into a Lawrence County drug trafficking organization by making multiple arrests this past Wednesday. ISP troopers and detectives served numerous search warrants, conducted traffic stops, seized a large number of drugs (methamphetamine, heroin, and cocaine), and took four people into custody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

29 year-old Dylan Meadows, of Bedford, was apprehended after a traffic stop in which a canine deployed on the scene provided a positive alert for drugs. A subsequent search revealed that Meadows was in possession of a used, uncapped syringe with methamphetamine residue inside. After obtaining probable cause to search his apartment, Troopers located approximately 9 grams of methamphetamine, digital scales, numerous plastic bags for packaging drugs, and other items associated with the dealing of methamphetamine. Meadows was arrested and incarcerated in the Lawrence County Jail on Dealing Methamphetamine with a Prior Conviction, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Wednesday evening, ISP executed a search warrant in which they encountered three people including 52 year-old Bradley Crawford of Bloomington and 30 year-old Allison Dalton of Bedford. Dalton was found to be in possession of approximately 3 grams of heroin, and Crawford was in possession of approximately 2 grams of cocaine. Both Crawford and Dalton were arrested and incarcerated at the Lawrence County Jail. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later on Wednesday evening, ISP located 40 year-old Christine Blackburn of Bedford. Blackburn was wanted on an active petition to revoke a warrant out of Lawrence County. Troopers had probable cause to search the garage, where they found approximately 75 grams of methamphetamine, digital scales, and other items associated with dealing methamphetamine. Blackburn was arrested and incarcerated at the Lawrence County Jail for Dealing Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Petition to Revoke Felony Warrant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This drug organization was responsible for a large number of illegal narcotics flowing into Lawrence County, so these arrests will slow access to the drugs by those struggling with addiction issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PARKS & RECREATION<\/span>
The July meeting of the Board of Park Commissioners has been canceled due to a lack of a quorum. The Board of Park Commissioners will reconvene at their next regularly scheduled meeting on August 16th at 4pm. in City Hall. Farmers\u2019 Market: Bollards at City Hall<\/span>
Bollards have been installed on the Morton Street and Rogers street entrances to the City Hall parking lot. The second set of bollards along the Rogers Street entrance were removed earlier this week and vehicular traffic from Rogers may resume.\u00a0These bollards separate Bloomington Community Farmers’ Market customers from vehicle traffic and are in place during the Farmers’ Market; the entrance is open to vehicle traffic during times when the market is not in session.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

B-Line Trail<\/span>
The Parks and Recreation Department will begin trimming overgrown trees and brush on the south end of the B-Line Trail south of Switchyard Park during the week of July 18. While the B-Line Trail will remain open, trail users are asked to exercise caution when passing Parks and Recreation crews working along the trail. One lane of the trail may close periodically to accommodate tree trimming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Waldron, Hill, and Buskirk Park<\/span>
Repairs to the performance stage columns are scheduled to begin by July 15. The project contractor will deconstruct the cracked, existing columns before repairing and reconstructing the columns. Deconstruction will take at least one week. Crews will return to the park in August to reconstruct the columns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lower Cascades Park<\/span>
The orange fencing used during construction is being removed from the project areas along the newly constructed streambank wall but will remain at the site of the former gravel parking lot across the concrete spillway. Most of the grass seeding in this area was done prior to the oppressive heat wave in June, which resulted in poor germination and early death of the grass. The contractor will re-seed construction areas this fall and will also conduct final tree checks and plant the replacement trees throughout the project area. Contractors will also install a guardrail along the road at the concrete spillway, after which the construction access gate will be removed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
