ISP Body Worn Cameras Being Deployed to Troopers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Indiana State Police is well underway with the process of issuing body worn and in-car cameras to its Troopers across the entire state; a process which started in early June and is expected to take until late August to complete. In August of 2020, Governor Holcomb mandated the ISP would adopt and implement a body worn camera system by the Spring of 2021. Since the Governor\u2019s announcement, extensive research and testing has been conducted to ensure the system implemented would best meet the needs of the ISP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In all, nearly 800 body worn camera systems, which will also include and work in tandem with in-car cameras, will be put into the field for uniform Troopers and Sergeants assigned to patrol duties, Capitol Police Officers and specific Special Operations units.  More than 230 body worn, and in-car camera systems have been deployed into the field. The system utilizes a router which is installed in the vehicle which allows for more accessibility and connectivity in areas of the state where cell phone coverage is not always optimal. The cost associated with this project is approximately $15 million over a period of five years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attorney General Todd Rokita sues Google again over alleged unlawful monopolistic practices<\/strong>
Attorney General Todd Rokita has filed a multistate lawsuit against Google over monopolistic practices used by the digital giant to thwart competition and maintain unfair control over markets for Android app distribution and Android in-app payment processing. An investigation joined by 37 state attorneys general revealed that Google is abusing its market control in the digital economy through Google Play, an app store that comes pre-installed on nearly every Android device. Through contractual restraints, technical barriers and deception, Google inhibits competition by obstructing reasonable alternative means of downloading apps. The complaint alleges that Google has unlawfully restrained trade and maintained monopolies in the markets for Android app distribution and payment processing services for Android in-app digital purchases.\u00a0 Citing federal and state antitrust and consumer protection statutes, the lawsuit seeks broad injunctive relief sufficient to forbid the repetition of Google\u2019s unlawful practices<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deadline Extended for Next Cohort of Biomanufacturing Apprenticeship Program\u00a0
<\/strong>In partnership with the City of Bloomington, Ivy Tech Community College is now accepting applications for participation in the second cohort of the Biomanufacturing Technician Apprenticeship<\/a> program.\u00a0 Taking place July 12-30<\/strong> at the Indiana Center for the Life Sciences (ICLS) on the Ivy Tech Bloomington campus, the program is a free, three-week training program that prepares students for high-quality jobs in Bloomington\u2019s robust life sciences manufacturing sector.\u00a0 The deadline to submit an application for participation has been extended to Saturday, July 10<\/strong>.\u00a0 More information and a link to the application form is available here<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0
