Residents who have experienced flooding and have items needing disposal should follow these guidelines:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In order to schedule pickup, residents must use this <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSeqthIBqk0W5XU-qeCk2BVXC0Eu0UM5EZpKtaVXGSVZy48_Iw\/viewform\" target=\"_blank\">form<\/a>, or call the Sanitation Division at 812-349-3443<\/li><li>This pickup will <strong>only <\/strong>be for items related to flood damage to single-family homes and properties served by the City of Bloomington Sanitation Division. Such items will be picked up on the resident\u2019s normal service day.<\/li><li>A single $10 large item charge will be billed to the account.<\/li><li>Carpet either needs to be cut into manageable pieces, or rolled and tied at both ends so that it is manageable for staff.<\/li><li>Any items that can be bagged will need to be bagged.<\/li><li>Downed branches and other vegetation need to be picked up as part of <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/bloomington.in.gov\/sanitation\/trash\" target=\"_blank\">normal schedules for yard waste pickup<\/a>. Electronics will not be picked up as part of these efforts. Any electronic items can be disposed of through the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gogreendistrict.com\/electronics\" target=\"_blank\">Monroe County Solid Waste Management District Electronics Recycling Program<\/a> or through this weekend\u2019s free <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/162382649190981\/\" target=\"_blank\">e-recycling event sponsored by Cook Medical<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Former U.S. Rep. Susan Brooks will join the Indiana University School of Law at IUPUI<\/strong><br>Former U.S. Rep. Susan Brooks, an alumna of the school, will be appointed as distinguished scholar and ambassador at large. Among her various roles, Brooks will co-teach a course on law and leadership with former dean and Paul E. Beam Professor of Law Andrew R. Klein. Founded as the Indiana Law School in 1894, the school became a part of IU in 1944 and was renamed the IU Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2011. The school counts many distinguished leaders in politics, public service and the judiciary among its alumni, including Brooks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brooks represented Indiana&#8217;s 5th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2013 to 2021, serving on the Energy and Commerce Committee, as chair of the House Ethics Committee, as co-chair of the Bipartisan Women&#8217;s Caucus and as a member of the Select Committee on the Modernization of Congress. Prior to her service in Congress, Brooks was general counsel and senior vice president for workforce and economic development at Ivy Tech Community College. In 2001, she was appointed U. S. attorney for the Southern District of Indiana by President George W. Bush, serving six years at that post. Brooks earned her Bachelor of Arts from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, in 1978. She received a Juris Doctor from the IU Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 1985.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>CRISP Motorcycle ride Saturday, June 26th<\/strong><br>A total of six Indiana state park properties will take part in the Charity Ride Indiana State Parks (CRISP) on June 26. Motorcycle riders can pick one of seven volunteer-led routes between Hardy Lake and Charlestown, Spring Mill, Versailles, Clifty Falls, and Whitewater Memorial state parks, or choose their own route. Hardy Lake is having an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Versailles is having a 50\/50 poker run just after the breakfast. Clifty Falls and Spring Mill state parks will have 10 percent off lunch specials at their restaurants for riders. Charlestown will have a vintage motorcycle skills challenge among other activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cost of the ride is $40 per rider and $35 per passenger through June 21 and $42 per rider and $37 per passenger after that date. The price includes Hardy Lake\u2019s breakfast buffet, the lunch discounts, and the poker run.The ride is sponsored by the Friends groups at each state park and proceeds will benefit park projects.
